I really wanted to join again after 9/11, but I felt bad. I had scored really high on my "asvab" or whatever test that is. I was promised all kinds of things by military recruiters
I took that test as a senior in high school back in 1983. The Navy sent a guy to recruit me specifically; he said my scores made me the ideal candidate for officer's training and then serving on a nuclear submarine.
He made it sound outstanding, and I was on the verge of joining ... but I told him I like to sleep with the window open.

His name has never been brought up really when talking about ILBs. I’ll check that out.
Maybe Bama doesn't plan to take more than two ILBs -- Shane Lee and Nakobe Dean -- given that King Mwikuta and Devonta Lee could also play ILB. Maybe Christian Harris won't get a spot unless they miss on Dean or Thibodeaux (OLB).
I just hope it doesn't end up like last year, when they didn't take Kaho, because they liked Quay Walker and JJ Peterson better. We ended up taking Jaylen Moody. Harris might go ahead and commit elsewhere like Kaho did. I'm no expert, but Harris looks like a stud Bama LB to me.
I keep hearing Bama wants to take two TEs and 2-3 WRs. But our young TE and WR depth will make them tougher to land in this cycle and should also make them a lower priority. To me, it makes more sense to take Harris if he wants in. But, I must defer to the GOAT and his staff.

What does our ILB roster currently look like?
1. Mack Wilson Jr Starter
2. Dylan Moses So Starter
3. Joshua McMillon RS Jr
4. Keith Holcombe RS Sr (may not return)
5. Ben Davis RS So (????)
6. VanDarius Cowen So (possible suspension)
7. Markiel Benton So (possible suspension)
8. Jaylen Moody Fr
Is this correct or do I have some people out of position or missing?

That's very close. Btw, there's a handy link to the 2018 85-man roster breakdown in the first post of this thread. Here are the LB sections:
(* = redshirt)
Inside Linebacker (8)
SR: Keith Holcombe*
JR: Mack Wilson, Joshua McMillon*
SO: Dylan Moses, VanDarius Cowan, Ben Davis*
FR: Markail Benton*, Jaylen Moody
Outside Linebacker (9)
SR: Christian Miller*, Jamey Mosley*
JR: Anfernee Jennings*, Terrell Lewis
SO: Christopher Allen
FR: Jarez Parks, Eyabi Anoma, Jordan Davis, Cameron Latu
Allen and Parks are pretty good fits to be crossed-trained at ILB. Parks is about 15 lbs heavier than normal for ILB but he's speedy, athletic and quite good in pass coverage.

Been out of the loop for a week or so but is Jordan Davis gonna make it in?
Posted on 6/17/18 at 8:36 am to TidalSurge1
That is frustrating to look at because that means we should be fine. If Cowan and Benton weren't making mistakes off the field and if Davis had it together on the field, I wouldn't be too concerned with LB recruiting. That being said, I know most won't agree with this, but if Dean and Harris are not in this class, I think Patterson and Diabate both would do well at Bama playing inside.

Jury is still out, but I'm not hearing much optimism that he'll make it in.

I tend to agree, but Patterson and Diabate are not as physically ready as Dean and Harris. So I think Harris is likely ahead of them both on the board. Mwikuta is pretty versatile too, like Diabate and Patterson. Also, I'm starting to think Bama might be planning for Devonta Lee to be a versatile LB, given that we're in pretty good shape with top safety targets.

I agree that is another reason the Benton, Cowen and Davis situations are so frustrating. They wouldn't need to be ready if there weren't concerns there. You would have Moses, Benton, Cowan, Davis and Moody with Shane Lee basically ready to go. Then those guys could get a year to develop and put on weight. Devonta Lee would likely need a year if he moves to LB regardless. With the current uncertainty with some of the current ILBs and losing out on Peterson and Walker last year it just makes it a little more worrisome than it needs to be. Getting Dean specifically alleviates a little of that worry. With that being said if Cowan and Benton get it together, I really wouldn't have any concerns at all.

Harris going to be a monster.

I agree. He's a freaky athlete. If he had a set position he'd probably be ranked higher. If we are cooling on him it has to be because he's playing games and telling multiple staffs what they want to hear. There's no time to be dealing with kids who want to pull that shite with the early signing period in effect.

Hank (BOL) has CBd 4* WR John Metchie to Bama. Per Watts and Hank, he's already OVd PSU, Bama also definitely wants him and "hit it out of the Park" on his OV this weekend. They're hearing Bama has the momentum now and think he might even commit sooner rather than later.

Devonta Lee is on campus for an unofficial visit.
Vonta Bentley is also arriving for an unofficial visit in a few hours.

I figured if he was a take he was coming on board. Gattis and Locksley heads up Maryland is hard to beat.
If Cross comes on board that would be 4 of the top 6 out of Maryland.

Rodney Orr said the same. Said to "keep an eye" on Metchie.

I think Metchie may be undervalued being a product/transfer from Canada.

Hearing UA's Dean of Engineering "Coach" Karr "hit it out of the park" with Dean and his family.
