I think we could get away with not signing one offensive player this year

SEC Country's Mock Defensive Signing Class for LSU
The dude making this prediction also has them taking NINE defensive linemen.
quote:
DB: Patrick Surtain Jr., Kelvin Joseph, Ar’Darius Washington
Analysis: I had been close to adding Anthony Cook to this group — and I’m not ruling it out entirely — but it would take an impactful official visit to sway momentum into LSU’s corner ahead of an Oct. 30 decision date. One-time LSU commitment Nadab Joseph is also in play here, as Corey Raymond has maintained a strong relationship with the versatile Florida defensive back. Joseph Foucha is also a name to monitor through February.
Kelvin Joseph de-committed in October amid rival schools not allowing him to make his official visit while still committed to LSU. Still, it’s safe to presume Joseph will return to the Tigers’ 2018 class. At the same time, LSU has maintained a lead for Patrick Surtain, the No. 1 corner in the nation.
LSU would be just fine taking Surtain and Joseph, along with Washington as a projected nickel safety. Class of 2019 names such as Derek Stingley Jr., Devin Bush and Maurice Hampton could lead to a bigger haul next year and a small but talented collection of defensive backs in 2018.
Confidence Level: 90 percent

SEC Country's Mock Defensive Signing Class for Auburn
So the Alabama guy didn't predict Walker in our class and the Auburn dude predicted him in theirs. I guess the writing is on the wall.
quote:
Linebacker (2): 4-star recruit Michael Harris (Tucker, Ga.), 4-star prospect Quay Walker (Cordele, Ga.)
Michael Harris has been the lone linebacker in the class for the last few months. He’s solid and playing at a high level for Tucker High School.
The second prospect to join the class at linebacker is a little less clear.
I’m going with the wow factor a little bit on this one, but it also might double as the most likely addition. Quay Walker is committed to Alabama. Nothing has changed there. But he’s shopping around. He visited Auburn three weeks ago and Florida State two weeks ago. Don’t be surprised to see him back on the Plains for Georgia and Alabama to end the season.
Ultimately, it’s not going to be easy to pry him away from the Crimson Tide. But, if anyone can do it, I think it’s linebackers coach Travis Williams.
Not in the class: Channing Tindall, JJ Peterson, La’Dedric Jackson and Zakoby McClain

These are my favorite. The act like their players have never done anything wrong. (The following are post from LSU fans on the board that was linked by Tide Saint.)
I hate Bama partially due to jealousy but the majority stems from their attitude and self-righteousness within the program and fanbase. I hope Sullivan/Drake/whoever next year Moss's that guy if he ends up at Bama.
Saban plays by a different set of rules than the rest of the conference. Even two guys caught in a park after closing with a handgun and drugs wasn't enough for Saban to suspend them or kick them off the team.
At least Coach Miles has integrity. He kicked Ryan Perrilloux off the team for using a fake ID to get into one of the gambling boats.
Saban worries only about winning. He doesn’t care about those kids after they leave bama. It doesn’t bother him at all that most of them flame out in the league and have nothing left in the tank when they graduate.

Hearing Bama also making a move on OSU commitment, Taron Vincent. Sounds like we're after Brenton Cox, Vincent, and Tyreke Smith all pretty hard now. All 3 either committed or OSU targets (Smith from Cleveland... Ped State may be leading).

Wow. How many 50+ yard touchdowns can one kid have?
The most amazing thing about all of that is that he keeps ripping off 80 yard runs and on most of them, nobody ever gets a hand on him. He's lightning fast.

Anyone know how Tua's competition level in Hawaii compared to the level of competition Taulia is facing at Thompson? Cause that kid is just tearing it up at a level greater than I ever expected.

Well Thompson is 7A, highest classification in the state.
It's a little different in Hawaii as I understand it. They have 3 classifications/divisions:
Open
Division I
Division II
The "Open" classification was created in the last year, they put a lot of powerhouses like St. Louis(Tua's school) in it. Kapolei(Taulia's old school) is on Division I, below the Open division.

A lot of states are different with classifications and not sure it has anything to do with level of play as it appears it mostly has to do with size of school.

He's really good, and playing against really good competition.
He also has a very good supporting cast (with an All-American Junior LT, good WRs, and other good players around him), good system, and is very well coached. Thompson is about to begin pumping out top prospects yearly.

Can someone provide a brief synopsis of why we are so far behind in recruiting for 2018?
I'm just now checking it out this year and was shocked.

Smaller class than usual, a lot of targets remain and are committing later, and a mild case of weaker recruiting success in general

Hopefully a Natty will flip some kids. Thanks.

We are taking our time in giving out committable offers due to the smaller class we are signing this year.
If you go by the SEC Country dude's class prediction, which he put out over the last two days, we'd finish with 292 points.
That was good enough for 7th last year.
It's not #1, but it isn't horrible.

The Class of 2018 isn't very deep either. The in-state crop of kids is the worst I've seen in a decade.

Hank South is holding his weekly recruiting chat today. Anyone want me to ask a specific question?
