SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM

“Alabama could get all three of them. Smith is committed to Georgia but there have been a lot of rumors about him flipping. Neal has been considered a lean to Alabama for a little bit now. And Sanders has been considered a strong lean to Alabama ever since Florida kind of fell out of the picture.

“They could get all three of them. That would be quite an impressive grab from IMG and it would continue the recruiting efforts at that school next year and beyond.”

Noa Pola-Gates: "It was a great visit for me and I know they have been pushing hard from Day 1, so that means a lot. I had a bird's eye view of the Walk of Champions on Saturday before the Iron Bowl and that was just simply amazing. I like all the coaches, they see me being a big part of their secondary in the future and I really like it there.

"But honestly, other schools are making it real difficult for me right now as well because I liked all the visits. I'll keep thinking about everything and just weighing the options. ASU, Penn State, Nebraska and USC are all coming in for in-home visits this week."

Pola-Gates has OVd Arizona St, Nebraska and Penn St and will likely OV USC in Dec. He has a cousin who's a safety at USC, and ASU & USC are contenders for his 2019 4* DT cousin. He also has a cousin on Nebraska's softball team.

It sounds like Pola-Gates might not be as likely now to choose as Bama as he had been. Bama staff is expected to visit him in-home next week.

Ranking South's most important recent commitments

quote:

With less than a month to go until the Early Signing Period (December 19-21), decisions are being made.

Thanksgiving week was a big one for some of the top recruits in the South and we take a look at the top eight commitments by prospects from Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi from last week.

Don't be upset that Chris Braswell isn't on this list. He isn't from the South.

NO. 4 - JAVON BAKER TO ALABAMA

This one was over weeks before Javon Baker announced his decision. Baker earned his Alabama offer early in June, and since then, the Rivals100 junior had the Crimson Tide on top of his list. He is a sought after talent in the Peach State, but after seeing what Alabama's offense did this season, Baker knew he wanted to be a part of it in the future.

He is a weapon on the outside with speed and big play ability. The scary thing about Baker's game is — he could be just as good on defense too.

NO. 7 - ROYDELL WILLIAMS TO ALABAMA

This one came as no surprise. Roydell Williams is a strong, physical running back that can be described in one word — productive. The junior out of Hueytown rushed for over 2,700 yards and 36 touchdowns in 2018. Schools stacked the box against him, but he still put up big numbers. Williams may not be flashy with elite top-end speed, but he is plenty fast enough and he fills up that stat sheet. He looks and plays like an SEC back. Alabama has been his long-time leader and he is now on the Crimson Tide 2020 commitment list.

Zipperer is a take. Instead of taking a pure WR they want Zipperer.

That sounds like a good plan to me. It seems to me that good route running/pass catching TEs are harder to find than good WRs. Especially considering that next year looks to be a heavy WR year.

I'm also banking that we don't lose all three of the big three Soph WRs next year to the draft. I think we probably lose two but I'm assuming one returns (which would leave us with him and Waddle as stars).

Is Enos name coming up to add names to a list or is he really considering a move and a possible target. Would love to keep Hurts around but worried about incoming QBs

I woudn't worry too much about it. I've heard so many names connected to the UT OC that it's too hard to predict.

I can't imagine Hurts returns (regardless of what Enos does) but would love to have him.

I think Enos knows he will be our next OC when Locks gets a gig. I think he may wait for that opportunity. I think Pruitt is going to do fairly well at UT but that's still a pretty big gamble compared to staying at Bama (assuming he's next in line for OC - which is what Kevin Hagan said).

Last name I heard associated with UT OC (after Freeze) was actually Mcelwain.

Eta: I don't think Enos leaving would impact any current QB commits relative to their commitment (of course would love to have him for their development).

Rumor that Chip Lindsey may go to UT (to get out from under Gus and run his offense) seems to have legs. Pruitt and Lindsey are pretty close.

Caden Clark believes Alabama is the best place for him

quote:

Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class is on fire and the Tide’s 2020 tight end commit, Caden Clark, knows why.

“I think it’s awesome to see what winning does,” Clark said. “Everybody wants to come to Alabama because they are the best and that is why I am going. If you think you are the best player and you think you want to make it to the big time; you want to play for Alabama.”

Clark committed to Alabama in July. He weighed a ton of factors when contemplating his decision and then he saw a video of Tide tight end, Irv Smith, before the season.

“Honestly, I saw the way they were using their tight ends,” Clark said. “Before the season even started, Coach (Jeff) Banks and I sat down and watch tape on how they were using Irv Smith in practice. He told me that I had a similar build and I’ll be used in the same way. My dad was like where else is there to wait for and I talk to coach Saban about committing.”

Tua Tagovailoa has turned Alabama’s offense into an transcended one. Tide tight ends, Irv Smith and Hale Hentges, are catching passes left to right. Smith has caught 35 passes for 613 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Hentges has also caught two touchdown passes.

Clark has paid attention to the impact Tagovailoa has had on Alabama’s entire offense this season.

“It shows how great Tua is,” Clark said. “He took two of the best tight ends in the country and turned them into pass catchers. They were great before, but they were not used due to Alabama running the ball. It shows what a great quarterback could do. Alabama had a guy like O.J. Howard and he didn’t do much. He is now in the NFL showing what all he can do and that is the type of guys Alabama gets. I want to be the next great one.”

Alabama’s dynasty is well documented. A 30 for 30 ESPN series is going to come and several other documentaries will be created to show what Alabama did during this historical run. Every one of them will start by talking about the great job Nick Sabanand his staff did recruiting. Clark has seen the effect that Alabama’s success has had on the entire nation.

“When I went to Alabama, every single player talked about how great of man Saban is,” Clark added. “They talked about him like he is the President. When I went to every other school, no other team talked about their coach in that way.”

Clark also noticed how every other program is striving to be like the Tide.

“Every other school compared themselves to Alabama,” Clark said. “They said we have this and Alabama has that. I spent an entire 45 minutes talking to Saban and he didn’t say a single word about another school.”

The Tide’s 2020 class now has eleven commits. Every position group except offensive line has at least one verbal commit.

2020. Yeah, they all have at least one more year but I think at least one of the three comes back in 2020 (for what would be a senior year (with Waddle being a Junior)). Could definitely happen but I'm assuming you just don't end up with three WRs all getting first round grades with the ball being shared with them (along with Waddle and likely Irv).

Absolutely NOTHING New.
He does one every week, so I'm assuming he felt obligated.
He could have copy and pasted the last one and been the same info.

I get the feeling from reading various recruiting sites, at this point every recruit knows what they are going to do. (Staff probably knows also) The only one that I feel is still truly undecided is Pola-Gates. Guess we'll have to wait until Dec signing day.

Footballscoop says if interview goes well after SECCG, Lockskey is the leading candidate for the Maryland job . Happy for him if that’s what he wants . Sure hate to lose that DMV pipeline he has going

I have to think it's Canada's job if he wants it. Locksley's HC record would scare me away if I were a P5 program. He has just not been good in that capacity.

If Locksley gets that job I'll be surprised but happy for him. With that said, Alabama has I believe the largest number of its alums outside the State of Alabama in the DMV area. So, we are well entrenched there and our influence is growing.

It's not just Locksley W L record but the off the field stuff he got into including an age discrimination lawsuit by a long-time athletic department employee. Locksley fired a woman who was a secretary and everyone liked this woman. Locksley wanted a young, hot woman to replace her. The woman sued and later withdrew her claim. And, Locksley got into an altercation with an assistant. I just can't see Maryland taking him on after the Durkin situation.
