My wife is fricking pissed because he got hurt in the 2nd quarter and his idiot coach wouldn't let him leave until after he gave a 30 minute speech once the game was over.

That's fricking child abuse. He deserves to have his arse kicked or at least he needs to sit there while you get some things off of your mind.

I don't blame you one bit. He's just a kid. Broken bones aren't fun, and just having to sit there in pain and have people bump into you and shite for 2 hours is uncalled for. He needed help. I can't imagine how someone who people have put their kids health in their hands, would think that is ok. frick that guy.

Then go talk to the principal or district superintendent and let them know the situation. That would get a better result.

BPM is right, TS. You should talk to the principal and higher ups too. Nothing right about that. If a kid is hurt and there is no team doctor at the game, the coach should actually take the inititive to suggest that his parents take him to get checked out.

Wife and son just got home.

She's already planning on talking to the principal tomorrow.

God have mercy on his poor soul. If you knew my wife you'd understand.

She don't play.

He's okay other than needing a cast for 6 weeks.

He is obviously a little confused as to why an adult just ignored the fact that he was injured, but I told him some people are just morons.

I did, however, get some more of the story and that slack jawed frick of a coach yelled at him for sitting on the bench instead of standing on the sideline watching his teammates.

I'm getting that fricking idiot fired tomorrow.

Your offensive play calling in the red zone on those first two drives was unbelievably bad.

You had their defense completely lined up on the short side of the field and tossed it to a FB instead of play faking it and letting Stidham run a bootleg to the wide side with zero defenders in his face.

It looked like the Saints offense in the red zone last night.

I hate it for your son Saint. I coached HS ball for 13+ years before getting out of it. When we didn't have a team doctor or trainer on the sideline, I stayed with the kid until we could get the parent to the sideline.
It may be too late, but try to get your wife to be as calm as possible in getting her rant out. Having been in education for 24 years, I know that a ranting parent, screaming and cursing, will get shutdown and ignored. Go to the superintendent if the principal doesn't give you the satisfaction. You can always threaten to get the local news station and paper involved. No one wants bad publicity!!!

I have a right mind to go whip someone's arse tomorrow morning. They've already had 3 kids on the team break an arm and this frick stick made him stay on the sideline in pain for 2 hours.
that guy needs to be fired immediately. Broken bones are not to be messed around with. They can nick nearby blood vessels and cause internal bleeding. Hopefully this guy gets canned before a kid gets permanently hurt

Yeah at the very least that coach needs to be taught that fractures aren't just nicks and bumps. Fractures are medical emergencies and only a medical professional can tell you if it's just a cast or if they need emergent surgery. Waiting 2 hours can be dangerous for the limb as the poster above me pointed out.

Bet he didn't even check pulses on that arm or see if he still had feeling below the break.

Sorry for your kid's pain man.

We talked to the superintendent this morning. He agreed that the coach was negligent. I don't know what they are going to do to him, but he said they are going to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Tommy Bush high on Alabama but nowhere close to deciding

Tommy Bush is nowhere near deciding on where he’ll play college his college football. For Alabama’s chances with the elite Texas wide receiver, that’s a good thing.

Bush, a 4-star prospect from Samuel Clemens High School (Schertz, Texas), recently narrowed down his 44 offers to 15 schools. He didn’t release that list on Twitter because he said he just isn’t a social media guy. He instead did it the old-school way and called 15 coaching staffs and told them that he’s still considering them if they have a committable offer for him.

How does one keep track of 15 schools?

“On Friday, my dad sets the DVR to record of all the teams I’m interested in and who they’re playing,” Bush said. “On Sunday, it’s kind of difficult now because we watch the NFL, too, but we sit down and watch the offensive series of those teams and watch how they’re doing. We look to see if they’re spreading the ball around or if they’re just throwing it to one guy.”

The last part of that quote is of note when it comes to Alabama. In the Crimson Tide’s opener against Florida State, Calvin Ridley was the only wide receiver to catch a pass. That’s not ideal when you’re trying to impress recruits. Justyn Ross, who is Alabama’s top split end receiver target, talked about needing to see more out of the team’s offense on Monday.

For Bush, though, he named Alabama as one of the offenses that has impressed him so far. Georgia, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Southern Cal and Texas were the other offenses that he named. When it comes to ‘Bama, Bush is taking a wait-and-see approach.

“Bama’s [offense] has been balanced,” Bush said. “They didn’t show much in the first game because it was tough. There wasn’t a whole lot of passing yardage in that game because FSU’s defense is tough, so I have to really wait one or two more games on them. Right now, I really like their formations and their spread attack.”

Alabama may be in a wait-and-see approach when it comes to Bush. As mentioned above, Ross is the team’s top option. Is there space for both Ross and Bush if both wanted to commit to the Tide? Right now, it doesn’t seem likely. But, as I wrote on Monday, Ross seems to be trending toward Clemson at this time. Ross is planning on making his commitment on National Signing Day, but Alabama will likely know before that if he will or won’t be choosing the Tide.

