And it likely pushes for #2 overall.

The Cox theory isn't even a thing. We weren't even seriously being considered until two weeks ago. We got a top five player and somehow we are a loser lol.

OSU is number two with losing their QB recruit and a 5 star OL player. Thats why they are there I would assume. We are there likely because we lost the Cox battle, and this is the worst Bama class in a while.

I haven't seen the article, but Joseph to UGA and Wood-Anderson to UT probably also counted as "losses" in SI's view.

Correct, and they didn't say that Bama is still in the running for other big recruits, such as the one that committed today in Brown.

quote:

Alabama: The Crimson Tide were in on Jones, who spurned them in favor of an SEC East team (Florida). They were also in the running for Dominick Wood-Anderson, the top junior college tight end in the nation, but he picked yet another SEC East team (Tennessee). And they were hoping to grab Cox after his recent decommitment from Ohio State, only to lose him to a different SEC East team (Georgia). The Bulldogs also stung the Crimson Tide by flipping Joseph and reeling in Ford, who at one point looked like a good bet to end up in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama did secure an A-List pass rusher in five-star Eyabi Anoma, plus a big body to put in the middle of its defensive line in four-star tackle Christian Barmore, but the early window wasn’t as productive as hoped for a program trying to extend a seven-year streak as the country’s recruiting kingpin. Georgia’s ascension to No. 1 in the class rankings didn’t ease any of the angst.

"Alabama and Ohio State are beaten" will get more clicks and readers than "UGA and Clemson sign great classes" every time.

Yeah I forgot about them. 3 loss battles and they may even be counting Emory against us. Not an unreasonable list. Doesn't really matter though lol. We have met our needs for the most part. Would like another DB and OL player, but not too bad.

SI basically just specializes in soft core porn now. That’s not a knock on them overall - that type stuff got me through my adolescence in the 90’s - but they know as much about college football as their swimsuit models (who actually no longer wear swimsuits).

Eta: Body paint is genius though.

20 signed. 2 of 4 could stay.

To be honest, I think this will be one of Saban’s top 3 teams, because he’s filling needs with very good players. The only thing this class is missing is a couple of 5 star skill guys to raise the score. What it does have is a whole bunch of very good defensive players that will go a long way toward Bama continuing it’s run for the next few years.

Yep. Given our smaller class size it's strong at this point and meets our biggest needs pretty well. If we hang on to our commits, add another OL, WR, CB, LB and a QB from our top targets list, it'll be a great class.

Absolutely, this class has turned into a very good class with almost 6 weeks to go. Some of the doubters on here look a little foolish.

depends on how you define doubt. Only one 5 star is still a little unusual for Saban.

We've got pretty good chances with Petit-Frere and Taylor-Stuart who are both 5*, and the rest of our top targets are pretty high-ranked 4* guys.

If Saban offers a guy a scholarship his track record is good enough for me I regard the guy as a 5 star damn what everyone else got to say.

Would be a perfect finish for those two. Even if we got Sewell over Petit

I think Cristobal will overtake Alabama for Sewell.
