Aaron Suttles article:

World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is expected to return to the ring to defend his title by early November and possibly as early at mid-October, The Tuscaloosa News has learned.

quote:

Wilder’s promoter, Lou DiBella, has a hold on the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the dates Saturday, Oct. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 4. The search and negotiation for an opponent remains ongoing.

quote:

Two names at the top of the list are Luis Ortiz, a Cuban-born 38-year-old, and Bermane Stiverne, who Wilder defeated in January 2015 to obtain the WBC heavyweight championship.

I don't know a whole lot about Ortiz but people are saying Wilder-Ortiz would be a HUGE fight. I'm looking forward to seeing him fight again.

This would be a very good fight. Hopefully it happens. Ortiz is probably a bit past his prime now, but still a dangerous opponent for Wilder and one that will be considered high quality. These are two of the biggest names in the heavyweight division. This one should be worth the PPV.

Idk if it was this article or another, but I read Ortiz claims he's 38 but many boxing experts think he's older. That's pretty crazy lol why would he lie?

Same reason why Latino baseball players lie.

More money.

Ortiz has less than 30 fights and is a hell of a puncher.

This is BY FAR Wilder's hardest fight. This will definitely shut up the detractors that he hasn't fought anyone.
