are we shocked that the offensive coordinator seems partially to the best QB? The only knock on him seems to be his youth.
The thing to keep in mind about Kiffin, he and Pete Carroll are pretty close. Carroll started a true FR in Matt Barkley from week one at USC in 2009. That USC team was a pre-season top 5 team.
Kiffin has seen a tFR start for a very good team and have success. He won't let youth keep BB from starting if he and Saban belive BB is the best option to help the team. I still think someone other than Blake starts week one, but would not shock me for him to start from week one either.

Just heard on Wjox 94.5 that Phil Savage said this morning that Coker will be the starter for Wisc.

I think Kiffin would be glad to start Barnett, but Saban is probably the tougher sell.
If Blake is gonna start, he's gotta look good this week in practice and he has to show playmaking ability while limiting turnovers on Saturday. Against this defense it'll be hard. And he's got a few others guys who shouldn't be slept on to compete with.

Barnett took another big step in the right direction last night at practice.

Boz said on another board that BB went 12-15 with the 1's last night. Cornwell went 4-11.

Did he mention Morris?

He did not.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "inside info". I have business relationships and friendships with a couple of guys who are agents to coaches on our staff, as well as others. I have a decent relationship with someone in football ops at Bama (staff, not intern). Also, one of my clients is a very large advertiser with Bama and every year is given 4 passes to attend practice, so he's seen some things first hand that he's shared.
Good answer

2) As Jake sees it, He is currently the starting QB and has "game manager" down to a "T". Unless one of the other QB's really flashes play-making ability minus the turnovers he will take the 1st snap vs. Wisky.

3) The 1 QB that makes Jake nervous about hanging on to the job is (no surprise here) Blake Barnett. Jake senses that BB is Kiffins #1 choice and feels pressure from the rookie. The quote Coker gave this source was "Blake is Kiffins boy, and I'm not."
If these things truly did come from Jacob, then that is kind of bothersome. If he truly feels like he has already won the competition, he needs to think again. With that attitude, BB is going to come up and snatch that starting job faster than he can blink.
Also, if he has a me vs them mentality against his own freaking OC and teammate, then that is a problem in itself.

All this gumpin has my heart pumpin. I'm ready to see this crew wreck shite. Whoever the QB is I just hope he has pair of balls. Frick talent and Roll Tide.

I don't think that is the case. It could be, sure, but I wouldn't instantly take an acknowledgement of what could very well be the truth as a "me vs them" mentality.

There's a large number of people that believe he's the starter. Why is it a shock he would perhaps feel the same way?
I don't necessarily think this means he's complacent (you obviously do), I just think this is him giving his feeling based on practice and history (Blake was de facto starter going into WVU because nobody including Jake had done enough to usurp him)

I didn't get this out of that at all. Keep reaching I guess.
One thing we haven't discussed is Jake's lack of returning weapons. Last year he was primarily with the 2s.
Black = held out
Sims = out for the year
Foster = now injured/limited
Stewart = heathy
Add in that Drake was held out and you have Stewart and Foster (for a while) going against a stout defense that wasn't being forced to guard the run that much. Not that much chemistry/experience there. No wonder all the QBs got crushed.
Not to mention, people willing to just throw BB into the fire...3 picks, 2 for points. If he doesn't improve dramatically no fricking way do I want that starting against Wisconsin.

Its not a shock at all.

I didn't intend to "reach." It was merely an observation, and an opinion. I don't think that it is a good thing if he thinks that Lane doesn't have his back. I apologize if that upset you.

I don't think an OC having a guy he thinks is the best option means he doesn't have the other guys' backs. JMO

I don't either, I just hope Jake doesn't.
All in all, no one truly knows if that report from Coker's family friend is even worth a shite.

I'm hoping we get back to some smashmouth football and the running game a bit more this yr, so there isn't that much pressure on whichever QB takes the reigns.

I think it is pretty obvious Coker will start the first game baring injury. Saban is too dedicated to seniority to allow anything different.
However, what happens after that is on Coker. Saban will give him the opportunity to sink or swim. If Saban seems a hint of him sinking I think he will yank Coker and begin a QB carousel starting with Blake Barnett. If he can't get it right he'll probably move to Morris (nightmare!) or Cornwell (if he can get out of doghouse).
