What’s up with the Underwood confidence I’ve seen lately?

If we get Underwood it will be an unbelievable coup. Two number 1 QBs back to back? Saban will be declared a real life Unicorn.

I would rather have gotten the kid in 2026 because with NIL and free transfers there is no way a QB that good will sit for two years waiting to play only one.

Go ahead and downvote guys but that is our new reality

N'all rather get him on campus and see how it plays out. Sayin could be a bust, starter could get injured. Maybe he plays and decides to stay, never know when you are next man up. Portal reality, get as deep as you can and just see how the chips fall. If he goes out maybe another stud come back through the portal.

I know the odds are better for a stay if he is 2026 but he might Malachi Nelson it, just never know now.

Issue with that now is log jam and negative recruiting.

We'll pretty much put ourselves out if the race for a top talent in 2026 and if the 2025 kid transfers we are screwed looking through the portal for a hit or miss.

There is no perfect way but for me a system where we have a Heisman candidate on their last season, with a freshman 5* learning, then next season bringing a decent talent filler, while prioritizing the year after best QB talent.... just works.

We would always have a 5* talent either learning or starting.

QB, rather it be HS school or portal is always hit or miss and you will always have negative recruiting.

I get what you are saying but look at Clemson. They thought they were going from Watson to Lawrence to DJ, DJ wasn't good and it blew up. Now they are transitioning into Klubinik and he wasn't ready to be elite last season.

I would rather go Lincoln Riley or Ryan Day style. Just keep stacking QBs with portal and recruiting. If you want to go, go but we are going to have the best room possible year in and year out.

Completely agree. Stack all the depth you can to mitigate the effects of the portal.

Also, roster management is key. If you know Milroe has 1 more year, don’t redshirt Sayin and redshirt Underwood (if we got him). That then gives Underwood a further spread from Sayin, and more utilization time once he starts. I would venture to guess that Sayin wouldn’t be here past his junior year (if he’s as good as expected). Milroe for 1, Sayin for 2, Underwood for 2. Who knows

Just as a side the one thing I love about Bama and how we benefit is that, as far as I know, we are an upfront, competition based, development program. You know coming in, it is competition you might not play, we will seek to develop you. I know it is a different world now but there are kids who buy into that and I think a lot of them come to Bama. Saban always talks after signing day about having the right type of players. I think Milroe and Arnold are prime examples of that. I feel we have more players than other programs who are willing to stick it out.

I think right now the fear is your QB room (or any other position) more so than any other can clear out quickly which I think is fair, but I think the Saban culture insulates is from a lot fortunately, but as said by many this is a different world.

Agreed. Also, I think that the head coach’s job is to manage the program… and there are several new pitfalls that are easy to fall into. We’ve already seen TA&M fall into one: throwing money at everyone. It breeds the wrong type of culture, and it breeds jealousy among your players. Additionally, it can breed jealousy when certain players are paid more than their coaches. It can create entitlement.

I think Saban is doing a great job of utilizing NIL to enhance player’s financial status, without overusing it. We still have plenty to sell a player outside of NIL, and in doing so we are keeping the core of our program strong.

It's not really confidence, but he made a surpise visit last week and his alleged leaders are suffering coaching changes or rumored to be.

Denbrock left LSU for Notre Dame and word is the LA Chargers are going to pursue Harbaugh once Michigan's season is over.

Yeah, I've seen Bama is probably in better position which George MacIntyre.

Do. Not. Want.

No offense to the kid, but I hope he lands in Knoxville or Baton Rouge.

Bo Davis might be able to help the situation when he returns to Bama after the Playoffs.

Freddie moves to the OLBs.

Trey Moore is allegedly announcing between Alabama and Texas this afternoon.

Tim Watts said neither side knows what he is going to do. Said his recruitment went completely dark after his visit last weekend.
