I don't like players with hyphenated names. Haha Clinton-Dix is the only one I can think that I really ever liked.

I was shocked a 2 year TE was a take in this class with bigger fish like Luke Ford still swimming around out there. May be for the best when all is said and done for us.

Absolutely.
Ford is elite with better film and 2 years younger.
This is one of the only times I've ever been happy to NOT get a commitment.

It's true.
I linked both of their highlight reels on the previous page and Ford just looks like the better player to me.
He was awesome at the Opening against the best of the best too.

If we don't get Ford, it was a huge loss. We may have lost both guys now, which would be another gut shot.

Based on what?
By most accounts we wouldn't have landed Ford if we got DWA.
Ford has maintained Alabama is his leader after every visit he takes.
He also tweeted out that pic of a football with the Alabama script "A" on it last week.

Wasn't it reported that Ford said he wanted to play with Justin Fields or that the school Fields chooses will gain an advantage with him?

Yeah. He said that.
But so do countless other kids when it comes to package deals.
I think Fields ends up at Florida State and Ford doesn't seem to have any interest in them.

The question is whether or not the fact that DWA was obviously #1 on the board upset Ford. Some guys get turned off, while others don't. It isn't based on anything other than several of the mods thinking we were out of the race for Ford and that. The DWA factor was likely (hopefully) the reason. We'll see. I haven't heard anything that the rest of you haven't heard on Ford. I'm just pretty pessimistic on things after today in general. The Tart-Spencer thing followed by DWA committing to someone who wasn't even a finalist makes you have to wonder if this is just one of those oddball years where things are just somehow out of whack (even though we all know we'll still sign a top 5 class).

I bet I've seen 5 guys say it. But now that I think about it, it's mostly the guys that I follow (Orr, Redfish, DrewD) plus Garcia. I thought it was pretty universal that we were out of the running for Ford if we got DWA, though. (Which I always thought was a bit disappointing that Ford would shy away from a Juco TE signee). I've not even really considered that Ford was even still a possibility in the last week, as it's been assumed we'd land DWA. Regardless, we missed. Hopefully we get Ford.

Garcia alluded to it on the radio the other day. But I guess it was all with the assumption that we would sign DWA. It doesn't really matter, as long as we're still in it.

I can't speak to Redfish, Rodney or Drew, but I do follow what Garcia says and he has never mentioned that we were out of it for Ford.
He's said DWA was our top TE target, and even said it today, but he also followed it up with a statement saying we were still in it for Ford.
