43. So glad I'm not the oldest one here. I thought I was too old for this. Lol

Don't understand why he would want to come here to ride the bench if he wants to play... But if he just want to experience Alabama and possibly win a ring, then welcome.

He may have decided that his football future is in coaching, and playing for Saban would be a great way to get his foot in the door.

That's actually a really good point.

I looked on rivals for new articles and didn't see any. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot. We need some recruiting news to get us fired up

Alabama pursuing East Carolina grad transfer QB (al.com)
quote:
Nick Saban hinted on Wednesday that Alabama will "probably" add another quarterback before the start of the season. That may now be close to happening.
The Crimson Tide is pursuing East Carolina graduate transfer quarterback Gardner Minshew, according to sources.
Minshew is expected to visit Alabama at some point soon, per sources.
The Brandon, Mississippi native was set to enter the spring as East Carolina's No. 1 quarterback but left the program in late January.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Minshew played in 10 games as a junior last season, started five and threw for 2,140 yards and 16 touchdowns with seven interceptions.
Minshew threw for 1,486 yards and 10 touchdowns over the team's final four games. During that stretch, he had two games with more than 440 yards and another with 351 yards.
Minshew led Northwest Mississippi Community College to a national championship in 2015.
Alabama didn't sign a quarterback in this year's recruiting class, so there are only three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster -- Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones.

Alabama reportedly pursuing ECU QB as graduate transfer (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Head coach Nick Saban said Alabama will “probably have a quarterback join us in some kind of way” after the Crimson Tide did not sign a signal caller on National Signing Day 2018.
Saban pointed toward “a more experienced guy,” meaning a graduate transfer, and according to a report from AL.com, the Tide is pursuing a player from the American Athletic Conference.
East Carolina senior quarterback Gardner Minshew is reportedly the target and is expected to visit Alabama soon.
A player that would be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer, Mishew withdrew from ECU to “devote his full attention to a family matter in his home state of Mississippi,” Pirates head coach Scottie Montgomery announced last month per Stephen Igoe.
Minshew was named ECU’s starter entering spring drills. The Brandon, Miss. native started five of 10 games during the 2017 season, leading East Carolina in completions (174), attempts (304), passing yards (2,140) and passing touchdowns (16) as a junior. He established ECU and AAC single-game records with a 52-of-68, 463-yard performance at Houston on Nov. 4.
After leading Northwest Mississippi Community College to the 2015 NJCAA national title, he transferred to ECU and played in seven games during the 2016 campaign as a sophomore.
Should he indeed transfer to UA, Minshew would give Alabama four scholarship quarterbacks -- something Saban has repeatedly said he desires. The Tide returns soon-to-be junior Jalen Hurts, sophomore Tua Tagovailoa and redshirt freshman Mac Jones.

quote:Maybe Minshew has confidence he could beat out Hurts and Jones for the 2018 season backup QB job. Either way, he'd still get his UA graduate degree, not far from his family in MS. Maybe he's also considering a coaching career after college.

I'm glad we seem to be getting a quality QB. I'm a little more interested in a Dlineman

I don't have proof, but I believe the same thing happened with him that happened with Malik Langham.
- We slow played.
- Teams negative recruited against that fact and said we didnt see them as top options
- They picked the school that "showed them love" and didn't see them as an option.

The staff was expecting to land several more players on NSD.
Brown, Ross, Copeland, Beal and Sewell.
That is why the greyshirt offer went to Langham and ITS didn't have a spot.
By the end of the day, Bama would have taken Langham and ITS, but they didn't want to be backup options.
