Williams, Davis, Wilson, Lewis and Jennings all will probably jump to the NFL after next year.

As strange as it may seem for someone projected to go in the top half of the first round, don't be surprised if Jonah comes back in 2019. In fact, it would be a bit of surprise if he didn't. He's a bit different from your average guy. And his family is pretty well off. In this case, he's actually said that he intends to come back. I'm sure a lot of guys say that and change their mind, but I'd say chances are good he'll come back.

If that's the case then surely he will make the move back to right tackle, or get a look at center.

Leather was noticeably better at LT. Jonah was noticeably better at right tackle.

It's difficult to doubt the staff, but damn this seems obvious from the outside looking in.

Jonah Williams enrolled early, in January 2016. So he could be on track to have his degree by May 2019. If he projects in the first round, especially if top half, I think there's a pretty good chance he'll change his mind and enter the 2019 draft. It'd be hard to justify risking the loss of $MMs that could result from a potential major knee injury.

Great list!! Only change would be J. Ealy for Sanders. But I’d be happy either way.??

I'd be happy either way too. Right now, Jerrion Ealy appears more likely than Trey Sanders to roll with the Tide. I just have a gut feeling Sanders will eventually end up back in our class.

I think we'll take 2 RB's in this class. I think we flip Ealy and then we'll turn up the heat on Eric Gray and land him.

The state of Mississippi stacked this year like Bama

Very similar backs I like em both. I just would want a bigger back if we take two like Sanders or the back committed to LSU. Crouch of course but I don’t think we will get him

Yep. Especially DEs -- Nathan Pickering, Byron Young, Jaren Handy, Charles Moore

I think Bama wants to take 2 RBs, IF they can land 2 they really like a lot. I think maybe they'd be content with 1 RB if they can land everyone else on that list. But if they miss on a high priority DL or OLB such as Pickering or Thibodeaux, I think a 2nd RB would become the top priority. But, I could be dead wrong about Bama taking 7 DLs and/or 7 LBs over 2 RBs.

ETA: Pretty reliable BOL insider says...
quote:

Plan as of now
5 DL
6 OLB/ILB
3 DB
2 WR
1-2 RB
5 OL
2 QB
1-2 TE
1 specialist

That's consistent with what Hank South (BOL) says. But, given the more pressing needs for DL & LB in this cycle and very good shape we're in with great DL & LB prospects compared to RB, WR & TE, I think Bama might opt to load up at DL & LB and then go after more WR, TE & RB in the 2020 cycle. Also noteworthy, Brandon Turnage is a pretty good WR (as well as DB) prospect and Devonta Lee projects well at both WR & HB. We'll see how it all shakes out come Dec and Feb.

Wasn't Williams projected to be a top 10 pick in a mock draft for next year?

What do you (and anyone else) think of the guy on BOL claiming Cheney won't be in this class?

I've only been a BOL subscriber since early Feb. From what I can tell, he's pretty good with inside info. But that seems to be his own take based on Bama being in such good shape right now with DLs higher on Bama's board than Cheney.

Idk if he actually knows the details of Bama's recruiting board. From what I've seen, Bama isn't keen on taking commitments and then recruiting over them. It happens sometimes, but I think they really try to avoid it, due to the repercussions.

ETA: Another highly regarded BOL insider chimed in on Cheney, saying he's in if he holds up his end of the deal. But if he starts shopping around and taking visits elsewhere, he'll risk losing his spot.

They have camps for college football players from May 1st to July 15th. Maybe that?

Leatherwood will have to get his confidence back. Terrell Lewis stole it along with his dignity and pride all Spring. He abused him like a rented mule. Illegal in several states.
