If we somehow get Peterson to consider UA again, Walker gone. If we don't then I think we've got a 50/50 shot.

No.

But Watts was dead wrong this morning regarding Joseph being solid and made no mention of his grades until now.

I think our "insiders" and mods got a pretty good kick in the teeth today.

Watts mentioned 3 hours ago that he didn't have his academics in a good position to enroll early.

Watts
quote:

Nadab was told to wait to sign with UA because of grade issues. UA wanted to see how he progressed over the next couple of months. UGA was willing to take that chance. With the new rules you can only take so many chances like that. Nadab apparently didn't want to wait. Bama would have taken them both.

lilslym

He wasnt told to hold off but he was asked how he felt about it and the convo quickly went south

Watts then said that was worded better than his explanation.

He still could have signed early. We had at least 4-5 guys sign that aren't enrolling early.

Makes sense to me to be honest. After Jobe committed we tried to play it safe and Kirby went guns blazing and it paid off for him. Whether it’s bullshite or not, it’s definitely plausible.

Then if he doesn’t academically qualify he counts as a spot for this class anyway due to the new rules.

Hypothetical: He signs early, his grades go south, we are stuck with a non-qualifier. And we don't get the counter back. Then what?

Sorry if this has been brought up, but, not having a DC for next year I am sure had to hurt us. Anybody else think this as well? Or am I in the minority?

And to add to my hypothetical, what if we were stuck with said academic casualty while other 4-5* want in, but we have to turn them down because we don't have a spot.

Now Watts is saying we didn't send Joseph an NLI because of his classroom work.

We'd be fricked.

It's all speculation at this point.

My issue is none of our mods or "insiders" even mentioned this until today when Georgia people were sitting on it all day yesterday.

Saban is playing it very safe trying to feel out the intricacies of the early signing period. He hates it, but is trying to mold it to his preference.

We'll see whose strategy is the best...
