Saturday is very important...we don't need our second loss be to a Missouri. Keep that mulligan for the Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma run.

But with this insane schedule, a 3 loss Bama SHOULD get in..esp if they're actually valuing sos more.

I can see the debate now...3 loss SEC team vs 2 loss Notre Dame for a final at large spot.

And that really shouldn't even be a debate.

Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma

All at home, which is crazy in this new 16 team conference

We need to win this weekend like you said, dropping one of the home game would look better, sorry Mizzou

Hell, let’s win all four.

I would argue playing the wrong QB is on the head coach as well as hiring a Def coordinator with questionable schemes.

I’m not convinced that for a new coach in instant eligibility transfer portal era football that’s always true and I certainly don’t think it was with the Milroe situation.

I don’t want to relitigate it, I just think it was an intractable one year situation that flat out prevented him from installing and running his offense.

I'm not sure that the offense was ready to run the full scheme last year. They were schemed to work around the strengths and weaknesses of the former All-SEC quarterback who was going to start no matter who the other competitors were. Trying to put Ty in would have left him without the full scheme, and he probably would have struggled as a result. This year, Ty has the blessing of a much more complete install, and he is thriving.

Let's chalk last year up to two things. 1) No coach replaces a guy who was all conference and took the team to the playoffs, losing only to the eventual champions in a close game. If you fail, you really look stupid. Coaches get paid millions to not look stupid. Yes, it limits them. 2). Rewarding a rah-rah guy who probably did a lot to keep last year's team together.

I think two was probably a pretty significant part of things.

Lol wut?

Clemson lost their third game against South Carolina on November 30, 2024.

Playoff selections were made on December 8, 2024. The day after the conference championship games.

Clemson got in by winning the ACC title. Had they lost to SMU, it’s a near certainty 2024 Alabama would have been the first three loss team in the playoffs.

Sark and Lane… woof

Unclear to me why you would include them and Heupel on a list of "elite" coaches. All three are offense only teams, which always struggle in big games. Over a combined 30 something years of coaching between the three, you have no national titles and four conference titles. Only one of those is in a major conference and that was Texas in the Big XII, which should have been automatic conference champs every year in that league because they were only playing apathetic Great Plains schools and tiny private schools.

Sark - Texas (top 5 program)
Heupel - TN (top 15 program)
Lane - was linked to our job and now UF

The rumor was we even talked to Sark when Saban left but he didn’t want to make a move. Not saying we offered, but had he shown interest he might be our coach right now.

And as far as being offensive only teams I’m not sure what you’re talking about. They’re all former OCs, but they’ve each had great defenses over the past few years.

FEI Defense Rank 2024/25
Texas: 3/4
TN: 11/22
OM: 5/27

And how is that any different than DeBoers background?

If you coach at a top 15 school it’s fair to compare you to other top 15/elite level coaches.
