Loser: Mississippi State Bulldogs
Mississippi State could land a pair of 4-star defensive tackles in Nathan Pickering and Byron Young. Neither is a sure thing, though.
And that sums up the program's signing-day outlook.
Charles Moore backed off his pledge to the Bulldogs in early January. While the staff has continued to recruit the 4-star defensive end, visits to Florida, Florida State and LSU?along with his December trip to Auburn?seem likely to steer him elsewhere.
Mississippi State is also in danger of losing two 3-stars to Florida schools. Offensive tackle Darius Washington has visited Florida State and Miami (twice because of the coaching change from Mark Richt to Manny Diaz), while Miami is the primary threat for cornerback Martin Emerson Jr.
For good measure, 5-star running back Jerrion Ealy is eyeing Clemson. Even if the valued baseball prospect chases the diamond, he might not sign with Mississippi State.
They get Pickering and we get Young.
Who knows what Ealy is going to do?

Winner: Florida Gators
In addition to battling Auburn for Moore and Richards, Florida remains a high choice for a couple of 4-star prospects.
The son and nephew of former Gators safeties Abram and Matt Elam, Kaiir Elam is considered the No. 48 player in this class. Florida is the favorite but needs to outlast Georgia, which was a key contender anyway and hired now-former UF defensive backs coach Charlton Warren.
Khris Bogle, a 4-star defensive end, is the primary flip target. He's committed to Alabama and considering Miami but also visited Florida in late January.
Additionally, the Gators are poised to officially add unsigned 4-star receiver Arjei Henderson and 4-star linebacker Diwun Black. Throw in two of the uncommitted players, and that's a great finish for UF.
No.

Loser: Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee is poised to complete a stellar 5-star tandem of offensive tackles. After adding Wanya Morris during the early period, the Vols are considered the front-runner to land Darnell Wright.
Unquestionably, that would be great news. Will that be the only positive development for the Vols, though?
Henry To'oto'o, a 4-star linebacker, is linked to Alabama, while Pickens won't be a realistic target if he doesn't visit. Cox is trending toward Auburn, and 4-star commit Anthony Harris isn't a lock. Jammie Robinson, a 3-star cornerback, has visited but might choose a different SEC school.
If a February visit from 3-star linebacker Christopher Russell doesn't vault Tennessee past Arkansas and Texas A&M, the Vols may smack a home run. If not, they may only strike out.
They can land their 2nd 5-star OT in this class and they would be losers?

Winner: LSU Tigers
LSU already owns the country's eighth-best haul, and there's a decent chance the Tigers will rise on signing day.
Their highest-rated target is 4-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher, who is also considering Alabama. He's one of several D-linemen on the board. According to Shea Dixon of 247Sports, the staff used Wednesday for in-home visits with 4-stars Pickering, Young and Moore.
Also on the board are several other 4-stars: cornerback Christian Williams, athlete Devonta Lee, and cornerback Maurice Hampton. While Hampton could be selected in the 2019 MLB draft, receiving the current commit's signature would be Step 1 of a two-part process for LSU.
Recruiting can change quickly, but it seems Ed Orgeron and his staff are heading toward a hot finish with three or more intruiging players.
There's a chance Williams ends up in Miami.

Loser: Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama should hold on to the No. 1 class of the 2019 recruiting cycle, making Nick Saban an overall winner. Signing day, however, might not be as friendly to the program.
The Crimson Tide are working on 5-star offensive tackle Darnell Wright and top-50 prospects in Sopsher and linebacker To'oto'o. It's possible they're limited to the last, though.
Four committed 4-stars in Bogle, Young, Williams and running back Keilan Robinson are exploring other options. Losing any of them would be disappointing. Plus, Ealy and Mississippi State pledge Pickering are 4-stars but will be tough pulls.
That's not even the comprehensive list of players on Alabama's radar. With 15 early enrollees and nine confirmed signees, the Tide already have 24 players in the class, excluding the verbal commits.
Alabama's shortage of space will push a few valued targets elsewhere and create a whole bunch of NSD movement.

I'd be overjoyed to finish the class with Young, Robinson, Toto, and Bogle.
Don't care about Sopsher at all. He's got bust written all over him.

I wouldn't go that far.
I want to land him because I think he could have a similar career projectory as Daron Payne.
Payne came in overweight with questions about his work ethic, granted they weren't as loud as Sopsher's. He turned out alright once Cochran got a hold of him.

Big 12 Spotlight: Top targets as Late Signing Period approaches

National Signing Day is less than a week away, and while some teams have already finished their 2019 recruiting class, others still have some very important targets out there. Take a look at each Big 12 program's top remaining targets.

