Sorry

Eli is likely to never return.

I hope they can at least give him a good sendoff one Saturday.

I understand exactly what you're saying.

I still watch an occasional nascar race, and hearing Dale jr. is so bad that I often mute the TV.

Chris Stewart Repaying a Debt Filling in for Eli Gold as Alabama Play-by-Play Man (SI)

Stewart battled health issues several years ago, and can empathize with Gold, who's going through his own health struggles

I wish Eli Gold all the best. The man is definitely one of the biggest supporters of the athletics department and the university. When I was a student at Alabama I was the Vice-President of the Residence Hall Association from 2009-2010. We sponsored a debate for SGA President when Kendra Key was running against Steven Oliver and I was able to get Eli Gold to moderate. Turnout was more than expected and Eli really put on one helluva show as the moderator. A true professional. What's more? He did it for free. I brought up the subject of a fee but he refused to take anything. He did it because he wanted to do it.

I also wish Eli the best. And hope that he has a speedy recovery and long enjoyable retirement.

At the same time, I’m very excited for the start of the Chris Stewart era.

Stewart will do great, but I hope Eli recovers quickly and will be OK long term.

He's a bit too generic for Alabama football.

Having said that, Eli has looked terrible the last few times I've seen him in person..mostly in Coleman.
