How much money is being bet on
Games today across the country? Vegas, online betting, local bookies, etc…
Rather ppl want to believe or not it has a major influence on games in today’s world.
Just an example but if 50 million ppl bet a avg of $50 today that’s $2.5 billion.

1. Everything that doesn't go the way a particular fan watching a football game wants it to go isn't caused by the officiating.
2. If this were really scripted, someone would've talked by now because human nature is people can't keep their mouths shut. That's how folks in the business I was once in get anonymous sources to talk to them.
3. I think with as much money as there is in the sport right now, there's enough to have full-time officials who do nothing but hone that craft. The problem is the players in this sport have gotten so big and so fast (and the same is true IMO in basketball) that it's gotten humanly impossible to officiate with metaphysical perfection and instant replay is not a guaranteed fix for that.
4. Plus even if you could ensure metaphysical perfection, if they call everything that could be called, these games will take six hours. Plus with holding that people consistently bitch about, the powers that be in football want tons of offense to make this an entertainment product for ADHD fans ... if they have their way, there will never, ever, ever, ever, EVER again be a 6-3 score in a high-profile game, they don't give six cacas what old-school fans want ... and some holding has to be conceded for that to happen.
5. I'm good with the no-call on targeting last night, the only reasons people are bitching about it is because they hate the suck-arse rule in the first place, they hate and resent that it's inconsistently applied and there's a sense that Georgia walked off with something they didn't "deserve" last night even though Georgia Tech's coaches developing tight anal sphincters didn't help matters.

Can't ever lead with the crown of the helmet. If that wasn't targeting, nothing is.

So if 1/3 of adult US males put $50 into betting this week and all of them choose this exact game out of all the NCAA football, NFL, and all other sports? I know you said “just an example” but that is a far fetched example.
