Vonta Bentley got 3 new CBs for Clemson today. The latest is from Hank South (BOL) after Hank met with him today.

Roydell Williams - Hank South also met with the "impressive looking" 2020 Hueytown RB today. Bama still leads, but AU is a close #2. He grew up a Tide fan and will camp at UA this summer.

He costs Stanford at least two games a season with conservative bull shite game management. TERRIBLE in game decision maker.

But yet they have him at every draft as if he is some expert. Pissed me off when 49ers took Solomon Thomas.

Man I wanted the 9ers to take Allen instead of Thomas, hell I would have been happy with Burnett or even Adams since they knew they weren't going to resign Reid. That draft is close to being a bust.

LINK ]No self promotion, just results for touted WR Milton Wright (247Sports)

quote:

Louisville (Ky.) Christian Academy receiver Milton Wright is a blue-chip recruit without much social media fanfare. That’s because the speedster who shined as a Swiss Army knife on the gridiron as a junior brings no attention to himself unless he’s got the football in his hands or he’s coming out the blocks on the track.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Wright certainly isn’t tooting his own horn on Twitter. In fact he doesn’t even have a handle where so many of America’s top prospects are keeping us up to date with every offer and visit. “Just not being part of the hype,” Wright said. “I feel if you show you can do it on the field, there is no reason to have a Twitter and promote yourself. You promote yourself on the field.”

Last fall, Wright certainly did that. In helping lead Christian Academy to a state championship, Wright played receiver, Wildcat quarterback and safety. He caught 34 passes for 685 yards and nine touchdowns. Wright also rushed for 346 more yards and seven scores. On defense he racked up 40 tackles and four interceptions. He’s a threat to score in the return game as well, with two career kickoff returns for touchdowns and one punt ran back.

“Anytime the ball is in his hands he has the chance to take it to the house,”
Coach Stefan LeFors said. A former quarterback at Louisville, LeFors was a fourth-round selection by the Carolina Panthers in the 2005 NFL Draft after an outstanding career playing for the Cardinals where he was a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Point is, LeFors knows what it’s supposed to look like and Wright has the traits. “The moves he puts on guys, his leaping ability, going up and over guys and making catches, and of course he can be a big-hitter from the safety position,” LeFors continued. “He’s kind of got it all.”

Including the intangibles.

“He’s obviously a very explosive playmaker,”
LeFors said. “But what makes him so much fun to coach is he’s coachable, he listens, he wants to learn. He’s like a sponge and he wants to soak it all in. His athletic ability coupled with his mindset to want to improve every day makes him fun to coach. He’s a tremendous worker.”

That has also translated to the track where Wright is a contender to win state in the 100m and 200m dash, having gone 10.82 and 21.89 respectively. Last year in long jump he went 22-4 and in high jump, he hit 6-2. Fast and explosive with a lot of upside.

Wright said five programs are recruiting him harder than the others. “Ohio State, Alabama, Louisville, Kentucky and Purdue.” He camped at Ohio State and he’s been to local Louisville and run in a track meet at Purdue.

Wright was offered by Nick Saban in March and wants to check out Tuscaloosa. He’s been building a rapport with Dan Enos. “Just their winning program,” Wright said of what stands out. “I think Nick Saban is a great, great coach.”

Wright commented on the other four schools before quickly heading back to class, keeping that low profile.

“Ohio State, I like the way Coach (Urban) Meyer handles himself and his program. Purdue, I just like their fanbase and how it’s a nice community and they have great academics. Louisville, it’s a hometown school and I think they’re awesome. Kentucky also, they’re a close-knit city I like to be around and my family is around there too.”

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranks Wright as the nation’s No. 14 athlete and No. 146 prospect overall. We are much higher on him at 247Sports slotting him at No. 3 and No. 52 respectively in the Top247 Player Rankings.

Wright does not have a timetable for a college decision.

Could Wright be our big speedy WR?

Kinda hoping Bama plays Stanford in the semifinals this year. Would be a hell of a bloodbath.

