I could see Amos getting into the rotation. And he’s one injury away from starting. Big pick up for the defense.

Rotation? The more I think about it I think Amos starts.

At CB over Arnold?

So what do you do with the Safety positions and Star if Amos starts at CB?

The Tide’s secondary now has a set of veteran options to pair with its freshman Caleb Downs, returning starting cornerbacks Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold, Malachi Moore, Kristian Story and Earl Little Jr. First-year player Tony Mitchell remains suspended.

“He’s actually played safety all spring long,” Saban said after Moore’s strong performance in last month’s A-Day. “He didn’t play Star at all because we’ve been developing Earl (Little) at Star. But when we had a couple guys get in the portal, they were both stars, so Malachi had to go back and play star, and Earl, who’s been practicing a lot with the ones, actually had to play with the twos because it was the best thing for the team for us to get through today and have two guys that had experience at that position.”

Man Amos must be really good. Just watching some videos of people saying he would instantly start at their school.

Saban looks for instant impact guys in the portal. Yet, some think Amos is a "depth" guy. Amos will be a starter.

Here's a short film study video of Amos from last season going up against Tank Dell.

From what I've seen we're going to use him at corner.

ETA: From BOL:

quote:

Alabama has now addressed tight end, linebacker, quarterback and cornerback via the transfer portal this offseason and could still look to add to its safety room with UAB’s Jaylen Key also on the Tide’s radar. But cornerback was clearly a post-spring priority, and Amos was brought in to not only provide depth at a position that was lacking it but also compete for a starting spot in the secondary. Given his experience, the former Ragin’ Cajun should push for playing time.

Yeah, that dude lost me right at the beginning when he said that Amos going against a WR drafted in the third round and a QB drafted in the fifth round is as good, if not better, than what he'd face in the SEC.

Some of our Florida friends aren't taking this well

Dude, Jalin Hyatt went in the 3rd round. He shaked, baked and sauteed our asses! Stop acting like every QB and WR in the SEC is super elite because they aren't. The LSU QB isn't some elite QB either. The SEC is better than other conferences b/c of the OLs and DLs. Quality skill players are pretty evenly spread throughout the country.

Dude, as has been discussed ad nauseum on this board, that was mostly a scheme issue.

How many SEC QBs were taken before the fifth round when Houston's QB was drafted? Spoiler, it's FIVE. So no, not "every QB" in the SEC is super elite, but on the vast majority of Saturdays Amos is going to play against better competition in the SEC than he did at Louisiana. That's not to say he can't hold up against such competition, but using Houston as a measuring stick for what he'll face every Saturday in the SEC is just...not a great comparison.

Correct, every QB in the SEC is not elite, but there are QBs in the SEC that are elite, and some are better than Clayton Tune.

Is that so? If you want to provide some stats or other data to back that up, I'd love to see it. I know the Joe Moore award has only been around since 2015, but here are the winners since then:
2015: Bama
2016: Iowa
2017: Notre Dame
2018: Oklahoma
2019: LSU
2020: Bama
2021: Michigan
2022: Michigan

Doesn't mean too much, that 2015 Bama OL was awful.

2016 Bama OL was one of the better Bama OL and didn't win.

2018 OU OL got mauled by a week Bama DL.

Golding should haven fired at halftime. JV coaches would have made better adjustments in the first half!

One of the top defensive players in the transfer portal, ex-UAB safety Jaylen Key, told @on3sports that he plans to make a decision on a new school before the end of the week.

He’s deciding between Alabama, Florida State and Ole Miss.
