I did some work on the Top Targets list position labels, as some players could potentially play more than one position. See copy in next post.

I emailed it to TideSaint to update the 2nd post itt, but it may be a while before he gets to it. Btw, he's 14 hours ahead of us and we can't text each other while he's there.

Thanks for this comprehensive update TS. I may take some time over the weekend to dive into some of these players profiles. Its always fun to get to know the top recruits. Even the ones we miss on make the game for fun bc its fun to see us play against them on other teams, and adds to the viewership.

We should get breaking commitment news before anyone else, then.

Ask him who won the first NBA conference finals games. I'll bet accordingly.

I know we try to get tall DBs, but the height here of the top targets is quite remarkable.

Indeed.

Sidenote: We really try to be accurate on that list, but it's not so easy. Info varies among sites and many are still growing (we round up 1/2-inches).

Yeah, he's real good. Nick Cross and Daxton Hill are both great prospects, and I think our chances are pretty good with them. If you haven't already, you should checkout Hill's film. Athletic and fast, ballhawk, lays the wood, instinctive -- reads and reacts quickly and then closes in real fast.

ETA: All of the DBs on our Top Targets list are excellent. Noa Pola-Gates and Isaiah Rutherford both have great upside and versatility potential. They seem somewhat under the radar and pretty underrated, imo. Rutherford is a teammate of Laiatu Latu, who is 2018 signee Cameron Latu's cousin. Cross' teammate, 4* WR/S Demarcco Hellams, is also an excellent safety prospect.

Alabama’s defense is at its best with an enforcer in the the secondary. Mark Barron, Landon Collins, Ronnie Harrison, etc. Cross reminds men of those guys. But maybe with more speed.

LINK ]Father of nation's No. 1 RB talks Alabama's chances (BamaOnLine-VIP)

5-star RB Trey Sanders 6-0/216 (IMG/FL) hudl

“Bama has a really good shot at landing Trey... a great business decision for a kid going to school who’s trying to go off to the next level. They consistently put guys in the league. You can see the difference in their kids versus other schools... He’s just enjoying this process right now...”

I wish I could post the entire article. It's all good. Based on everything his dad said, Trey's brother going to Florida will not be as much of a factor as many have assumed and depicted. Trey and his dad both want to visit UA again very soon.

LINK ]Alabama QB commit Taulia Tagovailoa gets prestigious Elite 11 invite (SEC Country)

Taulia Tagovailoa committed to UA last month.
quote:

Taulia Tagovailoa, one of Alabama’s quarterback commitments in the 2019 class, will try to follow in his brother’s footsteps when he travels to Los Angeles in June for the Elite 11 competition.

Tagovailoa, a 4-star prospect from Thompson High School (Alabaster, Ala.), received his invite to the prestigious high school quarterback competition on Friday afternoon after two excellent performances at the Atlanta and Nashville Nike Opening regional camps.

There will be lots of eyes watching Tagovailoa in Los Angeles from June 1-3 because his brother, Tua, won the Elite 11 MVP two years ago after what some counselors at the time called the best performance they have seen.

Because of his last name, Taulia knows the comparisons between him and Tua are going to be constant, but it doesn’t bother him. He relishes in that.

“That’s kind of natural,” Taulia said in a recent interview with SEC Country. “I don’t really compete with anyone else other than Tua when it comes to football and school. Even when we are at home just playing games, I want to win. God blessed me with an amazing brother who I can compete with every day in every aspect of life.”

At Thompson High School this past season, Taulia, in his first season playing football on the mainland after moving from Hawaii, threw for 3,823 yards, which passed former Tide QB John Parker Willson for third all-time in the state in one season, and totaled 35 touchdowns.

Taulia was named the Alabama Sports Writer Association’s Class 7A Back of the Year, and he finished third in the state’s voting for Mr. Football, which is given to the best player.

The accolades didn’t stop there for him. Taulia led Thompson to its first win in school history over Hoover High School, a perennial powerhouse. Thompson won its first region championship since 2007 and advanced past the first round of the playoffs since 1987.

Tagovailoa committed to UA last month.

LINK ]Will Reichard perseveres past father’s death to become nation’s No. 1 kicker (SEC Country)

No. 1 kicker Will Reichard lost his father in 2016.
quote:

Will Reichard and his extended family went to Chuy’s two months ago to celebrate his father’s life. Chuy’s was one of Gary’s favorite restaurants, and he would have ordered the fish tacos and made sure the chips were flowing to the table because he loved the queso. Will made sure the queso was at the table when he and his family went. He loves Chuy’s queso as much as his father did.

Gary died of pancreatic cancer on March 28, 2016. He was 53 years old. Will was a freshman at Hoover (Ala.) High School when he lost his father.

“It was very difficult for me,” Will told SEC Country. “I wouldn’t wish that on anybody. It came as a surprise and it came quickly. He got diagnosed in February and died in March. It wasn’t like we had a while to think about what we were going to do. It happened so quickly.”

Will saw his father in the hospital the night before he died. He woke up the next morning thinking he was going to see his father alive again. His mother, Dana, broke the news to her son shortly after he woke up.

The nation’s No. 1 kicker in the 2019 class had a normal conversation with his father the night before. He didn’t recall the specifics, but they were just hanging out with each other like they always did. Because he didn’t know the worst was coming the following day, he never got the closure he wanted.

“That was the worst part,” Will said. “I didn’t get to say what I wanted to say to him.”

Gary meant everything to Will and Will meant everything to Gary. Gary was a family man. He cared deeply about his wife, Dana, and Will’s sister, Taylor. Will said whenever his father wasn’t working for AT&T as a senior technical director, he was spending time with him, his mother and sister.

Gary would take Will to all of his kicking camps and would coach him up when the two had the field to themselves. He wasn’t only a father to Will. He was his best friend. “We spent all of our time together,” Will said. “He would always give me the best advice. He was my best coach.”

A new life coach comes along . . .
