Funny enough, Mattison took over an Ohio State defense full of talent that was awful in 2018. Turned them around immediately.

Is it Saban or is it Golding?

His defense could be fine with a better coordinator. You don't need to reinvent the wheel.

Just firing Golding isn't a full solution. Saban has to either hire a DC with his own system, or we'll keep struggling with newbies having to learn and teach his system concurrently. The latter has been a complete nightmare and Pruitt was the last DC who was allowed a respectable level of freedom and authority over concepts.

If he just can't do this, he needs to run the damn defense himself.

Leonhard would listen if the money is right. Nate Oats could talk to him since he's from the same state.

Saban either needs to start coaching and overseeing the defense himself including play calling or he needs to go out, pay the money and hire an elite DC and let him run HIS defense and stay out of the way. Saban adapted and changed on offense and now it’s time to do it on defense if he hopes to win another title before he retires or dies.

Agree 100 percent it’s almost like we have been outmatched for 2 years on defense now

Allen wasn’t great but he was far from the worst player on the field. Our entire front 7 was hot garbage and the secondary wasn’t much better.

I’m not sure how Wright ever got recruited. Dude literally looks like he doesn’t even know how to tackle.

The only solid play was from Surtain and Jobe. That’s it.

He was Saban’s DL coach for the Dolphins.

Hire anyone. Can’t be worse than Golding. Worst hire in the Saban era by far.

Coach Saban needs to do something quick this year and fix the defense. Otherwise he may lose the last chance he has to win another National Championship. I thought last year and this year would be his most golden opportunities to win Nattys. Injuries killed last year and this year its the inexplicable problem of defense so far. Next year we will have too many holes to fill.

It honestly appears as though our most promising players are Malachi Moore and Will Anderson. It’s sad that two freshman stand out so much on a team full of 5 star talent.

Will Anderson

Stood out way too many times for the wrong reason. Missed quite few tackles.
