Noa Pola-Gates’ home visit goes a long way for the Tide
Noa Pola-Gates’ home visit goes a long way for the Tide', home visit goes a long way for the Tide as
Several members of Alabama’s coaching staff made a stop in Arizona earlier this week.
They were there to see one of the top defensive backs in the nation, Noa Pola-Gates. Nick Saban, Tosh Lopoi and Jeff Banks all were in attendance to visit Pola-Gates.
Their presence showed him how important he is to them.

From a Georgia poster on the SECRb:
I've asked for clarification.

I have been under impression that Clay Webb would pick Dawgs over Bama - but just heard a “relative” scenario whisper where he goes to Bama - this was the guess of said relative.
I've asked for clarification.

What's Tim Watts saying about our big remaining targets? I guess alot of these guys may truly not know yet where they are going. It's always surprising to me when guys are interviewed after they sign, how many of them say they wake up on the day they sign and still don't know. Many of them make split decisions at the signing ceremony. That's truly nuts to me, but that's how many of these guys roll. Makes it hard to project where these guys are going when they don't even know until about 30 seconds beforehand.

He hasn't really gone out on a limb and made predictions yet.
He typically waits until the day before an announcement (like Webb on Monday) and Signing Day (the 19th) before doing a prediction piece.
He does appear to think Alabama will land Sanders, Neal and Dean.

I think this is because it is VERY difficult to tell somebody No. Some of these guys have been in constant contact for 2 years

quote:
Nearly a year ago, Noa Pola-Gates was inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, going through drills at the National Combine and picturing himself running out of the tunnel to take the field in the prestigious All-American Bowl.
On Friday, the four-star defensive back from Gilbert (Ariz.) Williams Field was presented with his all-star jersey for the Jan. 5 game that he has been dreaming about for years.
"This means a lot to me because it's been a childhood dream," Pola-Gates told 247Sports. "I want to thank the Lord because without him I wouldn't be in this situation and have this opportunity. There have been people that have said I was too small, too skinny and too little, and they have motivated me and pushed me hard to get to where I am.
"I'm so excited for the opportunity to show the country what I've got but I can also test myself against the best players in the country. I think about that day at the Combine all the time. Now that I'm invited to the game, it makes it even more significant because I know I worked for it."
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Pola-Gates is the nation's No. 160 overall prospect and No. 3-rated player in the state of Arizona for the 2019 class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.
On the recruiting front, the versatile defensive back is one of the top un-committed prospects in the West region heading into the early signing period and is headed to USC this weekend for his fifth and final official visit. His cousin, Isaiah Pola-Mao, is a sophomore safety for the Trojans.
"They convinced me to get out there for a visit and I'm looking forward to seeing everything out there again," Pola-Gates said. USC head coach Clay Helton is one of the head coaches that has already dropped through Arizona for the in-home visit, along with Alabama's Nick Saban and Nebraska's Scott Frost.

The Crimson Tide have long been considered heavy favorites for Pola-Gates, the nation's No. 18-rated cornerback according to the 247Sports Composite. Alabama made a big impression during the Nov. 24 weekend on his third stop in Tuscaloosa this year and currently hold all 10 votes in the Crystal Ball predictions.
"The conversation with coach Saban was really good," Pola-Gates said. "He gave me advice on how to survive at Bama and tips on how to be successful there. That was pretty cool and I really enjoyed our meeting."
Coach Frost was also out here and they offered my cousin, Matthew (Pola-Mao), so I know that's big for him. We have talked about playing together in college for a long time but we know we've got the make the best decision for us and right now I'm considering all options."
Pola-Gates intends to reveal his college choice on Jan. 19 at the Polynesian Bowl, which will air live on CBS Sports Network from Aloha Stadium in Hawaii. He has also taken official visits to Arizona State, Nebraska and Penn State. The Sun Devils are the nearby option and are trying to keep one of the top local talents home, the Cornhuskers have made Pola-Gates a priority since offering back in the spring and his cousin is headed to play softball here, and the Nittany Lions haven't stopped pushing since Pola-Gates made it to the White Out game earlier this season.
The All-American Bowl will be played inside the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas on Jan. 5 with the national broadcast set for NBC. The game has featured 380 NFL Draft picks including 86 that have gone in the first round, 16 Heisman Finalists, 52 Super Bowl Champions and 11 NFL Rookie of the Years among its alumni.
The 2018 All-American Bowl included 42 of the top 50 overall recruits in the country and was watched by 41,017 inside the Alamodome, an All-American Bowl record for attendance.

It's been a challenging road for Ty Robinson, but he has charged on. The four-star defensive end from Gilbert (Ariz.) Higley lost his father to cancer seven years ago and, on Friday, continued to honor his legacy when he was presented with his All-American Bowl jersey in a ceremony at his school.
"My father passed away in 2011 and that has really pushed me through," Robinson told 247Sports. "It was awful seeing my mom have to deal with that, but she's pushed me to be the best man I can be to this day.
"This is surreal. It was a dream when I was younger and I didn't think I'd be able to do this my freshman year, but with all the hard work and dedication I made it a reality and I'm really excited to go there and play in January.
"I'm trying to make my dad proud through my actions and hopefully one day I can make it to the NFL and show what the Robinson family is all about."
Robinson is the nation's No. 197 overall prospect, No. 14 among strong-side defensive ends and No. 5 in the state of Arizona, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.

On the recruiting front, Robinson is done with official visits, having taken four during the recruiting process. The 6-ft-6, 285-lb lineman made trips to USC (Oct. 13), Oregon (Nov. 3), Nebraska (Nov. 17) and Alabama (Nov. 24). He has kicked off the process of in-home meetings ahead of the early signing period by drawing trips from USC's Clay Helton and Alabama's Nick Saban recently.
A majority of the Crystal Ball votes favored the Trojans before defensive line coach Kenechi Udeze was dismissed, and Nebraska has once again re-gained the momentum. Coach Scott Frost is scheduled to get the final in-home visit next Thursday, Robinson said. Oregon coach Mario Cristobal is scheduled to drop in for his in-home Sunday night.
"Catching up with USC was good because it was more about the coaching making sure I knew things were still going to be good over there," Robinson said. "Coach Saban coming was a hot topic at my school and he's a major reason why I have been considering Alabama. Coach Frost is supposed to come in next week and I'm excited for that. Coach Joe Salave'a has been in every week for Oregon and I'll be able to sit with coach Cristobal this weekend so that'll be cool."

"I'm stoked to be going and I faced a few good guys this season, but other than that there was no competition," Robinson said. "Teams would just throw triple teams on me and I'm really excited to see what I can do one-on-one. I'm excited for the opportunity to compete."

South: 10 crucial official visits to track
quote:
The Early Signing Period is less than two weeks away. December 19 is a date circled on many calendars, so these next two weekends are crucial for prospects and college coaches.
Each official visit is important and we take a look at 10 prospects in the South (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi) that plan to take official visits this weekend.

Nakobe Dean
Visiting: LSU
LSU has been in this race for a long time, so the Tigers receiving the final official visit is big. They asked for it and they received it. Ed Orgeron and his staff appear to have some real work to do though if they want to land Nakobe Dean. Alabama and Georgia are viewed as the frontrunners at this time, so will this weekend change that? He was at Ole Miss last weekend, and he still lists the Rebels, Mississippi State, Auburn and Texas A&M among his finalists. He is set to announce his decision December 19.