TCU - Brett Seither
January has been awfully kind to TCU, as the Horned Frogs nabbed a trio of commitments in the aftermath of official visit weekends. As signing day approaches, the attention is on adding coveted tight end Brett Seither, who has been a TCU lean before garnering a high degree of interest from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama late in the cycle. TCU is also working feverishly to keep its crowned jewel of the 2019 class in place. That, of course, is four-star tailback Darwin Barlow, who committed in the summer but did not sign in December.

WTF?
So 24 of our top targets are already signed and we are a Loser?

I thought we let that Wright ship sail a long time ago!! Sopsher and To'oto'o are still better than a 50/50 shot with HT being on the more likely side.

Bogle- could flip if his mom lets the "turnover chain" warp his mind. She seems to know what is up though with Coach Saban and sees it as his best route to playing on Sundays.
Young- signs with BAMA. No inside info, just think he sticks.
Williams- we've known for a month or more that he was likely NOT going to be in this class.
Robinson- if he didn't flip to Maryland and Locksley, then I think he is solid. The trip to LA is a freebie and everyone knows that Helton is treading water right now.
Ealy- you have to take a shot at a 5* back even though he likely takes the 1st round MLB money in the Spring.
Pickering- we already know he shutdown his recruitment and cancelled his OV. Keep Young and take Sopsher, no big loss.
Now we could finish with a thud IF NONE of these guys sign next week and all of our commits go elsewhere. I just don't see it!!!

BOL Nuggets summarized:
Henry To'oto'o - Washington is the main threat. His family is all on board with him moving to Tuscaloosa.
Ishmael Sopsher - He had a great OV last weekend with his LSU OV this weekend. Sources feel this could go either way.
Byron Young - He will be in Baton Rouge this weekend, but he has shown no signs of backing off his commitment to Alabama.
Keilan Robinson - He's saying all the right things and Charles Huff has visited him in D.C. each of the last two weekends. He's in Los Angeles right now so they will be monitoring the situation.
Khris Bogle - No one knows what he is going to do, but Alabama is going to be tough to overcome. He is taking a 2nd OV to Miami this weekend.
Brett Seither - Sources say it's a dead heat between Alabama and Georgia with his visit to Penn State on tap for this weekend. He announces at 11:30 on NSD2.
Javonne Shepherd - Still committed to Texas, but he had a good OV last weekend. Jeff Banks is making this interesting.
Jerrion Ealy - Alabama, and Charles Huff, are going to roll out the red carpet this weekend on his OV. Clemson is likely his leader, but baseball will play a huge role in his ultimate decision.
Jaquaze Sorrells - They copied and pasted Ealy's blurb in his spot.
Quashon Fuller - If Alabama pushes things could get interesting. It looks like he is a backup plan for Young, Sopsher and potentially Sorrells.
Nathan Pickering - Cancelled his OV. Likely signing with MSU.
Daniel Heimuli - It appears he has also cancelled his OV for this weekend.
Christian Williams - Likely LSU bound.

Jared Harrison-Hunte is committing today at 4:00 pm. Last I was keeping up he was trending Miami.

Payne wasn't nearly as sloppy as Sopsher is. Payne was 325 but was a rock, already a weight room freak when he entered. Sopsher is 345 and a bunch of jiggle. Not to mention he thinks he is an edge. The only positive of this guy right now is that it would piss off the LSU fans. He's a bit of a project.

Hank CBd Christian Williams to LSU. Garcia and Tom Loy (ND) followed suit. Loy also CBd Daniel Heimuli to UW. They gone.
Eta: Wiltfong and an LSU mod have also CBd Williams to LSU.

What is the deal on the Williams kid from Daphne? His coach is former Bama player Kenny King. I don't understand why he didn't decommit months back. I assume it is just part of the game so LSU can say they took something from Alabama?
Posted on 2/1/19 at 9:57 am to JoseyWalesTheOutlaw
Christian Williams committed back in April. Later, I think he had to wait and see if Bama missed on enough DB targets higher on their board to get a signing spot. But Bama filled all of their DB spots in the early signing period. So it appears Bama let him stay publically committed while he picks his school, like with Rashad Cheney. He's a good player and a good kid, but his 4.64 speed is slow for a pure DB. LSU still needs another DB and Aranda also uses a hybrid DB/LB in his scheme, so LSU seems like a pretty good choice for him.

So, I know that EJ Williams is a 2020 recruit, but he posted his top 12 (no order). Clemson is first. The two pictures show him either looking at or pointing at the Clemson logo. Dude is going to Clemson just like Ross.
