We are talking about a commitment not a prospect. He’s committed for a reason. This isn’t a video game where you cut the fat.

He's going on visits so he isn't very committed. This isn't the 80s, recruiting is more national. If Saban only recruited Alabama kids, we would suck

Or the staff knows of others on the team who will transfer and that’s why there loading up. Knott being a possible one of them and losing Thompson to nfl , isn’t Diggs a senior next year. Savion a senior. I like the depth though

Smith and Diggs are both Juniors. Buggs is the only significant senior, but Davis and Q will be gone along with Thompson.

You want to move on from anyone that takes visits?

Holy hyperbole.

It's no different than saying Saban needs to take a kid or the school is going to get mad

How well would it work out for a school or coach from the state of Alabama to say they were pissed at Saban or he isn't allowed on campus? They would catch hell. You can't get bullied into taking a kid.

Did I say that? If they are looking around then so should we. If we have a kid willing to sign in the early period, why wait for a less talented kid that might flip? That's just stupid

If they're taking visits then they're a flip risk. Therefore, Bama continues to recruit other options for that spot. Here we are a week away from the early signing period and Williams' dad is still saying that he won't sign early and that he's going to take OVs to other schools. Bama would be crazy to turn away a better player to save a spot for Williams. It ain't gonna happen.

AL.com

If he is going to drag his feet, then more power to him.

Maybe he was encouraged to look around... looks like we are trending with Battle. Or it could be you shop and you lose your spot.

No that’s a hell of a lot different. The kid is already committed, dumbass.

Now that’s a lot different than simply running a kid off for a better prospect, which people seem to be perfectly fine with.

It doesn't matter if Durkin volunteered to clean the toilets in the building, what MATTERS outside of Bama Nation is he's here and has been accepted in some role by CNS. That's all they need. They can take that and spin it into evil Nick Saban and the Empire of Alabama are showing more of their "win at all costs" mentality. That's the way it is spun. I don't like it, don't believe it and I know none of you do either, but we're not the ones that matter in this. And that is some big damn ammo to give negative recruiters like Kirby in the final stretch before ESD.

If he was hired, volunteered, whatever you want to say, to help Locks, then Locks should be the one to claim him, not Alabama and CNS. And seriously, what could he do to help us prepare for either Oklahoma or Clemson or Notre Dame? He didn't even play any of them. This was just an error in judgement no matter how you slice it.

That's debatable. Alfano, Shane Lee, Quick, Tyson, Dale, Mwikuta, Kevin Harris, Bowles, Dalcourt are examples of true commitments. They shut their recruitments down. They have peer recruited for Bama.

It’s still the same to me. Are you saying that if the staff is at its number for DBs this class that they should turn down Battle and hope Williams sticks after his visits?

You can't have a disagreement without calling someone a name?? Sounds like you have issues beyond wanting to blow every high school football player from the state

As much as we hate to admit he’s right, I think it was Farrell that said it’s quite rare for a kid to recommit to a school he decommitted from already.

Is it really that rare though? Xavier McKinney, Shy Carter, Rueben Foster, Brent Calloway are all players that recommitted in recent memory.

Yes it is. But you don't know that Bama is running Williams off or that they ran Rashad Cheney off.

There are in between cases. Sometimes a staff takes a commitment from a player with some contingencies and they're up front with them about it. They might tell them we need to see how you do at our camp and how your senior season goes. They may end up telling him honestly that they think he'll have a tough time becoming a starter on the team very early, if ever -- and it becomes a mutual parting with no love lost on either side.

There are some dumbasses around here for sure, but Cobra isn't one of them. Man takes pride in his jib, and does a great jib around here.

If you're gonna be mean to someone, for the love of football be mean to one of the fifty Georgia fans that post in here, or one of Seans 12 split personalities that all have their own account, but not Cobra... sheesh
