Spikes was selected 13th overall in the 98 Draft
Andre Bruce was who I was referring to...widely panned as one of the biggest busts at #1 pick in NFL history
At the time it was considered a reach but Atlanta needed a LB

That's kind of what prompted my question. You don't really associate Auburn with early round draft picks the way you do us, LSU, Ohio State, FSU, USC, etc. Their NFL player profile is closer to Arkansas' or Wisconsin's than it is any of the aforementioned programs, yet they have no problem attracting a lot of elite talent to come play there. Recruiting is really strange.

It's not really that strange, they play on the "acceptance" angle to the families of minorities paint Tuscaloosa as intolerant.
"We are your kind of people, they aren't... only want to use you for football"
Downvote away. Those are facts though.
It's the foundation of their fambly crap.

Interesting angle. What’s the minority make up of Tuscaloosa vs Auburn?

Bama 'definitely' one of top schools for nation's No. 1 player (BamaOnLine-VIP)
5* DE Kayvon Thibodeaux 6-5/235 (CA) hudl
Thibodeaux visited Titletown Fiday and Saturday. He enjoyed meeting with Saban, talked a lot with Lupoi, and said their relationship grew closer. He sees the opportunity to be an impact player early due to expected graduation and NFL departures. The Iron Bowl is likely to be his final official visit.
"Bama is crazy... they have everything... how much detail they show to the players... The coaches make sure that everyone is doing everything perfect. I see why they’re great. And they get after it every day. I want to be the best and I like to compete with the best."
ETA: Thibodeaux's family is originally from Lake Charles, LA, but he was born in CA. Though the CBs favor USC, he has stated desire to play in the SEC, distance from home "means nothing" and that he considers Bama the best CFB program. Hank South told me he felt Thibodeaux was very genuine with him. He has visited LSU & UF and said he'd like an offer from UGA. But I doubt UGA will offer, because they need to be "all in" on elite instate OLBs Nolan Smith and Owen Pappoe.
Bottom line: I'm really liking Bama's chances of landing Thibodeaux.

If you're asking about this BOL nuggets article that I posted in the spring camp thread --
BOL Nuggets: Alabama passing game takes scrimmage center stage (VIP, w/CNS video)
-- it's all pretty well covered (even Slade Bolden's pick) by the other scrimmage reports posted.

The barn does a great job of selling that Family Deal to recruits.

I wasnt sure what they were talking about, I'm not a member. Usually we have someone that post the breakdown over here, when they have time. They have to put it in their own words so we don't get in trouble

You are one of the most emotionally unbalanced dudes I have ever seen.
Don't really care how you feel, think, etc..

Thibodeaux fits the profile of a player who goes to Bama from out of the southern region. And, with all the Black folks leaving California I'm sure it won't be a hard sell for the kid to come to Alabama.

Kid has some nice film. Could be a monster.
