If I understood our athletics director correctly on wjox, he said that one possible idea is to take areas in the upper parts of the arena, and instead of having seats, they would have an open deck like area where you could stand or sort of mingle with others. He named a stadium or bball arena where this has been done, and it has gone over very well. You guys want a new 120 million dollar arena, and you want someone else to pay for it, but you want the benefits. If you want someone to pay for it, they will receive primo seating. That's life. These new arena's, with seats close to the floor, have a very steep incline. If they are going to reduce the seating to 10,000 to 12,000 seats, there will be room at the top for something.

Meh. My problem, and the reason for this thread, was the perception they're sending with the questions in the survey. It said to me that any enhancements done to Coleman will be focused on milking more money out of fans, particularly the wealthier ones. I get it's expensive to renovate Coleman, or build an entirely new facility. They say they value our input, but those questions weren't targeted at me. I'm not interested in paying $15k for season tickets for a Club level. I'm interested in going to a game in a fun, unique environment in an arena I can be proud of as an Alumnus. I'm interested in seeing our students being given better seats. I'm interested in seeing the cheap seats have better sight lines. Not a single question on the enhancements pertained to any of that, and it just rubbed me the wrong way.

Our university has an athletic department that is high profile, successful, and yes, wealthy enough that we should have facilitates that are high quality and appealing for recruits. Also, our fans, especially paying ones should have a place that is appealing to visit. If the big spenders get more out of it, good they should, a high tide raises all boats.
I'm also a little weary of yet another upgrade to Coleman. What will this be, the third or fourth time in the last 20 years? The place if fundamentally flawed. Do it right and build a solid place from scratch and put funding aside for incremental upgrades every 5-7 years.

I'd like a seat I can actually fit in as well.
I'm a big dude but not fat by any stretch. I don't fit in the damn seats. My step-father and I have to take turns leaning forward at games, absurd.
