Good assessment. Guys like Wynn, Baremore, Sopsher, Tuitele, Alfano, Cheney appear to be pretty versatile -- could play both the NT and weakside DT/DE spots.
Pickering, Young and Handy are the taller leaner SDE type. Alfano and Wynn could possibly play that spot too. Cheney grew an inch or so (6-3ish) in the last year and may continue to grow taller by 2019 fall camp, so he may have SDE potential too. Also, the staff may plan to bulk Jordan Davis up to SDE size.
Musika, Ika and Dale may be limited to double-blocker/space-eater NT roles unless/until they shed some bad weight. But there's not as much need for that role nowadays and it's hard to sub defenders in/out against HUNH offenses. Imo, Bama would only take one of Ika and Dale.
Bottom line: It's pretty early in 2019 cycle and Bama is already in good shape to load up on some great DL talent. It also looks like 2020 DT big Jayson Jones will announce for the Tide on July 4th. RTR!

Pretty much in my opinion. Tua may have an inch or so and throws opposite but to me they have similar styles, arm strength, and accuracy. Supposedly Tua may have a stronger arm but not sure about that.

Alabama four-star safety commitment is on campus at FSU (Noles247)
quote:
Lakeland (Fla.) Kathleen four-star safety Brendan Gant, who is an Alabama commitment, is currently on campus at Florida State for a Sunday visit.
The 6-foot-2, 187-pound defensive back is a long-time target of the Seminoles and has a pre-existing relationship with head coach Willie Taggart.
Sunday marks Gant's first visit to FSU since Taggart got the job. It will also provide him an opportunity to meet defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett, as well as other members of the staff.
Gant visited Alabama on Saturday for A-Day and was at Florida last Saturday for the Orange and Blue Game.
He is considered the No. 131 overall prospect and No. 6 safety in the 2019 class by the 247Sports.com Composite.

Update from today's Under Armour All America camp in Atlanta -- 2020 4-star OT Paul Tchio (Alpharetta, GA) named Alabama his leader, after visiting UGA Saturday. He really likes Brent Key.

King Mwikuta and Christian Williams got invited to play in the Under Armour game after good showings at the Under Armour camp in Atlanta this weekend. Rashad Cheney has already committed to play in the game.

Two guys on commitment watch. DJ Dale is one (no surprise, other than some uncertainty whether he has a committable offer or not). The other is a surprise. OT Tanner Bowles from Kentucky is one to keep a very close eye on (per Rodney Orr). I'm not sure how many OL we plan to take.
Also, sounds like 4/5* safety Daxton Hill from Tulsa is having a blowout visit.

The question on Bowles will be whether we have room or not. Pretty sure he's ready to commit.
We feel very good about Wright, Kight, Webb, and Bell still. Nothing has changed, except things look even better for Wright.

Doesn't Bell have grade issues?

Think so. But I'm sure we'll know more about that by Fall.

It's sounding like we could have a few 2019 and 1-2 2020 commitments announced this week. Hopefully, we'll get 1 or 2 today. Amari Kight seems to be a likely candidate for that.

No, what it's sounding like is our insiders are no more plugged in than everyone else's insiders which we always make fun of. I learned a long time ago not to get my hopes up on what these people say. Most of the time when they are right the shite is so obvious it can be guessed by most people with half a brain anyway.

Top100 DB Jaylen McCollough talks A-Day (BamaOnLine-VIP)
4-star S Jaylen McCollough 6-1/190 (GA) hudl
Bama really likes McCollough a lot and vice versa. But it looks like he'll camp at Bama this summer before any decision is finalized.

Nation's No. 1 DT talks return Bama, plans to narrow list (BamaOnLine-VIP)
5-star DT Ishmael Sopsher 6-5/280 (LA) hudl
Sopsher had a very good visit, but he is keeping his cards close to his vest. He said he'll release his top-5 on July 30. “My key factors are going to be academics, coaching, and life after football.”
