Nope. That article only credits Cecil for his original article that lacked any significant information beyond the one-sentence reply to the Tuscaloosa News' query. This new article credited other unnamed sources for all the addotional information it reported.

That's called rumors and that's not what professional journalism acts on.

That's how you get Les Miles to Michigan.

Cecil reported the facts he had. Which btw was a story and not the clickbait some of you claimed.

Incorrect. I am not attacking Cecil just acknowledging what he does for a living. He gets paid for people to click on his articles. He you fail to understand that business concept that is on you.

I probably understand the business concept way more than you do.

Which is why I understand credibility is more important than anything - If you can get it. And Cecil does.

And that is why all these articles are quoting Cecil.

Unless you're going to use it a lot, check around for a used one online (Craig's List), used tool shops, pawn shops, Restore (Habitat for Humanity), etc. Harbor Freight is worth checking for a new one.

I'm not sure what's available in your area, but I picked up a Chinese one from Pricesmart (the equivalent of CostCo or Sam's) and it has been a good purchase. Shop Series is the brand, I believe. I got it at a great price and came with legs. I'm not a professional furniture builder - it's much more of a hobby, and this one fits my needs nicely.

So, ask yourself if you need a professional quality one, or could you get by with and enjoy a lower-tier of miter saw. Happy cutting!

There is always the miter box and hand saw option.

It was the solution I went with the only time I've needed a miter saw in the past 5 years(which is a shame honestly).

Definitely. We shouldn't waste our time recruiting players like Fitzpatrick, Averett, or Alfano. /s

Lots of excellent journalists don't identify who their "multiple sources" are. I suspect your beloved Cecil has done that very thing.

As I've said, Cecil didn't report any new information about Anoma other than the one sentence reply from UA -- stating that he's not currently attending classes.

I DMd the new article to BOL editor Tim Watts. Maybe they can verify it's accuracy via their sources.

This is again something that comes down to credibility.

It's common on the internet for sure, which is why people generally have this reaction to it.

If it comes from an overall credible source, then it's more accepted.

This is true.

But Cecil still wrote a purposefully dangling piece. At minimum, he should have included the names of any other Bama player not currently taking classes. If it was newsworthy for Anoma, then it should be newsworthy for any other player. But that would have hurt his narrative. If Anoma was the only one not in classes, then that's necessary info for the reader, too. But he wrote an incomplete, dangling piece on purpose, and I'm going to judge his future work through that lens. I've always liked Cecil, but obviously, no one's perfect.

I'm not saying Cecil was well outside the lines of journalistic integrity - he wasn't. But I will definitely understand that Cecil will purposefully leave details out to suit his best narrative, and that's something I want to know about journalists who I might read.

It must also be said that the article may have been published as a dangling piece by the editor, which could absolve Cecil. Decent possibility, actually.

What? That all sounds like you trying to save face. He needed to ask about every single player?

Geez dude.

I'm now listening to the Doobie Brothers and shopping for miter saws on the Home Depot website. Priorities

Buy a new one. Those you find on Craigslist and pawn shops are too often used up, and a used up saw can be dangerous. The price difference isn't enough to warrant buying used. And though Harbor Freight is decent enough for cheap tools, I wouldn't buy a mitre saw from them.

Dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee are 3 really good ones. Hitachi tools are pretty good and a little less money. Avoid Ryobi.

I would normally agree about Harbor Freight but my father-in-law bought me a compound miter saw from there and it has greatly exceeded my expectations. I would never personally buy it from there but it’s not a bad saw.

He purposefully wrote a dangling piece, and avoided mitigating information by choice. I said it yesterday and I'm saying it today. I'm sorry that Cecil holds a special place in your heart, but I was disappointed in him.

Whether you agree or not is irrelevant. If there were 5 other players not taking July classes, it would have made Cecil's blurb about Anoma moot. And if he had substantive info about Anoma, why dangle less info? He did it because sometimes less is more regarding internet clicks. It worked for al.com this time, but I prefer my news outlets to purposefully pursue and divulge all the information. If you like it, enjoy it. Why you have a problem with what I prefer I'll never know. Should I run my dinner ideas by you to see if you'll like those to? Or do you mind if I choose what I like and want to eat?

However, I realize the absurdity of debating journalistic integrity with an American living in the US, as most of you wouldn't know unbiased, fair journalism if it crawled into bed with you and fricked you.
