Cotton is a Sr not a 5th year. He played his freshman year, never took a redshirt. He was with the class of 2015 out of Tuscaloosa.

OXFORD, MS -- Top-ranked Alabama advanced to 3-0 (1-0 SEC) with its 62-7 win over Ole Miss on Saturday in the Crimson Tide’s first road game. And in its Week 3 conference game, a total of 10 true freshmen from Alabama’s No. 5-ranked signing class from the 2018 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, saw the field at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Twelve freshmen made the trip to Ole Miss as part of Alabama’s travel squad with two players -- defensive lineman Stephon Wynn and center Emil Ekiyor making their debuts. Only linebacker Cameron Latu and defensive lineman Christian Barmore did not enter the contest.
It will be interesting to see how Nick Saban and company choose to use the Tide’s freshmen this year because of the new redshirt rule, which allows players to play in up to four games and still maintain a year of eligibility. And here, we help you keep with that by tracking all of the true freshmen that entered the game in Alabama’s league opener in Oxford on Saturday night.

PATRICK SURTAIN II -- No. 1 CB, No. 6 overall in 2018 rankings
Surtain entered the game at right corner on Alabama’s second defensive series after Saivion Smith gave up a 75-yard touchdown. The former 5-star recruit was used in base, nickel and dime with the first-team defense after that play, and he recorded one tackle. He matched up with Ole Miss’ talented receivers and helped hold the Rebels to 58 passing yards after the first play.
“We changed the corners around and put a bigger guy on (D.K. Metcalf),” Saban said of the game’s first play. “Patrick did a good job against him, and we put Trevon (Diggs) on him and he did a good job on him. We didn't give up any more big plays after that.”
JAYLEN WADDLE -- No. 5 WR, No. 39 overall in 2018 rankings
After a quiet week in Week 2, Waddle returned one punt for 37 yards and caught one pass -- a highlight, finger-tip reception from Mac Jones -- for 30 yards in the receiver’s first SEC game.

EYABI ANOMA -- No. 1 OLB, No. 4 overall in 2018 rankings
Anoma entered the game at outside linebacker in the fourth quarter and recorded three tackles. His season-high tackles total led all true freshmen that played against Ole Miss on Saturday.
JOSH JOBE -- No. 14 CB, 109 overall in 2018 rankings
Jobe saw the field at left cornerback with the second-team defense and contributed on special team on kickoffs late in the contest. The forme 4-star recruit registered one tackle in Oxford.
STEPHON WYNN -- No. 3 SDE, 74 overall in 2018 rankings
Wynn made his UA against the Rebels after returning to practice this week after missing more than a month with a ligament strain. He saw the field in the fourth quarter and made one tackle.
JAYLEN MOODY -- No. 49 ILB in 2018 rankings
Moody played on punt return late. He did not record any stats.

SKYLER DELONG -- No. 4 P in 2018 rankings
Alabama’s offense was efficient, to say the least, Saturday, and so DeLong was only on the field for two punt. His pair of kicks traveled 74 yards for an average of 37.0 yards and a long of 39.
JEROME FORD -- No. 12 RB, No. 370 overall in 2018 rankings
Ford carried the ball twice in the fourth quarter for no gain. He also lined up on kickoffs.
ALE KAHO -- No. 7 ILB, No. 133 overall in 2018 rankings
Kaho played on all four special teams units -- kickoff return, kickoff, punt return and punt. But the late addition to Alabama’s 2018 signing class did not register any stats against Ole Miss.
EMIL EKIYOR -- No. 3 center, 113 overall in 2018 rankings
According to Alabama’s participation chart, Ekiyor made his debut against the Rebels as the lone first-year offensive lineman to travel to Oxford. He has been the third-team center.

