I think Seth moves his feet better than DD. He's got a much better motor. He's a smaller player so he has got to get himself in position to block his man. DD is strong at the point of attack but he doesn't reach his man sometimes. If he's as smart as they keep making him out be with the scholar athlete recognition every week, then I imagine he does a good job with his assignments in practice. Saban loves the guy who gets it done at practice. Seth is maybe more of a gamer. He doesn't have the sexy body and outstanding metrics, but he plays his arse off in the games.

It's a good problem to have.

Unless he gets better he is going to blow up some drives and cost us the ball in some critical situation

Kind of like the 3 Drives Dalcourt blew up last week with penalties and busted assignments

I really think he looked at the wrong guy. Thought Tootoo was the punter.

He’s the best center we have and it’s not even really close.

started slow but got into a groove as the game went on. but I've also been impressed with Dalcourt. He's been better than I expected.

semi-related note, Ekiyor was mashing dudes today.

Yes! I don't know what people are seeing or watching when it comes to Dalcourt vs McLaughlin.

McLaughlin communicates better and he knows where the blitz coming but he also just blocks better than Dalcourt.

Some our coaches need to be check for mental evaluations including Saban if he thinks Dalcourt better because this battle at the center position isn't close at all.

We all could of SCORED or picked up huge yardage yesterday with some of those HOLES created by the o line.

Seth reminds me a lot of William Vlachos the way he plays and knows the game.

I feel like this is probably the most likely scenario. Good hypothesis

You’re probably just being sarcastic but if not, no excuse for that snap. I played the position, and that was a total whiff. My only explanation is when he looked back and got his aiming point, he did something, moved the ball, moved his feet, something to throw his aim off that far. That thing wasn’t even close and came within a gnat’s arse of hitting To’oto. Burnip did a good job getting to it and getting on it.

I’d say Burnip did an awful
Job for not kicking it through the end zone instead of falling on it inside the 5.

I thought the exact same, though I wondered how much experience/knowledge he had of that in game scenario.

This is the guy whose first down of live football was game 1 of the 2021 season, and the first time he ever held for FGs/XPs outside of practice was the Iron Bowl 2021.

That's on coaching, don't get me wrong.

Interesting it's being reported by the Tidefans mod that Dalcourt was a late scratch due to injury so he may start next week. I think based on yesterday, SM should be the guy.

Yeah it’s situational awareness and panic probably just set in.

Don’t misunderstand me when I say Burnip did a good job getting on it. Y’all are right the situational awareness was totally off. He should’ve kicked it out of the end zone. I was just saying he did a good job to get to the ball considering how badly it was snapped.

Yeah in that moment he did what he could. Although only one guy was even close by, pick it up and run to the house! JK

Although I love Saban’s very brief statement about the horrible special teams play. Basically if you show up to practice anytime between Monday-Friday they will be running laps.

He should have won the starting job after the Auburn game, last year.

He did but was tossed around like a ragdoll vs UGA. Dalcourt is more powerful but I agree that the OL just seems to operate MUCH better with Seth.

Seth makes the Oline more complete, but those snaps have to get better. Also, Milroe can’t throw a quick slant because of his motion. BOB has to adjust

Dalcourt's snaps, while not fast, have not always been super accurate. He has a tendency to go much too high which disrupts the timing of the play. So that's a wash.

Seth should start. But he won't. Saban rarely lets someone lose their job because they got hurt.
