For 17 years we've had the same headcoach. 17 years.

Kalen DeBoer plays for the National Championship on Monday. Nick Saban resigns on Wednesday. Kalen DeBoer is the new football Coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday.

All of that, in a matter of days after having the same football coach for 17 years. Just sit with that for a moment. Who keeps a football coach for 17 years and what sort of football coach wants to stay at the same place for 17 years?

Nick Saban could've gone anywhere he wanted at any time. Even now, if he wanted an elite job anywhere else he could have it. If he wanted Miami for instance, he could take it. If he wanted Florida, it's all his. If Nick Saban decided he wanted USC tomorrow, does anyone really believe they would keep Lincoln Riley if they could get The Man right now for just 2 seasons?

Nick Saban could've made millions anywhere he wanted, at any time. Name almost any city in this country and he could've gotten filthy rich in it. He didn't have to build his legacy in little ole Tuscaloosa. He retired from the University of Alabama because he absolutely loved it there and there was no place else he wanted to be. He chose to be in Tuscaloosa over anywhere else in this country. The greatest coach in the history of college football chose to the University of Alabama and he never looked back.

Roll Tide ladies and gentlemen.

I remember when he was hired and every rival take was "You just watch. First big paycheck thrown at him, he's gone."

I think this is an incredibly exciting time to be an Alabama fan...even more than the last couple of years. With all of the frustration with BoB, the hand wringing over Milroe and/or Rees...whoever you want to put most of the blame on for those struggles...this is the dawn of a brand new day with one of the most dynamic offensive minds in college football taking over. We've all known for the last couple of years that this day was coming. No more recruits wondering if the head coach will be there in two years. Let's get it on.

I've lived in Louisiana for years now. This gives me an up close and personal perspective on the LSU fanbase. Believe me when I tell you, the state of Louisiana and it's ongoing 17 year melt is surpassed only by Chernobyl. No shite, really.

I love reading the Tiger Rant, it's the best page on this entire website. Yesterday, they had no less than 9 threads that were Alabama related. What's going on right now in Tuscaloosa has been nothing short of some massive, collective therapeutic release for them. It's as though an abusive husband or father has finally left the house.

For 17 years, they've been Tina to our Ike and they really don't know what to do now without their abuser.

It’s been really, really unhealthy for many of them.

It was way past a football rivalry, it was a personal mental trauma with Saban and it really messed some of them up.
