It'd be funny if it was all just an attempt to get his brother on at a big time P5 program and he has intended to sign with us all along.

OK fellas, today is going to be the last day I will be able to post articles for awhile.

So, I'm going to try to play catch up from the last couple days regarding the Opening/Elite 11 coverage.

Bear with me.

ETA: I'm gonna start with Day 1 stuff and work my way forward. If some of the stuff has already been posted here then read it a second fricking time because I'm not going back 6 pages.

quote:

FRISCO, Texas — 247Sports brings you a look at quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa from day one of The Opening Finals 2018.

Check out footage of the Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson four-star signal-caller and Alabama commit in action.

WATCH: Tagovailoa wins long toss competition at The Opening

quote:

FRISCO, Texas -- Alabama quarterback commit Taulia Tagovailoa may have ranked No. 8 among the signal callers in attendance at The Opening Finals on Sunday evening, but it was No. 1 where the Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson product placed in the long ball toss.

Tagovailoa's throw of 66 yards edged out Auburn commit Bo Nix's 64-yard throw. Other quarterback in the competition included Florida State commit Sam Howell, Michigan commit Cade McNamara and Colorado commit Ty Evans, among others.

Quick impressions of the QBs from Day 1 at The Opening

quote:

FRISCO, Texas – Today was Day 1 1 at The Opening Finals for the media, but the second workout for the quarterbacks, wide receiver and tight ends. It was mostly an install day where the players worked out with the 7v7 teams they will be competing with on Monday and Tuesday.

It was low intensity, a lot of instruction and not the easiest day to evaluate. Saying that, we still saw a lot of throws. Overall, it was a good day for the quarterbacks as we didn’t see anyone really struggle or look out of place. That's not something we say every year.

Here’s a quick look at what we thought of each quarterback and how they performed earlier today. Quarterbacks are ranked in alphabetical order, not based on performance.

Taulia Tagovailoa, 6-0, 202, Thompson (Ala.)- Tagovailoa rivals Howell for arm strength and looked very good throwing in red zone drills. Solid mechanically, improved foot work and accuracy have helped his stock rise quite a bit. Committed to Alabama.

Quick impressions of the pass-catchers from Day 1 at The Opening

quote:

FRISCO, Texas – The first day at The Opening Finals is nothing but an appetizer. It’s a small taste of what’s to come. The wide receivers, tight ends and quarterbacks got together for a light throwing session in preparation for the week to come. While it wasn’t enough to extract any major conclusions, it did offer a setting for some first impressions. Among the pass-catchers, here were some initial takeaways.

Human highlight reel

If you’re looking for a guy ready to go viral at any moment, keep the camera on George Pickens. The Auburn commit (No. 53 overall in the 247Sports Composite) is a physical specimen with great length and body control and even though he had a couple of drops on the day, he also had the most spectacular catches of the day, including a one-handed back-corner end zone grab.

Day 1 bounce

Athletically, Jameson Williams popped to us on Saturday. A wide receiver with verified track speed, Williams is skinny but long and he’s got a lot of spring in his legs. He’ll need to show that he can be physical and play through contact this week but he’s got the kind of athleticism that is evident quickly.

Position recap from The Opening Finals: Running backs

FRISCO, Texas — Sunday's event at The Opening Finals saw players break up into a camp-like setting to work on position-specific drills and 1-on-1s. Here are observations from watching the running backs work out at the The Star.

I'm not going to post anything other than kids we are in on. I don't have time for that shite today.

Trey Sanders …The No. 1 running back and the No. 7 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite showed good open field ability with a few slippery cutbacks during the 2-on-1 competition. He has great size and strength, but it was his agility that flashed several times in the drills against linebackers. His acceleration is also off the charts as he showed why Florida, Alabama and Georgia are each in the mix for him.

Alpha Dog

Wanya Morris ... The Nation's No. 5 offensive tackle on the 247Sports Composite continued his torrid camp circuit with another impressive performance Sunday afternoon. Morris lost his last rep against Kayvon Thibodeaux but otherwise was unbeatable due to his lightning quick first step. Morris had arguably the most impressive two reps of the day against his high school teammate, Alabama defensive end commit Kevin Harris. At 6-foot-5.5, 295 pounds, Morris has tremendous upside and is a legitimate left tackle prospect in the class and the Tennessee commitment showed his wingspan and athleticism can win against both power inside and speed outside.

Next Three Standouts

quote:

Evan Neal ... At 6-7.5, 391 pounds, Neal is the largest player in attendance at The Opening Finals. While he will undoubtedly look to trim weight at the next level, it created no issues for Neal as he showed nimble feet against speed and turned Michigan commitment Stephen Herron to the ground. Neal chops his feet well for his size and is very difficult to beat via bull rush due to his initial punch. Miami appears to be in good shape for the massive lineman.

Hank South says we are starting to become a player for Neal again.

Darnell Wright ... Wright looked extremely comfortable in position drills and, at 6-6, 314, might have the most college-ready build of the group. Wright lost a rep here and there, but in his wins, Wright showcased dominant form against wide-nine techniques and made an early run at Alpha Dog. Wright knows how to get out of his stance quickly and efficiently and his wingspan really allows him to box out and defend against inside counter moves. Ohio State, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia are among the teams in the race for the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle.

EMPTYING THE NOTEBOOK

quote:

- Siaki Ika and his 347 pounds provided issues for centers all day, but Ohio State commitment Harry Miller was able to find the answers in his last two battles by utilizing a good punch and then just maintaining his base. Miller has a nasty streak, but on Sunday he showed he can win with technique as well.

Five-star center Clay Webb is considered a heavy Alabama lean but he said Sunday that Auburn's Gus Malzahn is the head coach he is closest to at this time. Webb split reps against Jacob Bandes, an accomplishment in itself with Bandes having the most dominant performance among the defensive linemen on Day 1.

- Alabama commitment Pierce Quick had an up-and-down day, but on the reps he won, he showcased great balance, which is very important. Often linemen end up on the ground in this competition, which is not where you want to be.
