Aren't we going to sign 28 or 29 next cycle?

We have 3 unused spots from the 2018 class. We signed 20, including Jarez Parks, plus 2 blueshrirts (Brannon & Bullovas) count in the 2018 class = 22 spots filled; 25 - 22 = 3 unused. So, we can sign 28 for 2019, by backcounting 3 2019 EEs into the 3 unused 2018 spots.

Interesting tidbit on top RB targets

Recruiting

Had a chance to catch your breath after National Signing day? Great, because it’s never too early to take a look at #Tribe19.

Considering the obstacles that Willie Taggart and his staff had to overcome, #Tribe18 manifested itself into as strong of a recruiting class as anyone could have hoped for. Next year’s recruiting class is already shaping up to be special, and we’re still 359 days away.

FSU is looking to land four linebackers in 2019. One of those is Horn Lake, Mississippi native Nakobe Dean, the top-rated inside linebacker in the country. He tweeted out Sunday that he was officially offered by the Seminoles.

Dean is a freak athlete with a specialty in putting players on their backs, as is Shammond Cooper, a rangy prospect with a lot of room to grow.

The Seminoles’ running back targets are located all over the country, and their talents and specialties are equally as diverse. Trey Sanders could possibly be the best running back in the country, and FSU appears to be a prime prime contender to land the IMG Academy prospect.

Whereas Sanders is smaller and more muscular, Charlotte native Quavaris Crouch is listed a 6’2, and he still hasn’t committed to any school.

4-star safety Dax Hill was also offered a scholarship by Florida State this week. The Tulsa (Okla.) native also holds offers from Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama.

We’re still extremely early in the game, but #Tribe19 could be one of the best in the Nation, as head coaches often stumble upon success in their second “go around” on the recruiting trail. History shows that coaches entering their second year average a 9.6-spot jump in rankings for their second recruiting class.

Football

Not much has been said about Willie Taggart’s difficult decision to leave Oregon and become FSU’s head football coach, until now.

Need to Know: Taggart only preferred two snacks in the war room on signing day.

Taggart has already made history, and he’s been the man in Tallahassee for just two months.

There’s only one #Tribe18 member that has stepped up to compete with the loaded FSU running back corps.

No one should forget the absolute bombshell flip that Taggart was able to land on signing day.

Isaiah Rutherford (DB from California) is very highly coveted by Tosh. I expect him in our class. Watch his stock soar from low 4*.

The number was suppose to be 23 in 18, then word got out that it might be 24 late in the process.

Don't know if it was true or not and it didn't matter in the end because Bama only signed 20.

Saban will always find a way to sign more if he needs to.

I fully expect Bama to sign 28-30. We can back-count somewhere between 3-5. I think this class being so large is one reason we have a chance to edge UGA for the #1 class, even if they have a 5-star or two more than we do.

If 23 was the true max we could've signed for 2018 (i.e., if Saban didn't mislead us), then 28 is our max for 2019, as I previously explained:

Do graduate transfers count against the 25?

I'm pretty sure they do not, but their scholarships would count against the 85 limit. We're at 85 now. So, we'll need further attrition in order to issue any more scholarships. See this thread: Breaking down Alabama’s 85-man roster after Signing Day

28 true signees, plus any gray shirts or blue shirts toward the next class that we may want to grab. Parker was to be one this year, were it not for so many misses on NSD. IOW, Saban's pattern is to grab 1-2 gray or blue shirts most cycles...which could easily put our total at 29 or 30 for the 2019 class. Like I said, I expect 28-30. Either way, it's a large class which is awesome with such a loaded cycle.

I can't remember a year when we didn't have 2-3 guys transfer in the summer. I fully expect a few guys like Kief, Clark, Casher, Marks, etc to transfer out. Heck, Jalen may. This will open up spots for our new grad-transfer kicker from Temple, QB from ECU and hopefully a grad-transfer DL or two.

Yep. But any more than 28 would have to be greyshirts or blueshirts, which would have to be counted against our 25 cap for 2020.

I get that. I'm just saying that's never stopped Saban from doing it, and I don't expect any different in a loaded 2019 cycle. 28 signees + 2 gray/blue-shirts = 30 for the 2019 class. All I'm saying is that it's a real possibility. 28, 29, 30...doesn't really matter...it's a big class. Which is fantastic.

True, but if we end up with an open spot and he wins the PK job(which I expect him to do), no reason not to reward the kid.
