LINK ]BREAKING: Alabama flips 5-star DB from Michigan (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Five-star defensive back Daxton Hill, the No. 1 safety in the country per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, flipped his commitment from Michigan to Alabama on Saturday evening, the Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington product announced on Twitter.
Hill a priority target of the Tide in the 2019 class chose the Wolverines after a fierce back and forth battle between Michigan and Alabama throughout the summer.
The elite defensive back officially visited Tuscaloosa back in June as well as attended A-Day, but it was UM that got him on campus in September for an official visit and ultimately sealed the deal. Alabama didn't give up on Hill and continued communicating with the All-American throughout the fall.
“Just because of the communication and the overall feel I have for that University,” Hill told BamaOnLine back in September as to why he could see himself choosing the Tide.
Hill will be the second Tulsa native to join Alabama since Josh Jacobs committed in the 2016 class. It was the Alabama junior running back that hosted Hill on his official visit and really opened his eyes to the opportunity in Tuscaloosa.

“He said it’s a great place,” Hill said. “He said it was kind of an adjustment for him coming out of Oklahoma, but he said after a couple of months it felt like home for him. He was just saying it’s a great place, a college town, and everything is enjoyable there. He said people will say negative things about it, but when you go on campus and experience it as a player it’s a whole different type of deal.
“He was just showing me different things of how life will be once you leave your state. Just hanging out with Josh kind of opened my eyes a little bit of how things can be similar and different from where I’m at right now.”
Defensive backs coach Karl Scott led the charge for Alabama in what is his first major commitment since joining the staff earlier this year.
At 6-feet, 186 pounds, Hill is rated the No. 1 safety and the No. 8 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The All-American defensive backs joins a No. 1-ranked recruiting class that consists of Christian Williams, DeMarcco Hellams, and Brandon Turnage in the secondary.
Here's what 247Sports has to stay about Hill's ability on the field:
Slender, high cut, muscular athlete. Not a frame that is built for a lot of mass but possesses enough size. Incredibly twitched up, explosive athlete. Posted some of the best combine numbers in the 2019 class. Elite range as a free safety. Versatile enough to project as a pure corner on the college or NFL level. Physical enough as an eager tackler to play safety. Provides versatility to cover quicker slot receivers. Good ball skills. Size and bulk could limit his role as an in-the-box defender. Rare athleticism and position versatility allow Hill to project as an impact player at either safety, corner or nickel at a national power. First or second round NFL Draft pick.

Damn it !!!
Had a little birdy tell me Bama had their foot back in the door with Hill a few days ago, but I didn't post it here because I thought it was bullshite.
Missed my chance for insider status !
Whatever, just glad we got him. This is the kind of commit that could start some serious momentum down to ESD.
Hank South said a few days ago his top two "cant miss" prospects in this class was Hill and Dean. Bama might sign both.

What if the GOAT closes with Hill, Carter, and Battle
Stack this DB class on top of last years unreal DB class, and we're looking at an elite no fly zone for the next four years.

My gosh, we are going to have to turn down some very good players.

Maybe that will put pressure on some to jump on board

Is Battle still in play now that Hill is on board?

I don't suppose he can enroll early can he?

Yeah, this. A few in here were vomitting out that "he doesn't stand out when you watch him in games" line they read somewhere.

I had no idea he was from Oklahoma either. Lol
