Alabama returned to the practice field Monday, as the Crimson Tide players practiced indoors and in full pads -- for the first time -- on a partly-cloudy, 97-degree afternoon in Tuscaloosa. It was the team's fifth practice of fall camp.

Here are several tidbits from Alabama's fifth fall training camp practice session:

- Cornerback Tony Brown, who appeared to injure his shoulder after a hard collision with wide receiver Robert Foster during yesterday's open practice, was participating in defensive back drills Monday. He wore a brace on his left shoulder and didn't use his left arm much during contact and tackling drills.
- Fellow cornerback Marlon Humphrey appeared to be limited for a fourth consecutive day, as he hung back during individual drills. Nick Saban said Humphrey is dealing with a pulled muscle of some kind and "will be out a few days."

- Toward the end of the viewing periods, two corners and two safeties lined up in what appeared to be the team's base package on defense. Those players were Brown and Cyrus Jones at corner and Geno Smith and Eddie Jackson at safety.

- Wide receiver Chris Black (ankle) was also limited Monday, although he was not wearing a black, no-contact jersey. He, like Humphrey, stood at the back of the receiver line and did not participate in pass-catching drills.

- Tight end Ty Flournoy-Smith (ankle) appeared to be a full participant during position group drills on Monday.

- Left tackle Cameron Robinson (knee) practiced again Monday after sustaining a sprained knee during Saturday's practice. He worked with what appeared to be the first-team offensive line, along with Ross Pierschbacher, Ryan Kelly, Bradley Bozeman and Dominick Jackson.

- Being indoors, we got a closer look at the running backs and quarterbacks. Jacob Coker once again led the QBs through individual drills and worked beside Alec Morris during passing drills. They threw to Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake, Bo Scarbrough (knee) and Xavian Marks.

- The other quarterback line threw to Ronnie Clark, Damien Harris and walk-on Derrick Gore (No. 33.)

- Scouts from the New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings watched practice

I'm pretty much only excited for our defense and our running game.

Hell it won us a championship in 2009.

Forgot the most important note from fan day. JK has some extremely bright, flashy new blue shoes... What does it mean??!!?!?

Thought about jumping the fence just to get his autograph but I was afraid he'd view me as a threat and kick me in the nuts

What'd you think of Barnett's throwing motion in person?

Phillip Rivers has a weird arse motion so I don't think that means anything. If it gets to point B well timed then don't change anything.

There are about 10 guys repping kick return. ArDarius Stewart and Kenyan Drake are the first two up. Derrick Henry among others in the mix.

Is it too late for me to complain about neither of these two getting an opportunity to return kicks last year?

I'll go ahead and say it. Chris jones was horrible. I realize he contributed in some situations but consistency wise he was garbage.

Sounds like Minkah Fitzpatrick will see the field this year. That's actually incredible to think about when you consider all of the 5* CBs ahead of him.

The quarterbacks were throwing a few deep balls. The two who hit receivers in stride were Jake Coker and Blake Barnett.

Barnett is having a good camp so far.

He got progressively worse as his UA career wore on. This past year was just painful to watch sometimes. The Ole Miss and the WVU games come to mind with that horribly timed fumble and the dropped wide open, sure fire, TD pass from Blake Sims.

Hopefully this year a guy like Stewart can bring back the electric return man we haven't had the last couple years. Dionte Thompson was great as a return man in hs too right? Wonder if we've tried him out.

jones had that one good year, then was terrible. im hoping daylon charlot gets a look. watch his film returning in high school, hes awesome. plus, hes kind of expendable. i dont want stewart or foster to get blown up on a special teams play.
