I'd rather take Ford.

I'd agree, better long term and Ford is no slouch. If he comes in and somehow starts, hey 3 to 4 starter at TE. Transfers would happen, but you have your starter locked in.
If DWA comes in and starts, chances are he might be one and done and push someone down the depth chart enough to leave. Sets the rest back a season.
Now if Bama has lost their traction with Ford, hell yeah gimme DWA over Parker.

Irv Smith is looking legit at TE. What is his ceiling? Does Ford or DWA have a chance to one day start over Irv?
Posted on 10/23/17 at 11:41 pm to SECSolomonGrundy
Depth is pretty good right now, Smith looks like he has the potential to be a very well rounded TE. I don't see anyone coming in and knocking him or HH off the 2 deep.
There is a lot of hype with DWA though, and he definitely looks the part on film. He is high effort player who has a large catch radius. He lays out to cat ch anything.
Biggest issue is and always will be, can they block? DWA essentially plays an oversized slot role for his team, not much blocking involved.
It all depends on if the smoke about Bama havinga high opinion of DWA is true or not...

Who is going to pick up my slack while I drive across the country?
We're talking 4-5 days of coverage here.
Who's stepping up?

Is the fresham from Texas going to stick at TE or move to defense?
Posted on 10/24/17 at 7:32 am to Sebastian
I think it might depend on how big he gets, he's a 275 freshman now.
I could see a move to either line if he keeps growing...

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. Today, we talk the latest with a Nebraska wide receiver commit who visited Alabama this past weekend.

Joshua Moore strongly considering Alabama
Joshua Moore was one of six official visitors Alabama hosted this past weekend for the Tennessee game and one of three prospects who are committed elsewhere.
Moore, a 4-star wide receiver from Yoakum (Texas) High School, committed to Nebraska this past summer, but the Cornhuskers have turned into a mess since his pledge. Nebraska has started 3-4, fresh off a blowout loss against Ohio State, just replaced its athletic director and coach Mike Riley’s job is in jeopardy.
The Under Armour All-America receiver told SEC Country that when he committed to the Cornhuskers over the summer, he had no intentions to take any official visits to programs not named Nebraska. The uncertainty surrounding the program has changed that plan.
“I just want to make sure I make the right decision for me,” Moore said. “My family and I thought it’d be best to keep all options open at the moment. We just want to be smart with the process.”
The nation’s No. 17 wide receiver took his official visit to Nebraska on Oct. 3 and has one set to Florida State on Nov. 4. His trip to Tuscaloosa this past weekend was Moore’s first time on campus. Alabama has recruited Moore strongly over the past year and even after his commitment to Nebraska. The staff considers him to be one of the 2018 recruiting class’ top athletes. Coach Nick Saban actually video chatted Moore while he was at the NFL draft this past spring and gave his usual spiel about how he could be the next great Alabama player to become drafted.
Moore said his first visit to Tuscaloosa couldn’t have gone any better.
“I loved everything about it,” he said. “It was great to spend time with the players and get their thoughts on the program. I loved how they spread the ball around. That’s important to me.
“My favorite part about it was seeing the success they had throwing the ball. The players made me feel at home. They kept it real and told me a lot about the program that I will definitely take into consideration.”
The 6-foot-1, 168-pound prospect didn’t want to expound on the last part of that quote, but he said that if he flipped his commitment the opportunities he’ll have because of the number of receivers leaving is important to him. Robert Foster and Cam Sims will graduate and it’s likely Calvin Ridley will leave for the NFL draft. Alabama’s starting receivers next season will likely all be sophomores with DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs and Jerry Jeudy getting the majority of work. Tyrell Shavers, who will be a redshirt freshman in 2018, will likely get playing time, too.
Saban told Moore this past weekend, though, that the team is still recruiting him as an athlete, meaning he could play receiver or defensive back. SEC Country was told that the team is still trying to figure out how the numbers would work out if they did take Moore, if he wanted to flip his commitment.
As of now, Jaylen Waddle is Alabama’s top slot receiver target. His commitment is likely. The Tide also are in the running to land 4-star prospects Justyn Ross and Seth Williams. The team also has a commitment from 4-star receiver Xavier Williams. At defensive back, 5-star prospect Tyson Campbell, junior college prospect Saivion Smith and 4-star prospects Nadab Joseph and Jalyn Armour-Davis remain the projected signees.
Moore, who’s considered one of the faces of Nebraska’s class, acknowledged that he and other Cornhuskers commits still believe in the future of the program, but there’s no doubt that he’s still thinking about reopening his commitment.
“We’ll just have to see how everything plays out,” Moore said.

Nation’s top JUCO TE Dominick Wood-Anderson de-commits from Texas
Dominick Wood-Anderson’s recruitment has been a whirlwind.
Wood-Anderson, a 4-star prospect from Arizona Western College (Yuma, Ariz.), de-committed from Texas on Monday night after being committed to the Longhorns for four months. That didn’t really come as a surprise, as it was trending that way for quite some time.
What did come as a surprise is him not committing to Alabama in the first place. He actually told Saban and the Alabama staff the day he committed to Texas that he was going to verbally commit to the Tide later that day in a note on Twitter. A few hours after his conversation with Saban, he ended up stunning the recruiting world by picking Texas.
Despite him choosing Texas, Alabama didn’t stop recruiting him. I confirmed with a source close to the team that the staff has been in touch with Wood-Anderson and he is still welcomed in the class if he wants to hop on board.
If you’ve been following along with recruiting this year, your next question will likely be what does that mean for 4-star tight end Luke Ford? With numbers being so tight this year, there’s likely only room for one tight end. Alabama, barring attrition, will return every tight end on the roster next season. It’s not a position of need.
This may be a matter of who wants to commit first. Wood-Anderson was Alabama’s top tight end target over the summer. When he committed to Texas, Ford became the guy. Now, Georgia may be in the best position to land Ford. He’s made it clear that he’d like to play with 5-star quarterback Justin Fields in college. Fields chose the Bulldogs earlier this month.
Ford did visit Tuscaloosa for the Arkansas game and fell in love with Tuscaloosa all over again, but he’s not planning on making a commitment anytime soon. With Wood-Anderson and how all over the place he is, he could choose to commit at any time. He took an official visit to Tuscaloosa over the summer, and with him being on the West Coast, another visit to Tuscaloosa this fall isn’t likely.
We’ll see what happens, but Wood-Anderson now being uncommitted definitely makes things interesting at the tight end position.

Luke Ford has been trending to UGA awhile now. Plus DWA was higher on the board than Ford so ill take him gladly but its not something we have to have like DB's and DT'S.

Ford can't commit. DWA is the only TE that could commit right now.
Posted on 10/24/17 at 10:15 am to BIGJLAW
According to TWatts on BOL they would prefer to have Ford and it would be a matter of who commits first. Surprising if true that Ford can't commit.
