Biggest threats to Florida’s class
It’s open season on Florida’s commits and several schools are pursuing members of the Gators’ 2018 recruiting class, which is ranked No. 7 nationally in the 247Sports Composite.
UF hasn’t suffered any defections yet, but there will be cause for concern until a new head coach is in place.
Here are the four schools who pose the biggest threat to Florida’s class.

Alabama
The Crimson Tide could be the program that benefits most from the coaching change at UF.
Top-50 overall recruit and Under Armour All-American WR Jacob Copeland committed to Florida over Alabama on Aug. 3, but Nick Saban & Co. have continued to come after Copeland.
He has visited the Tide twice this fall and is expected to return for an official visit. According to Alabama recruiting reporter Chris Kirschner, confidence is high in Tuscaloosa.
“Even before McElwain was fired, sources in Tuscaloosa were confident that Alabama could flip Copeland from Florida. Now that it has happened, I had one source tell me that it will happen. It’s just a matter of when Copeland wants to announce his decision.”
If Copeland does change his mind, it probably won’t happen until after the season. I’m told he wants to evaluate all of his options, take official visits and see who Florida hires first.
Kirschner also reported that the Tide may circle back and try to flip Gators RB commit Dameon Pierce — a former Alabama pledge. Saban and his staff will evaluate 4-star TE Kyle Pitts and 3-star DL Taylor Upshaw as well.

Waddle and Copeland both expected in town this weekend! Add Savion Smith and Nadab Joseph as likely commits this weekend while here and this could be a huge weekend.

Hey Buckeye,
What about Brenton Cox? Any Buckeye worries about him?

As long as we win I'd be happy with zero commitments.

I think there is always concern when guys visit a place like Bama multiple times, as Bama fans would feel if the guy kept flying up to Columbus
I think Cox is a little more solid, and OSU needs DE's badly, with Lewis/Holmes/Hubbard all leaving for the NFL after this year. There is an extremely good chance Cox would be in the 2 deep as a frosh, and Larry Johnson is great about rotating guys in.
However, I would have said the same thing about Jones 6 months ago

Uncommitted prospects galore
Four of the top five West prospects remain uncommitted and it does not seem like any of them are in a rush to make their pledges, which could mean they will continue the recruiting process at least until the all-star events, if not National Signing Day.
Adding to the intrigue is that all of them are five-star prospects.
The nation’s top receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, has already visited Michigan and Notre Dame but he’s not planning trips to Stanford and USC until after the season. UCLA could also get a trip.
Standout cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart said recently Alabama and Texas A&M are definitely going to receive official visits and then he’s considering LSU and others. USC remains a front-runner in Taylor-Stuart’s recruitment, but Oregon and others cannot be counted out.
This summer, five-star athlete Devon Williams, who could star at receiver or safety, said Oregon is his favorite. But the 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect still has a top list that includes USC and UCLA among others, and since he doesn’t talk about his recruitment much it’s tough to know if the Ducks still stand out most.
Lastly, there is five-star receiver Jalen Hall. Some believe he’ll end up at USC with former Los Angeles Hawkins teammates Joseph Lewis and Greg Johnson, but there is also the thought he could leave town with Florida, LSU, Nebraska, Ohio State and others in the mix. Hall seems far off from a decision.
Five-star linebacker and USC commit Palaie Gaoteote is the only top-five prospect in the West who’s made his pledge.
Out-of-state push for commitments
A concern for the Pac-12, the top four committed prospects in the West are all headed out of the conference if things go as planned.
Four-star defensive back Jaiden Woodbey is committed to Ohio State, four-star quarterback Matt Corral is pledged to Florida, four-star linebacker Jack Lamb is headed to Notre Dame and four-star quarterback
Cameron Rising has picked Texas.
That’s not all across the West. Four-star tight end
Brevin Jordan from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman is going to Miami. There’s a good possibility the top two prospects in Utah - four-star offensive tackle Penei Sewell and four-star defensive end Cameron Latu- end up at Alabama. Latu is already committed to the Crimson Tide, but Utah and USC shouldn’t be completely counted out yet.

We just got 5 more CBs for Emory Jones.

Andres Fox? Are we pretty much settling for him at this point. I thought we needed DT's more than DE's? Maybe we need both

Coming off a weekend trip to Arizona, Alabama offensive line commit Jarrett Bell tells BamaOnLine he plans to take his final visits to UCLA, Texas, and Alabama.
The trip to Los Angeles is set for next weekend, Nov. 11. As for the other two, dates are not locked in. The Tide is expected to get the three-star guard on campus last in December prior to his early enrollment.
No one is predicting him to sign with us so he's probably gonna flip to someone soon. No idea who though.

Emory Jones would be a big get. He's a talented guy and would likely compete with Mac Jones down the line once Tua and Hurts are done. Also flipping a guy from Urban and OSU sends a strong message to Columbus and the rest of the nation that Saban and Alabama aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Hope we land him.

Its that serious huh? Im just pointing at that nobody was talking about him and now we are recruiting him the hardest and hes another DE?

Yea OSU liked him a lot when they recruited him. A lot of analysts don't like him close to as much as they did a year ago (injury and completion percentage stuff), but I know Meyer still loved him for his offense.

I like 90-95% of the folks that post on this board. The ones that I don't like, it took a year or so to figure it out.
You sir, have set a new record that might never be broken. It's only been around a month and I literally dread when I see your name next to a post.