THE GLORY YEARS JUST GOT BETTER AT ALABAMA
By: Larry Burton
Watching Alabama dismantle Ole Miss’ defense in the first half of last week’s game was a shocking revelation. Just when you thought thought that the glory years that Alabama was having under Nick Saban couldn’t possibly get any better, they do.
With Tua Tagovailoa under center, it is now not outside of the realm of possibility that Alabama can score each time they possess the ball.
Alabama could have hung 80 points on every team they’ve played so far this season if Saban had chosen to keep his foot on the gas and just let Tua does what he does so darn well.
Alabama is like the old gorilla joke in golf, “Yes, he can drive the ball four hundred yards each tee shot, but he four puts on the green.” They’ve always been a team with a killer defense but an offense that sputters. Now they have a putter and opposing teams can only shutter at what they see coming at them.
Try and defend any one of the talented receivers one on one and Tua will burn you with the man you left man to man. Play a nickle or dime package on them and they’ll kill you with the running backs they have in equal abundance.
Whether it’s Damien Harris breaking a 75 yard run or Tua throwing a 75 yard TD, this is an offense that just needs to be admired while it’s still in existence and just marvel at what they can do.
As Alabama faces tougher SEC opponents, there is no doubt in anyone’s mind at this point that even the best SEC defenses and they are some of the best defenses in the nation, have any clue how to stop this offensive machine that is cranking out scores at will. Most won’t even have a clue how to slow it down.
While on the other side of the ball, Alabama’s “Nasty Boys” defense is putting together another one of those years where they just go out and impose their will on offenses and limit not only production, but scoring as well.
Folks, I am 61 years old this season and have lived through and written about an awful lot of good football teams and have never seen a team this complete on both sides of the ball in my life. OK, the field goal kicking isn’t perfect, but when you’re putting up 60 points plus on an SEC team, you may can overlook that small flaw on the team.
Earlier this year a coach was overheard saying, “If this team lives up to what they’re capable of, they’ll score on every drive.” I thought that was a little too optimistic at the time, but now I see why they felt that way.
And folks, so many of the stars that are that making this offense the unstoppable juggernaut that it is are only sophomores. Can the glory years get any better? I’d say it’s certainly possible.
Right now there’s Alabama and every other team is playing for second place. If there’s a team out there can beat this team, they haven’t shown it in the first three games.
Enjoy this season folks, this may be the one I tell my grandkids about someday and they may have to look it up to believe it. I can hardly believe it myself.

Alabama Football: Final thoughts on player performances against Ole Miss
Let’s review the top Alabama football players against Ole Miss and also encouraging progress from another group of Crimson Tide players.
The Alabama football win over Ole Miss was a team victory. Tide players on both sides of the ball had highly productive games. On Monday, the Alabama football coaching staff will hand out POTW awards. We are trying a broader approach by listing every player who appeared, from our television view, deserving of top player recognition.
Just outside our top list, is a second list designating players for encouraging performance. Our conclusions are only loosely tied to player stats and our perception is admittedly subjective.
No doubt we probably missed some strong play by other Tide players, particularly in the trenches. We begin with the Alabama football defense, given the Ole Miss offense offered the strongest competition on the night.

Top Defensive Players
Note: the bullets are intentionally not numbered to avoid the appearance of a ‘best’ ranking.
Trevon Diggs – Diggs made two sensational plays knocking away well-thrown passes. The first pass breakup (PBU) might have prevented an Ole Miss touchdown when the game was tied 7-7. His stat line for the game was one tackle and two PBU’s.
Quinnen Williams – Williams was again a force in the middle of the defense. His quickness and smarts make him tough to shut down. For the game, he was credited with six tackles and a QB hurry (QBH).
Christian Miller – Miller had easily his best game of the season. He made five tackles that included 2.5 for a loss and 2.5 sacks.
Deionte Thompson – Deionte had four tackles and an interception and 40-yard return. More importantly, he makes everybody in the secondary better.
Xavier McKinney – X had three tackles, a forced fumble and a pick-six from thirty yards out.