Both Ross and Bush are big-bodied receivers with Ross standing at 6-foot-4 and Bush at 6-5. The plan right now is for Alabama to only sign one big-bodied receiver, but Bush wouldn’t mind playing alongside Ross if possible.

“As long as they have a spot for me and if I could have Justyn Ross on one side of me and I’m on the other, what are these defenses going to do?” Bush said with a laugh. “How could I be mad at that? He’s a monster and I know I could learn some things from him. I have no problem going in with another big receiver.”

Bush and his family went on a Southeastern tour this summer where he visited Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee. That visit to Tuscaloosa was memorable for the nation’s No. 37 wide receiver.

Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll wasn’t there to meet face to face with Bush because he needed to pick up his most recent Super Bowl ring from the New England Patriots, but the coach Skyped in to chat. Bush also got to meet what could be his future teammates.

“To have Jalen Hurts and Bo Scarbrough come up to me after practice and meet me and shake my hand was cool,” Bush said. “Those guys are like superstars. To have them take time to do that stuck out to me.”

The Under Armour All-American said as of right now, Alabama is “absolutely” going to get one of his five official visits, which is important because he’s down to 15 schools. That will almost guarantee the Crimson Tide to be a finalist when he makes his commitment either in January or on National Signing Day in February. Nebraska is the only official visit he has set so far. He’ll visit the Cornhuskers on Oct. 6.

Bush said he talks to wide receivers coach Mike Locksley and running backs coach Burton Burns multiple times per week. Those coaches have made Alabama one of Bush’s schools that is always at the top of his mind.

“They are in a good spot with me,” Bush said. “I know they have Xavier Williams committed. He was at The Opening with me on my team. He’s a really good guy. He’s really funny. He’s just talking to me about why he committed. I love their school and what they stand for. Alabama stands really high up on my list. I know what I’m going to get out of them. I know I’m going to have a chance to win every year.

“Bringing in Coach Daboll was good, too. I know they’re going to get it clicking, so I’m going to keep on watching. I don’t have to be the No. 1 guy in any offense. I would hope to get to that point at some point, but I’m a guy that can learn and want to be used the right way.”

Alabama currently has the nation’s No. 28 recruiting class and the 10th best in the SEC, according to the 247Sports composite. The Crimson Tide only have 10 commitments, so for them to be ranked that highly shows how elite this class already is.

Nick Saban said the team can only sign 22 Class of 2018 recruits because of the delayed enrollment in the 2017 class of tackle Hunter Brannon, kicker Joseph Bulovas and defensive end Jarez Parks. Brannon and Bulovas were blueshirted and Parks was greyshirted.

How will Alabama fill out the rest of its 2018 class on the offensive side of the ball? Here are SEC Country’s latest projections:

QB: Emory Jones

Analysis: This is VERY premature of me to include Jones in a mock signing class. I get that. But, the Alabama interest on his end is very real. It’s the only school he’s kept in contact with other than Ohio State, which is the school he’s currently committed to.

There’s lots of noise in Columbus about making a switch at quarterback from J.T. Barrett to Dwayne Haskins after two mediocre performances from the incumbent starter. If Haskins does take over and excels, will that scare off Jones because Haskins is just a redshirt freshman? I don’t know the answer to that right now. From speaking with Jones multiple times in the past, he has said he doesn’t mind waiting his turn. It’s something he’d have to do at Alabama, too.

I know there are some people in Jones’ family who want him to remain close to home. That’s the biggest reason why I have Jones in this class. He’s the likeliest elite quarterback in the 2018 class to choose Alabama.

RB: Harold Joiner

Analysis: Harold Joiner makes the mock signing class for the first time after Alabama struck out on 5-star prospect Zamir White to Georgia and 4-star prospect Asa Martin to Auburn. Joiner is the next man up. The only problem with him is he has been adamant about not choosing a school that has depth at running back. Alabama does. I don’t think he realized that Alabama may only have three running backs next season if Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris leave for the NFL.

Joiner has said that there’s no chance he commits to Alabama, but he has been known to frequently change his mind. I think he does.

WR: Tommy Bush, Jaylen Waddle, Xavier Williams*

Analysis: Tommy Bush is another new name. He replaces Justyn Ross. I think right now, Clemson is the team to beat for Ross. Bush has visited Tuscaloosa and is planning on taking an official visit to Alabama this fall. He told SEC Country on Tuesday he talks to multiple ‘Bama coaches every week and the Tide are in a really good spot. He’s keeeping a close eye on how the team’s offense develops, which tells me the interest is high.

Jaylen Waddle is Alabama’s top slot receiver target. Waddle, from Bellaire, Texas, has visited Tuscaloosa twice in the past few months. One source told SEC Country that Waddle’s family has warmed up to the idea of playing for the Tide. Florida State and Texas A&M are big threats. Waddle visited Atlanta for Alabama’s opener against Florida State. Alabama has gained significant ground here.

Xavier Williams is committed to Alabama and hasn’t made any intentions of changing his commitment. He’s actively recruiting for the Crimson Tide.

Confidence level: 35 percent
