Gattis is currently on the road recruiting for Alabama.
With Saban.

I don’t think Kirby will get over the hump until he substantially develops as an in game coach.
He will get there. He didn't have the luxury of starting at a school like Southern Miss and making stupid decisions without the world seeing it. He will learn.

It's nothing serious with the football program. I do think Thibs is leaning Bama though.
The football program was not punished at all. Mainly both BBall teams and women's track team

Better be some deer antler spray underneath that boot.

As far as I know, Sanders isn’t currently scheduled for an OV at UGA. Neal is coming up this weekend, but we don’t really have a shot there.
I thought I read all 3 of the IMG guys were coming. I think I read Wright from WV as well.

So, let Locksley offer Gattis. If Gattis is paying attention he will likely get the OC reigns on a solo basis at Bama in a season or two. And, from there he will be in contention for not just any jobs but ELITE jobs.

Tim Watts just said Gattis is staying at Alabama.

Rivals Rankings Week: Breaking down the 2019 offensive linemen
quote:
Rivals Rankings Week rolls on with a closer look at the offensive line position. Alabama, LSU, Penn State and others have already made their marks on the position, but there’s plenty of intrigue left as we head toward the Early Signing Period. Below, we have a closer look at the storylines that will shape signing day at the offensive line spot.

TEAM TO WATCH: Alabama
With a decision nearing for five-star offensive tackle Evan Neal, Alabama could be in line to receive some very good news. Neal, an elite offensive lineman at IMG Academy, has been committed to the Crimson Tide before, so Alabama has always been high on his list. But now, Neal’s decision is about to become official. Neal is set to sign during the Early Signing Period, and although he has taken official visits to Florida State, Miami and Oklahoma - and with one to Georgia still to come - it would be a little bit of a shocker if Neal did not ink with the Crimson Tide. Neal is one of the most improved prospects in the country over the last 18 months or so, and he fits exactly what Alabama looks for in an elite offensive lineman.

PROSPECTS TO WATCH: Clay Webb and Darnell Wright
One for now. One for later.
Lets start with Clay Webb, the No. 1 center who is expected to announce his decision Monday, Dec. 10. Will it be Alabama, Auburn, Clemson or Georgia? Webb has people guessing, and likely will continue to do so for the next few days.
Webb is different. He does not like the spotlight. He does not like to highlight his offers and visits. He does not like to publicize what he thinks about each school. What he does like though is that his recruitment is about to come to an end.
Alabama was the early favorite, but over the summer things really started to shift toward Clemson and Georgia. Auburn is viewed as the fourth school on his list, but with Webb you can't rule anyone completely out. Alabama, Clemson and Georgia are looked at as the favorites, and if Webb decided to leave the state to play for Clemson or Georgia, nobody would be shocked.
This one will end in the coming days, and then Webb will enroll at the school he chooses in January.
All eyes are on Wright, the No. 1 offensive tackle this cycle. Like Webb, the five-star out of West Virginia does not say too much about his recruitment, so that makes him that much more intriguing. Unlike Webb, Wright is an elite prospect that will take his recruitment all the way to February, so he still has some big visits to take. They are expected to start before the Early Signing Period.
Tennessee has been viewed as the frontrunner for some time now by many close to this. He has really connected with Vols assistant coach Brian Niedermeyer. Alabama is right there as well, and you can never count the Crimson Tide out for any top prospect. Georgia is set to receive an official visit this month, and the Dawgs are in this but they appear to be on the outside looking in. Ohio State and Penn State are two others to keep an eye on. Wright is a massive prospect who likes to keep things low key, so he could have most guessing up until he announces his decision in 2019.

If we sign 24-25 kids in the early period it is going to be fun to watch the full court press put on the remaining 3-4 targets on the board.
These teams that "lead" for traditional NSD signees are going to be in serious trouble when the Big Red Machine can focus solely on a handful of kids.

Gattis would have to be awfully short sighted to leave Bama right now. He's in a perfect spot with great odds of moving up with Bama in a couple of years. Taking the OC job at Maryland would be a huge risk and possibly set his career back

Not everyone places the same value on promotions and paths to HC, for example Walt Bell just took the Umass job after a year at FSU despite the job being a notorious hc killer due to the insane difficulty that comes with recruiting and winning there. Gattis can also be tempted to be back in the DMV area nearer to his roots. Doesn't mean he ever goes, but its not as simple as wait two years and then become the next OC.
