A guy on BOL says he's heard some rumblings that Austin Thomas has had discussions with Saban about joining the staff.

Is this guy some recruiting savant or something. Also what about the Michigan LB coach being hired?

In-depth look at Alabama’s uncommitted targets after 2 days of early signing period (DB portion)
quote:

DB Targets: Tyson Campbell, 5-star corner; Patrick Surtain Jr., 5-star corner; Isaac Taylor-Stuart, 4-star corner; Kelvin Joseph, 4-star safety.

A lot of eyeballs are going to be on this group in the coming weeks.

Tyson Campbell has been Alabama’s top cornerback target for months now. He’s expected to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa in January. This may be an Alabama-UGA-Miami race for him.

Patrick Surtain Jr. has named LSU his leader for more than a year now, but he hasn’t committed or signed. I just think that’s interesting. He’s also expected to visit in January.

With Nadab Joseph flipping to Georgia, I expect the Tide to turn the heat up on Isaac Taylor-Stuart. The Tide led for several months of his recruitment last year. If he makes it back to Tuscaloosa next month, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Tide get back on top.

Kelvin Joseph de-committed from LSU this fall and it looked like Alabama was going to be the beneficiary of that decision. It still looks likely that he’ll end up with the Tigers. He didn’t visit Tuscaloosa once this fall.

Who’s committed/signed: Jalyn Armour-Davis*, Josh Jobe*, Saivion Smith*

Didn't Grant Hill just graduate this month? I thought I saw his name under the list of former players graduating.

I think he just lost interest in playing football. Probably because we were calling him "false start" Hill.

He was the missing piece at RG last year, kid would have been a stud had his problems not occured.

Rick Trickett wasn't retained by FSU nor taken to A&M by Fisher. He goes way back with Saban, to the point Saban hired his son.

I don't want to replace Key, but someone is about to land a good OL Coach if he doesn't retire...

Their 2014 was probably his last great OL, they've had some odd luck over the last few seasons.

From 2015 to the start of 2017, they started 14 different combinations on the line. No combo lasted more than 5 games. Early declarations, injuries, and poor play have made a lot of inconsistencies.

Sometimes a coach becomes stale at a certain job, but doesn't mean they don't know how to coach. We revere Joe Pendry for what he did at Bama, but overlook the fact he was at risk at falling out of the NFL because his Houston OL was one of the worst in history(2nd most sacks allowed since 1969.) He wasn't even Saban's 1st choice at OL Coach, but it turned out well.

someone is going to land an a-hole whose coaching style doesn't resonate as much with players today as it did 10 years ago.

This. This guy is a complete dickhead that rearended our car in Daphne on a recruiting trip and left the scene. We followed him to the YMCA and called the cops. They had to practically drag this tool kicking and screaming out of the place just to do a police report for the insurance. No thanks on this old dickhead.
