FWIW, heard Bobby Bowden visited his school today.

Obscure joke about how Jay got his scholarship. Story goes iirc that Jay’s mom knew Bowden and asked him to come visit Jay at school (even though Fla. St. was not recruiting him), Bama caught wind of the “visit” and started recruiting Jay. Don’t know if this is a true story or not.

Glad to hear! Thought Pruitt had already closed the deal. Funny how he might be the Viles Walker version. Committed but not really! Wonder if Probst has some hard feelings from not being hired by Pruitt?

That is what some of them think

What is the thought on Petit-Frere? Saw some UF fans that do not think he ends up there and thought they might be our biggest competition.

A top linebacker currently committed to Alabama may end up at Tennessee, but it's also possible that a highly-ranked linebacker currently committed to the Vols could wind up signing with the Crimson Tide.
Alabama has continued to aggressively pursue four-star Georgia linebacker JJ Peterson. And it's unclear, even to at least some close to Peterson, whether the top-50 recruit is going to stick with the commitment to Tennessee or sign with the Tide.
"Alabama has made a very strong push," said Rush Propst, Peterson's coach at Colquitt County High School. "I don't think either one, Alabama or Tennessee, is a clear favorite as of Sunday afternoon. I think it's a dead heat right now, 50-50."
Peterson, who committed to the Vols January 6, took an official visit to Tennessee January 12 and then officially visited Alabama January 19.
Those were the only two official visits for Peterson, the third-best outside linebacker and 48th-best overall prospect in this year's recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Note: Saban and Tosh visited Peterson and Walker this week.

I also wonder how much is this just setting up for a splash for Tennessee. Make it look like Pruitt beat Sabans late push and won another battle over him.? Remember we are dealing with Fat Phil. These kids now days are all about drama, and most of the coaches too. Look at Jim at Michigan

I had heard of possible grade trouble for JJ. Rumors only so don't know? Read it on the internet so must be true!
Per a trusted BOL insider:
1) Saban is still in pursuit of JJ Peterson.
2) Suspicious that Probst saying it's 50/50 UT/UA may be misinformation from UT side. He'll try to confirm.
3) JJ has serious work to do in order to qualify.
4) Saban is also after another highly rated player (S or LB?) who is committed elsewhere.

You mentioned distinct possibility, and I responded to it.
I swear that some of you frickers (not necessarily you, Bear) are the most sensitive dudes I have ever seen on a message board.

I understand. I am a bit of a “worry wart” too when it comes to the qb situation but I know this is not the thread for it.

Coach might be setting up something for after JC.

There is no reason in the world why it should be an off limits topic. That's kid stuff to try to shut people up about a valid discussion. You were right. The way it plays out can impact recruiting, and probably has already. Actually, if I were a major college quarterback that wants to play, (and who doesn't want to play) I would not sign up with Alabama right now. You have Tua and Jalen, and if Tua is the starter next season there is a real good possibility of signing his brother.
Frankly, though, as to your earlier post, I don't think Hurts will transfer if Tagovailoa is the starter. His best chance at the NFL is to change positions, and he could still be backup qb.

Wonder who highly ranked committed LB is? Surely not Reese. If so quietest ever!(:
Posted on 2/4/18 at 8:47 pm to BamaBo7
Why not build up suspense for his signing on NSD and he gets to have a big ceremony and enjoy the hype along with Walker flipping to UT on NSD. Pruit and UT will be all over the news for beating out Saban and the same will be said for Kirby with his class.

Huddie, we all already know the recruiting implcations related to our current QB situation, risk of transfers, injuries, etc. It's common sense and has already been discussed. So we don't need you to educate us. You rarely post in here until you see a window of opportunity to talk about how imperative it is that Tua be the starting QB. We know that's critical. We all agree with you. You were right. We get it.
So just stop it.
So just stop it.

nahh. I am not going to stop commenting, just because somebody is too sensitive, on something that is actually pertinent and an interesting observation like that Bear posted.
Most of the recruiting stuff is just mental masturbation and conjecture. I stopped worrying about all that when Saban was hired, but that which Bear mentioned is an actually valid thing that can impact recruiting but, moreover, is more important to our team's ultimate success than whatever other quarterback signs up on Wednesday, if there is one.