So it looks like Sospher and Lee are planning to announce in February with the caveat they could obviously change thier minds on when to announce and/or already be silent commits.

My question is, is Lee at the top of the receiver board? Assuming he is not a silent at any point, would it be possible for him to get squeezed out if Washington and/or Williams wanted to come aboard? Or would we be happy to just wait it out and if it doesn't work out go big with Worsham and crew next year?

The top BOL insiders, including the one in LA, have said Devonta Lee and Sopsher have been silent commits since Feb. I think both are trying to avoid harrassment from the crazy segment of LSU fans. That problem is real. I think Lee is too good and versatile (WR/HB/S) to get squeezed out. Bama can afford to be very selective with WR & TE in the 2019 cycle:

Wide Receiver (10)
SR: Derek Kief*, Xavian Marks
JR: None
SO: Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III
FR: Tyrell Shavers*, Chadarius Townsend*, Jaylen Waddle, Xavier Williams, Slade Bolden

Tight End (6)
SR: Hale Hentges
JR: Irv Smith Jr.
SO: Miller Forristall*, Major Tennison, Kedrick James
FR: Michael Parker

As I've mentioned before, it wouldn't surprise me if Bama opts to really load up on DLs & LBs and do more at WR & TE in the next cycle. Shavers, Townsend and James had really good springs. Consider too that Turnage excels at S and WR. The plan for Turnage is S, but also as insurance in case of WR injuries or attrition.

I think Bama wants to land a really talented tall WR. Marcus Washington and Jameson Williams are good looking 6'2" WRs, but check out the new post just above on 6'3" Milton Wright. He appears to be emerging as a top WR target for Bama. He's grown a lot and might even grow some more.

He looks good! Plays QB, WR, and looks great at safety. My only thing is I don’t know much about Kentucky football but everybody looks small, besides Milton. But I like him him and Marcus Washington out of Missouri. But really like Jameson Williams the best his speed is nuts. And I think they will only take one Wr. This year with Devonta Lee a HB.

LINK ]Why 5-star LB Nakobe Dean could see himself at Bama (BamaOnLine-VIP)

>>> 5* ILB Nakobe Dean 6-1/215 (MS) hudl

Dean is very intelligent and he truly understands the value of everything that Alabama uniquely offers him, including the hard work. He sounds totally sold on everything about Bama.

Saban called Dean from the NFL draft and told him he'd take him in 2018 if he could. Dean really likes Kuligowski (area recruiter) and has become very close with Golding (ILBs coach). It appears to me that Dean is Bama's #1 priority LB target.

I am very confident Dean is rolling with the Tide.

LINK ]How firm is Turnage with Tide? (BOL-VIP)

4* S/WR Brandon Turnage 6-1/185 (MS) hudl

Turnage is not waivering at all. Instead, his commitment continues to grow stronger. He loves everything about Bama. He's definitely a priority and is still being heavily recruited by Kugliowski (area recruiter) and Scott (position coach) as well as Lupoi & Saban. He has a very close relationship with Scott and is becoming very good friends with his fellow Tide commits. He and his mom hope to be back on campus in the next few weeks.

I think Turnage signs with Bama in December.

I recall you posting that a week or two ago. In my post, I copied and pasted info from the post-NSD 2018 85-man roster breakdown published by BamaOnLine. With four more new DBs soon to arrive, I think we just have to wait and see where Slade ends up coming out of fall camp.

On film, Milton Wright looks very fast and he got a lot of yardage after contact too. According to that article he's a track sprinter and jumper and legit contender to win the state 100m & 200m.

Yep, he did look much bigger than some kids they played against, especially the DBs. But big plays are more likely to occur vs overmatched opponents and then end up on highlight films.

Remember Ardarius Stewart who also played some QB in HS, and occasionally threw a pass for Bama? I remember. I'm not saying Wright is as good as Stewart, but he does remind me of him -- both very athletic. Plus, Wright is taller.

I think Lee can probably play WR and HB both well. He could motion & shift pre-snap to/from the HB spot -- a very nice weapon to have, and a 2-for-1 value as both a WR and a HB/flex-TE.
