Take a wild guess as to what you think an alter is

Look i'm new to these parts. I don't speak this language.

You're now the 3rd or 4th person who's tossed out the word "alter" and can't define it.

It's cool with me if you don't know what it means man. Just consider not using until you learn the definition, that's all.

Maybe it doesn't mean what you think it means or maybe it does. I wouldn't know.

I can't work like this!

I keep a post of expected commitment timelines. The most recent is one page back. TidalSurge also posted an article on the same page with the info you seek. Currently he plans to commit during his senior football season.

Previewing the position battles on the line at The Opening

quote:

FRISCO, Texas — The Opening Finals features over 160 of the nation’s top high school football players, who will face off for three days of head-to-head competition. The elite camp is taking place at The Ford Center at The Star, headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. The event pits the best against the best, and recruiting rankings are sure to change once the dust settles in Texas.

247Sports takes a look at current position rankings, and what moves could take place atop each position after The Opening Finals.

QUARTERBACKS

Florida State commit Sam Howell of Monroe (N.C.) Sun Valley is currently ranked as 247Sports’ No. 1 signal caller in the 2019 class. However, after an impressive showing at the Elite 11 Finals in June, Oklahoma quarterback commit Spencer Rattler of Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle is in prime position to overtake Howell with a strong showing in Texas. Howell has not disappointed during his various stops throughout the offseason, but Rattler’s electric arm and quick release have thoroughly impressed to tighten this battle at the top.

In the state of Alabama there is battle brewing between Auburn commit Bo Nix of Pinson Valley (Ala.) and Alabama commit Taulia Tagovailoa of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson. Tagovailoa sits as the No. 1 quarterback in the state and No. 6 overall signal caller, while Nix is No. 2 in the state and No. 8 overall. Nix has been the model of consistency throughout the offseason, and while the ball jumps out of Tagovailoa’s hand, his lack of height could be a factor. The two will throw side by side this week and duke it out for top billing in the Yellowhammer State.

RUNNING BACKS

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star running back Trey Sanders has been ranked as the top ball carrier for quite some time. The 5-foot-11.5, 216-pound Sanders is powerful and elusive, and the contenders to unseat him at the top look to be thin at The Opening Finals.
However, keep an eye on these three backs: Stanford commit Austin Jones of Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd, Eric Gray of Memphis (Tenn.) Lausanne Collegiate School, and LSU commit Tyrion Davis of Baton Rouge (La.) Southern University Lab.

Jones is a versatile athlete that can fill several different rolls including as a receiver and a return man in addition to his running back duties. Gray is an extremely productive back topping 3,000 yards rushing and 40 touchdowns as a junior. Davis is a combine freak that ran a 4.53-second forty at 6-foot-0.5, 227 pounds.

OFFENSIVE LINE

Darnell Wright of Huntington (W.V.) is the current No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2019 class by 247Sports. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Wright has the size, is powerful and nimble.
However, look out for Enokk Vimahi of Kahuku (Hawaii) this weekend to make a possible move. The 6-foot-4, 286-pound has the athletic profile of you want at tackle.

LSU commit Kardell Thomas of Baton Rouge (La.) Southern University Lab is ranked the No. 1 offensive guard by 247Sports. That No. 1 ranking is very much in jeopardy as Penn State commit Caedan Wallace and Duke Clemens of Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou surge up the charts after very strong off-seasons.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Perhaps the most anticipated battle of at The Opening Finals is at defensive end. Lewis Center (Ohio) Olentangy Orange’s Zach Harrison is currently No. 1, while Georgia commit Nolan Smith of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy sits at No. 2. Both are athletic, but at 6-foot-5.5, Harrison has more length than Smith, who checks in at 6-foot-3. However, Smith is a twitched up edge rusher with surprising power, and he very much has a chance to topple Harrison this week.

Perhaps a sleeper pick at the defensive end spot is Purdue pledge George Karlaftis. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound West Lafayette (Ind.) product ran a 4.77-second forty and looks to be a big, powerful, athletic edge rusher on film. This will be a big opportunity for Karlaftis to prove he should be considered one of the nation’s best.

At defensive tackle, it looks to be a two man battle for the top spot. Ishmael Sopsher of Amite (La.) currently holds the top spot, but overall athleticism is a bit of a concern for the 6-foot-3.5, 330-pounder. Travon Walker of Thomaston (Ga.) Upson-Lee has the athletic profile you are looking for at 6-foot-5, 263-pounds, going sub-5.0-seconds in the forty, while also getting looks to play college basketball. However, Walker’s on-field performance has not been quite as good as Sopsher’s.
