casualty in recruiting. But you got him and then the rest of these guys who have been through the program the last decade……

Hurts
Tua
Mac
Bryce
Milroe

QBs playing at other FBS schools…….

Holstein
Lonergan
Sayin

Just really incredible that Ty Simpson waited his turn. BAMA is very fortunate.

I think he was always going to end up at UNC. There was a lot of mutual interest out of HS and in the portal, but his family is very Carolina blue. Wasn’t ever really ours

What's crazy is that we've got 2 other qbs that probably would be starters elsewhere that are waiting their turn. Not saying they continue to but that they haven't went into the portal is pretty amazing this day and age.

He committed February 2019. Covid panic hits early 2020, and in March, he flipped to UNC.

Realize his family is Tarheel Blue, but also don’t think he was playing us like a flip. Believe the Covid situation freaked them out.

I always figured he flipped because Young signed with us.

At Bama he likely would have ended his college career as a national champion in 2023, rather than with a lopsided loss to NC State and then sitting out the Duke's Mayo Bowl. Still, I understand the importance of that family connection.

Covid had nothing to do with it. Three months before he committed to us M Brown was hired at UNC. His father Mark a former UNC QB after his pro time came back to UNC to finish grad school and was on the staff under Brown the first time Brown coached at UNC in the 90s. The Maye's and Brown have been friends for a long time. Once Brown had an opportunity to meet with him as a coach and show him what he hoped to accomplish with him at the QB spot it was over.

If Brown would not have been hired at UNC Maye would have ended up at UA.
