Tua's little brother and the Bear's great grandson, I like Bama's chances to land both.

With those connections, I think they would be less likely to transfer then Jones or Williams.

Not to my knowledge. Miami guys have been confident that he's locked in there for at least the last 3-4 months. He supposedly has a cousin or an uncle that has been posting as an insider to their channels that he is a silent commit to Miami. I honestly didn't think UGA had a legitimate shot until recently. Definitely seem to be trending, but won't believe that one until I see the ink dry on the fax. Who knows... I'm sure Bama will be fighting hard, but you're in the mix with a lot of guys... likely comes down to expected resources required/reward.

I'm torn on Jones.

I don't think he'll be a contributor for at least 3 years so in a class with limited numbers I really don't want to "waste" a spot on a long term project.

However, he is #36 in the Composite rankings so he'd really help boost this class.

I guess it's happening.

Steve Wiltfong, Kipp Adams and Demetric Warren just CB'd Emory Jones to Alabama.

Andrew Lind, an Ohio State mod, just CB'd Jarren Williams to OSU.

After reporting this morning that Ohio State has offered Top247 quarterback Jarren Williams, I have flipped my 247Sports Crystal Ball to Alabama for the Buckeyes current signal-caller pledge Emory Jones.

A source with knowledge of the situation believes that Jones will sign somewhere other than Columbus.

Im excited about Emory, so we try to take a QB every class, this guy is a borderline 5 star with a ton of upside. He may be our starter one day. A guy like that would be most programs featured player but we just want another QB. What a awesome get. If it happens....

Meh.

If we get Jaylen Waddle and Jacob Copeland I'll be more than satisfied.

It looks like we should be expecting Andres Fox in this class:

quote:

Andres Fox says Alabama is recruiting him the hardest

Alabama needs several elite defensive linemen in the 2018 class. The team missed on two of its top targets in 4-star prospects Coynis Miller and Bobby Brown in October, as Miller chose Auburn and Brown selected Texas A&M.

There are still options out there for the Crimson Tide on the defensive line, and one of those players is Andres Fox, a 3-star defensive end from Mobile (Ala.) Christian High School.

Fox’s childhood dream school was Alabama. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll commit to the Tide. Miller grew up a major Alabama fan, and he ended up choosing Auburn.

But, there are several factors working in the Tide’s favor when it comes to Fox’s recruitment. He likes that the team has a big need for linemen and appreciates how hard the team is recruiting him.

“It’s probably Alabama at the top now,” Fox said when asked which school was recruiting him the hardest. “Alabama and Stanford. LSU is there. Auburn is probably the lowest [in terms of communication] now. [Alabama] just talks to me the most. I think I’m talking to Nick Saban [on Wednesday]. He wants me to call him.”

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect is down to those four schools he mentioned — Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Stanford. It’s interesting how he said Auburn has fallen off a bit with its communication. At one point, Auburn was recruiting him the hardest. It seemed like he was eventually going to choose the Tigers because of that.

“They haven’t been talking to me much. I don’t know,” Fox said. “They text me every once in a while, but it’s weird. It’ll just be like a one-text thing. [Auburn defensive line] Coach [Rodney] Garner said he’s coming to my game [Thursday], so I think it’ll pick back up with them.”

Right now, though, Alabama may be the team to watch for Fox. SEC Country was told by a source close to the program that Alabama feels confident that it will land Fox’s commitment when he makes his decision on National Signing Day on Feb. 7.

Fox, however, has already made somewhat of a commitment to one of his final four schools. He told SEC Country last month that he made a silent commitment to one of those four schools. He won’t give any hints on which school that may be, though.

The nation’s No. 19 weakside defensive end said that the silent commitment isn’t locked in stone just yet. It’s between that mystery school and one other school in his top 4. I believe Alabama is one of the two at the top.

“Alabama has told me that they need me,” Fox said. “They only have two people on their team like me — LaBryan Ray and Da’Shawn Hand. They think I can grow into a defensive end. They think I have a big frame.”

The plan right now is for Fox to be a Jack linebacker in Alabama’s 3-4 defense, but after speaking with someone close to the program, the Tide believe Fox can grow into a Hand or Ray. The source mentioned how Fox seems to get bigger every time coaches see him on campus, and they’ll get another chance this weekend when he’s in town for the LSU game.

It seems like Alabama is going to be hard to say no to for Fox. I keep thinking back to what he told me when I first spoke with him earlier this year and how his parents wanted him to choose Alabama because it’s the school with guaranteed stability from its coach. And then you factor in the team’s needs and his fandom. The Tide have a lot working for them.

“They just talk to me a lot — Nick Saban and coach [Jeremy] Pruitt,” Fox said. “That’s pretty cool because I grew up an Alabama fan. That’s all you could really want.”

In addition to his trip to Tuscaloosa this weekend, Fox will take an official visit to Alabama at some point after the SEC Championship Game in December. He’ll also visit LSU in December, too. He’s planning on visiting Stanford in January, while he’s unsure of when he’ll see Auburn again.

Fox will be in my next edition of Alabama’s mock 2018 signing class.

Don't we have enough WDE's that will play OLB? I'd like to see us concentrate on pure DL considering we'll only have 6 returning DL on scholarship provided that Payne declares for the draft.

Tennessee received a commitment from Greg Emerson over the summer and he hasn’t looked back since.

With coaching rumors swirling around coach Butch Jones, the Vols have lost commitments from three prospects in the Class of 2018. Others have begun to look around in case Jones is let go.

Emerson told Luis Torres of The Jackson Sun he still believes in Jones despite the hot-seat talk.

“I see a lot of fans saying, ‘Fire Butch Jones,’” Emerson said. “Nobody knows what predicament [he’s] in. What’s on his plate every day. They don’t know.

“[I’m] 110 percent committed.”

Emerson not wavering in his commitment is huge for Tennessee. He plans to graduate from North Side (Jackson, Tenn.) and sign during the early period. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive end rates as a 4-star prospect and ranks as the No. 72 player in the class, according to the 247Sports rankings.

Emerson is coming off a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula that he sustained at Nike’s The Opening on July 2. The injuries have kept Emerson off the football field his entire senior season.

Emerson practiced for the first time in shells last week.

“It was better than doing nothing at all,” Emerson said. “At least I got to practice. It was something I could enjoy.”

He should be ready to go when football season begins next year.
