Is it too early to worry about it ? Is this an outlier ? Is the staff more focused on the portal this year? Anyway just wanted to see what you guys were thinking and look forward to the responses.
Trust the staff's evaluations.
Lotzeir Brooks and London Simmons were both 3-stars in their recruiting class.
Keelon Russell was a 3-star when we flipped him from SMU. He ended up being our highest rated recruit ever by the final rankings of his class.
The Class of 2027 is really, really bad compared to 2028. We're loading up on 2028 kids so we're taking fewer 2027 kids.
We also need to retain our proven players during the offseason so spending money on a subpar high school recruiting class doesn't make sense financially.

I think the focus right now is on keeping the players they have on the current roster for as long as possible and only adding guys they HAVE to have:
- Elijah Haven
- one of the top WRs in the nation every year
- Why sign a RB
- Why sign a TE
- Doughty and Cooley are both very good Tackles from last years class
- Sark and Kiffin both agreed that signing top Offensive Tackles out of HS is the biggest waste of NIL money bc they command so much $$$ and you can get a 2-3 year PROVEN starter who is 22-23 years old (Javin James) for a small fraction of the price.
Defensively, they definitely need to sign a big time Edge rusher imo. Edge and CB are typically rare in the Portal (impact ones),
Other than that, look at the the depth at LB, Safety, and DL.
The focus right now is being able to pay the guys who are 1st year-4th year players on this current team and get them to return for next year.
The attrition out of the guys CKD and Staff has brought in has been crazy low.
Noah Carter, and who else has left that CKD signed? I’m sure I’m missing 1-2 but it’s not many.
Every position group is extremely talented, and will require more $$$ to keep them here as they develop into superstars.

Next year:
QB: Russell/Thomalia/ Elijah Haven (kid is so special)
RB: T Brown/ Crowell (best duo in the country next year)
WR: Brooks/C Morgan/ N Rogers/ Rico/ Meadows/ Gales
LT: Loyd
LG: Sanders
C: Delgatti
RG: M Carroll
RT: J James
(Could possibly return all 5)
TE: Edwards/Pritchett/Ford/Sutter/etc
(Best TE room you will find)
That’s as good as it gets offensively imo.
Defense
Losses:
- D Thompkins
- Y Pierre
- Caleb Woodson
- Z Brown
- Sabb
- Hubbard
I think this upcoming class will go heavy at “Edge” (by FAR the biggest need), CB and hopefully pull McNamara.
He gave the Staff his commitment but it hasn’t been announced…I’m sure NIL is a major factor of course.

I'm surprised we haven't seen Corey Howard. Thought he would've been an early contributor with his size.

WR commit Cedrick Simmons from Selma had 9 catches for 300 yards and 3 TDs against Jemison on Friday night.

I wonder if Bama wanted to use J. Carror the way we use X. Don't know how you see that in action and say no.

Cedrick Simmons big day
I think he finds his way on the field somehow next season
Selma beat Montevallo 54-7 last night. Cedrick Simmons had 5 catches for 154 yards and 3 TD.

I'm holding out hope Dakorien Moore wants to link back up with his high school QB for one last run

It wouldn't surprise me. He has established himself as an on field presence but probably not someone they're going to want to continue paying a ton of money to.

Has he been good this year after the injury
