David Ugwoegbu

Ugwoegbu is a jumbo athlete prospect who could end up projecting to tight end or defensive end at the college level. His older brother, Bright Ogwoegbu, started 20 games at linebacker for Oregon State in a career that just ended. The close proximity of Ogwoegbu to Texas A&M has been one reason speculation exists for the four-star to end up an Aggie, but other schools are making a push including Oklahoma and Alabama. A decision is expected this fall.

Best Available: Ten safeties still on the board

quote:

Nearly 75 percent of the Rivals250 in the class of 2019 were committed to college programs entering their senior year. That leaves a very small pool of potential prospects as programs gear up for the early signing period, which starts on Dec. 19. This week we take a position-by-position look at the top prospects still on the board.

Daxton Hill

The safety position is not as deep at the top as previous classes have been, but Hill stacks up very well with the best safeties to come out in recent years. There are few flaws in the game of the five-star, who combines excellent speed with tremendous ball skills and tackling ability. Hill has not released a top group since April when he named Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma as favorites. There is no declared timetable for a decision.

Noa Pola-Gates

Among the teams still pursuing safety prospects, Alabama has to like where they sit. They are the suspected team to beat for five-star Dax Hill, and Arizona product Noa Pola-Gates has had the Crimson Tide atop his list for several months. Can they take both? Will they take both? If not, the teams sitting next best for Pola-Gates appear to be Nebraska, Penn State and USC. Official visits to Penn State (Sept. 28) and Nebraska (Oct. 20), along with a Nov. 23 trip to Alabama, have been scheduled.

LINK ]What we're hearing on 5-star DB Dax Hill
(Hank South, BOL-VIP)

Follow up on Hill's Michigan OV -- bottom line:

From everything we've gathered, I'm continuing to ride with my pick for Hill to choose the Tide at this point.

(247Sports - Michigan)
quote:

The expectation continues to be that Hill will make a decision sooner rather than later, but nothing concrete at this point. I am inclined to believe now that the sooner he decides the better it is for Michigan.

Note: Michigan's main pitch was their depth chart -- playing early. But they don't really have much, if any, advantage there since D Thompson is fairly likely to enter the draft. Charles Woodson (3 UM coaching staffs ago) was their illustration of how they'd develop and use Hill. UM pitched academics too, but Hill's likely major is jouralism, and Bama did a great job on the academic front during Hill's OV. It appears to me Bama set the bar and Michigan just cannot match it.

Watch:Taulia throws for over 500 yards

quote:

Alabama quarterback commit Taulia Tagovailoa put on a show Friday night in Thompson High School's brand new football stadium, passing for 507 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 35-21 win over Oak Mountain.

Rated the No. 6 pro-style quarterback and the No. 181 overall player in the country, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Tagovailoa is putting together a stellar senior season. Through four games, Tagovailoa has thrown for 1,620 yards and 17 touchdowns to just one interception.

On pace to throw for over 4000 yards and 40 touchdowns.

LINK ]Eboigbe updates status of Alabama pledge (BamaOnLine-VIP)

Tide commit Justin Eboigbe plans to visit Bama for the Texas A&M game and OV the following weekend for the ULL game, but said he might move his OV to a later date. He has no other visit plans. “I’m still fully committed. There’s no doubt in my mind... I look forward to getting down there and getting acclimated with all the coaches and players and make the best out of these next years down there.”

Wait they can't be right, I thought all the other SEC coaches were telling the hs seniors that you'll never play at Alabama as a freshman

At least they realize they can't say they developed Jabrill Peppers into a good DB.

Great athlete, average football player. Their PR team did a hell of a job promoting him...

Lia has a cannon.

How much longer before he rises through the rankings.

I read this quote today in an SDS online news story and I am sharing it.

quote:

Alabama walked into Ole Miss’ house, ate everything in the fridge, drank directly out of the milk carton and put their feet all over the Rebels coffee table as if they owned the place.

Webb and his mom came to the Ark St game. And, it's an initial list; there may be additions. Also, Webb could show up without informing BOL. He doesn't talk much to the media about his recruitment.
