After taking three players late in the 18 class, Bama can only take 25 this year. The 18 class could only take 23 players and that is how many ended up in the class, so no back counting.
Bama has 21 commitments for the 19 class. Turnage and Cheney won't be a part of this class.
I'm going to guess Bowles either blueshirts or isn't part of this class. Going to guess that Tyson also blueshirts.
That leaves 8 spots for this class. Which should be enough spots to fill the remaining needs at DL and ILB and grab some elite players.

I wouldn't bet on Turnage not being in the class. He's a very good and versatile DB and WR.
Blueshirting is impossible with the signing limit rule change (effective for 2018 cycle).
Reichard and/or Bowles might greyshirt. Bowles is a very good and versatile OL prospect (T/G/C). I think Bowles and Turnage will stay in the class.
If Tyson's family pays his way until 2nd term of 2019 he could then count against 2020 limits.
If Tyson does that + 2 greyshirts: 25 + 1 + 2 = 28.

I think Saban is about to start turning the screws on the prospects that are left after the Dalcourt commit. After the early signing period I think the only spot left is going to be for Ish Sospher (and whatever his back up plan is if he chooses to go elsewhere). I think Wright will sign early and then commit at the All Star game if not earlier. If you are not on board by ESD I think the staff is moving on this year.
If Cheney drops and we get the 2 grey shirts and Tyson to pay that leaves us with 8 slots.
I don't think we are getting as many 5 stars as previously believed, but that doesn't concern me.
Currently it sounds like we are good with:
Trey Sanders
Dax Hill
Siaka Ika
Ish Sospher
Neal or Wright
Some Mystery Dlineman
That would leave two spots for Webb, Dean, Thibodeaux, Devonta Lee, Tuitele, Diabete, W. Robinson etc.
Obviously this is all my conjecture. I am really anxious to see how this finally plays out. Especially with the LB position. Part of me feels like someone we were never expecting ends up being our LB commit.

If I we're in Saban's shoes, I'd challenge Wright and Neal: "I have 1 spot in this National Title(s) class for a future NFL 1st round LT ($MM). The first to commit and shut it down gets the spot."

4 DL commits: Dale, Alfano, Eboigbe and Young.
I doubt Bama takes 7 DL. I think 5-6 max. I don't even see a big need to take Sopsher and Ika both with Dale already on board. We also already have Jayson Jones committed for 2020.

Our favorite LSU mod CB’d 2020 4* DT Camron Jackson to Bama on Thursday.

Imagine a DL class of Jayson Jones, Camron Jackson, and McKinley Jackson in 2020.

I agree with you but nothing makes much sense this year. Everytime we think he have a good idea about what position and how many the staff throws us a curve ball. For instance I think we are still somewhat concerned about ILB, but I think with Kaho, Lee, and King the staff is somewhat comfortable. I personally wouldn’t be shocked if we didn’t take any more ILBs or even a hybrid like Devonta Lee. With Bone pointing towards an unexpected Dline commit (admittedly it could be Ika) and us having a strong chance of landing both Ika and Sospher, I wouldn’t be shocked if we took 7.

Despite the surprises so far, I'd still be surprised if we took 7 DL. Only 3 DL at time can play. We don't need or have room for 7 DLs. We need a 6th LB much more. LB is an injury prone position.

Man I completely be forgetting about Eboigbe being in our class. We already have a pretty stacked d line class to be honest.

LINK ]Tom Herman denies role in Zach Smith reporting (ESPN)
quote:
Texas football coach Tom Herman has denied a report that he was involved in publicizing alleged abuse by Zach Smith that led to the then-Ohio State assistant coach's firing.
A report published on Facebook on Saturday said Herman tipped college football reporter Brett McMurphy to look into Smith's relationship with his ex-wife Courtney and multiple allegations of physical abuse.
Herman, through a spokesman, said the report was "absolutely untrue" and denied that his wife, Michelle, contacted McMurphy either.
"Neither I, nor anybody in my family, has ever communicated with Brett McMurphy about the situation at Ohio State," Tom Herman said.
McMurphy also tweeted a denial that Tom Herman was a source in his reporting.
Herman did acknowledge that in March 2017 his wife offered Courtney Smith financial assistance but added they had "not provided any financial assistance since then."
Zach Smith was fired in July after reports about the alleged abuse. Ohio State is investigating whether coach Urban Meyer knew about a 2015 incident involving the Smiths and did not properly report it at the time.
Herman was Meyer's offensive coordinator at Ohio State from 2012 to 2014, along with Smith, who was part of the offensive staff.

I'm pretty sure they exaggerated his weight loss. He looks good. I'm sure it will take a while to get in football shape, but that video was encouraging
