Dude was amazing for us in 2001 and 2002. I know his life took a turn for the worse after he left. But this sucks. He wasn’t that old.

One of my all time favorite players. He was smooth as silk and strong as a bull. He looked like he was gliding sometimes but then he could run with power. Extremely sad to hear this news.

Former Alabama Running Back Santonio Beard Passes Away

The Crimson Tide back is tied for the school's single-game rushing touchdown mark with five against Ole Miss in 2002.

Former Alabama running back Santonio Beard has passed away, according to multiple reports Saturday. The Nashville, Tenn., native was 41. Details concerning his death are unavailable at this time.

According to former teammates, Beard died from a gunshot when someone robbed him.

Former Alabama football, Pearl-Cohn star Santonio Beard died from gunshot wound in Georgia

Former Alabama and Pearl-Cohn football star Santonio Beard died from a gunshot wound Friday, according to DeKalb County Police Department officials in Georgia.

Officers responded to a call found Beard and another man suffering from gunshot wounds at 8:59 p.m. on the 5700 block of Windfall Lane. Beard, 41, died on scene and the other victim, a male in his early 40s, was transported to a local hospital.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains active.
