I get what you are saying remaster. We all have to be realistic about where we are. Sure we hired guys with college coaching backgrounds and strong recruiting pedigrees who were already recruiting guys that we were after, but the change in schools will damage if not completely destroy those relationships. They are going to have to start from ground zero and they will likely not be able to catch up over the next 9 months. With this class likely being the second straight disappointing class, 2020 will be critical and our new coaches will luckily have built longer relationships with that group. However with Saban being older, schools are really going to be able to effectively negatively recruit the age/retiring angle and I don't think will be able to overcome that. Also by then Jimbo will have roped off Texas, Kirby will have eliminated all competition in Georgia and Pruitt/Fulmer will be recruiting nationally and cherry picking out of Bama like he once did. With a bad 3 year window you'll start to see things fall apart even further on the DLine, followed by RB, LB and then OLine. It is hard not to be aware that the sun is now setting on this whole thing and memories of guys who made the ultimate sacrifice for our success like Leon Brown and Gehrig Dietier will be distant memories. I really hope the new staff can prove guys like me and you wrong but hey recruiting isn't for the faint of heart.
Damn it is tough being a Bama fan.

Pierce Quick @PierceQuick
I want to thank every school that’s recruited me throughout this process. it’s truly been a blessing. At this time though I am completely shutting down my recruitment. I am 100% committed to THE University of Alabama and am going to build the best class seen at Bama. #RTR

Four-star CB includes Alabama among top schools
4* CB Marcus Banks
quote:
Along with the Tide, Baylor, Florida, Georgia LSU, Notre Dame, Stanford, Texas and Texas A&M made the cut in no particular order.
The Spring (Texas) Dekaney product recently visited Tuscaloosa after picking up an offer when Nick Saban and Jeff Banks stopped in at his school in January.
“Man, it was probably the best visit I’ve been on so far,” Banks told BamaOnLine after his trip to the Capstone. “The hospitality of it was great. The coaches, they showed real love. I had a talk with Coach (Nick) Saban for about 30 minutes. I had a good feeling with him, my mom did as well. Overall, it was fantastic.”
Banks who is a teammate of former Alabama tight end commit Malcolm Epps, says the now-Texas signee encouraged him to choose the Tide when he found out he was offered.
“We were walking on Thursday after school and he told me he thinks I should go there,” Banks said. “But you know how all that works (it’s still early).”
The four-star corner was recently invited to The Opening Finals this summer after an impressive showing at the Houston regional.
At 6-foot, 170 pounds, Banks is rated the No. 31 cornerback and the No. 355 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
For now, the Crystal Ball favors Texas at 86 percent.

Five-star Tide commit shuts down recruitment (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Not that Alabama fans were questioning his status with the Tide, but five-star offensive tackle Pierce Quick announced on Twitter Sunday that his recruitment is shut down.
The Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) product committed to the Tide last April, but still planned to take visits elsewhere to enjoy the recruiting process. With his change of heart Sunday, that's no longer the case.
"I want to be the leader of this class and build the greatest class ever," Quick told BamaOnLine.
The nation's No. 4 offensive tackle, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, visited Tuscaloosa last weekend for Junior Day, and returned this past Saturday. He spoke with BOL about the focus now being on his class.
“This (class) is the main focus now. The coaches can focus on this class a lot more. The ones (visits) in January were good, too, but they were still worried about the ’18 class and all that stuff. With us being the main focus, there were a lot more people at this one. We had a ton of in-state guys there. The talent in-state for this year’s class and next year’s class is unreal. I think that will help out Alabama’s class this year.”
One of Quick's priority targets is his close friend and fellow five-star offensive lineman in Oxford (Ala.) product Clay Webb, not to mention his four-star quarterback at Hewitt-Trussville, Paul Tyson.
Quick is the Tide's top-rated commitment as it stands, helping make up the No. 9 class in the country, per the 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings.

Quick has the opposite "problem" of a lot of players. Some players look like Tarzan and play like Jane. Quick looks like Jane (only relative to some of these monster 5* guys physically) and plays like Tarzan. He's a bit smallish still and rather meek looking, but he's an assassin on his highlight video, and easy to see why he's a 5*. Great feet, mean, and an excellent technician. He'll get even better with our strength program.

The 1st thing he needs is a haircut at the new Bama Bangs hair salon.....I would suggest a flat top in his case...the kid looks more the part of the President of the National Honor Society than a mean ole football playa.

Well why the hell didn't Epps stay committed. Must've been told to look around.

Dang, I hate I used a celebratory post number to drop all that sober reality on the megathread but I guess that is how it goes in recruiting.
I am excited that we have someone who is looking to be a recruiter in the class though. Honestly I think Quick, Webb, Tyson and Tualia will all be great recruiters for this class depending on if and when they jump on board. They will help kill it for us in state. Now I just want to see someone on defense and from out of state take a leadership role in recruiting for this class. Then things might get epic.

I think Taulia can be the best recruiter. He has the name being Tua lil brother. Kids should flock to him.

Maybe Christian Harris will. I heard Tosh asked him to and he's willing. I've been hoping he'd pull the trigger and publicly commit this weekend. It'd also be great if Dean or Pickering would commit and work on the other Miss. studs we're after. Idk, if Turnage knows any of them well or not.

I thought one of the insiders said Harris was suppose to go public today.
Posted on 3/4/18 at 4:17 pm to Tide or Die87
Yep. That's what I was refering to. But he wasn't 100% sure it would happen. Devonta Lee is another one who I think could commit soon.
