Alabama defensive line commitment Byron Young tells BamaOnLine he plans to officially visit LSU in early November when the Tigers host Alabama as well as Florida the first weekend of October when the Gators host LSU. This weekend, the 4-star defensive end plans to unofficially visit Ole Miss as the Rebels get set to host the Tide.
Young's HS coach: “He’s not going to be one of those kids that flops around and changes his mind... I feel pretty strong about where he’s committed to go, I really do.”
Hank: "I think he’s solid at this point. Will watch the visits, but I don’t think there should be too much concern at this point."

Best Available: Ten linebackers still on the board

Nearly 75 percent of the Rivals250 in the class of 2019 were committed to college programs entering their senior year. That leaves a very small pool of potential prospects as programs gear up for the Early Signing Period, which starts on Dec. 19. This week we take a position-by-position look at the top prospects still on the board.

Nakobe Dean
The highest-ranked inside linebacker in the 2019 class, Dean kicked off his official visit tour early with a trip to Alabama back in June. Other summer visits to Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M were unofficial. If those trips revealed a top team for Dean, he has kept it to himself and the four-star hasn’t updated his favorites list since March. Fall official visits are being set, however, with Georgia (Oct. 6) and LSU (Dec. 7) locked in and others fighting for the final two spots.

Henry To'oto'o
After trimming his list of 20-plus scholarship offers to a top eight in June, To’oto’o pared that group even further by naming a top five at the end of August that consisted of Alabama, Cal, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington. The northern California product is serious about looking nationally and the SEC programs, Alabama and Tennessee, are looking like the teams to beat going into the fall. Official visit dates and locations are expected to be announced next by To’oto’o.
If we can't beat out a limp dick Tennessee for Darnell Wright and To'oto'o I'm going to be pissed.

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, recruiting-wise, so I'm going to post some articles that haven't been brought here yet even though some of them are a little dated.

UT going 3-9 (0-8) in 2018 isn't all that unlikely. A really bad season could lead to losing some of their top commits; e.g., Wanya Morris to Auburn or Clemson and Lakia Henry to ATM.

Recruits don't care about things like that unfortunately. "We lost so many games because we didn't have you out there" is a bullshite line a lot of those kids are too naive to see for what it is.

I think that's true for some recruits, but I think a lot of the top tier recruits prefer stable top tier programs with proven HCs that are consistently recruiting well and winning big.

That depends on what you mean by top tier. I'm not saying you're going to start seeing 5* players line up to turn Wake Forest or Oregon State into elite football programs. Programs like that don't have the money, fan support, championship pedigree, etc. to sell to kids in lieu of current success. Tennessee and FSU do even though they are both raging dumpster fires right now.

To add to this you will get: We're in the same conference. You will play the same teams and get just as much exposure here. Also you will start here day 1. Go somewhere you can play. Don't go to a big name just to sit the bench.
Kids don't realize they're insulting them to their face. Saying they're not good enough to play at a place like Bama. That's recruiting line #1 when teams are battling Bama for recruits.

It's fair to say UT and FSU are top tier programs historically, but like you said they're dumpster fires right now and UT has been for a long time. It's a lot easier for a proven HC (like Jimbo at ATM) to attract and sign top tier recruits to be part of a "turnaround" than it will be for Pruitt. Dooley and Jones failed at it despite pretty good recruiting classes. UT's rebuild is more likely to be gradual and take several years at best.

Pruitt though is saying this is my first year and I did not recruit most of these guys. I am here to rebuild what once was a top program and want you to help me. The same line worked for Dooley and Jones. It will take 2 or 3 years to see if he can or just like them fail. Pruitt though does not have the luxury as the window gets smaller for each new HC and now that Fulmer is waiting in the wings it will be even smaller.

Yeah I don't know where they come up with that other than it's just a lame negative recruiting schtick......I mean it's not like Bama doesn't have a history of playing freshman. If you are good, you will play. Some positions may have a bigger learning curve and maybe some years we are particularly deep at a position. Sometimes Saban has a development plan in place for these guys for them to really learn the craft first which means maybe they don't see the field as much as they would like initially. In those cases, it generally works out well for them as they are better positioned come draft time. Generally, it has not been an issue though.
