I'm going full gump, this defense can be legendary. Gump hard or go home my friends.

Can being the key word. With Ragland and most of the DL returning, I think the front 7 has the potential to be very good...but then I have flashbacks to the Sugar Bowl and how OSU ran the ball down our throats. And the secondary was scary for most of the season, especially late...while I can see hope for lots of improvement there, when Saban's saying that "we've got a long way to go in the secondary", I think I'll just say that I'm cautiously optimistic about our D this year and leave it at that.

I still think we need to tweak our scheme a bit when playing spread teams...

Our front seven was very good last year, and will be this year. No team in the country was stopping OSU in the playoffs, its as simple as that. Hopefully they get another chance to prove that they can stop them.

P excluded for obvious reasons.

Don't exclude him.

Ray Guy was a 1st round pick and lived up to that billing.

Al Davis is not alive anymore. He is the only one crazy enough to draft a kicker in the first round.

A potential HOFer is worth a first round pick regardless of position.

Which is what concerns me...in 2012 we couldn't stop Manziel and the next year, we had even more trouble stopping him but we were able to outscore him. Same thing with AU the past 2 years. The spread teams, at least those with comparable talent, know how to attack our defense. That's why I think we have to tweak our D, not overhaul it...just show some different looks that'll hopefully throw off/slowdown the spread. I hope we get a shot at a rematch with OSU...but if we do and the pattern holds, our offense is gonna have to put up a whole lot of points to beat 'em...
