247 - West Squad Top Performers

quote:

Alpha Dog

With the race for the No. 1 player in the country still very much up for grabs, Stanford offensive tackle commit Walker Little made a monstrous statement on Monday that he should be that guy. He didn't lose a rep in one-on-ones. In fact, he was dominant. Little trusts his size and trusts his technique without fail. His day one effort was the best single day offensive line showing I've seen in an all-star game setting.

The next 10

1. Deommodore Lenoir, CB – He was that guy that made this a business trip. He was out for blood on Monday showing outstanding makeup speed in coverage, great ball skills, closing speed to break up plays. He was just everywhere as a defensive back. The one-time Oregon commit is considering the Ducks along with North Carolina, Nebraska, UCLA and USC.

2. Jay Tufele, DT – Even though this is a loaded offensive line group, Tufele made sure he made a statement. He shows great quickness in interior one-on-ones and he shows big-time power in defeating run blocks. Tufele has official visits set up in January for Utah and USC. He's already visited Michigan and Ohio State.

3. Jaelan Phillips, DE/OLB – Phillips had an outstanding morning. He came up against the great wall of Walker Little some in the afternoon but he still looked like a rare specimen because of his length, his quick and active hands and his versatility. He's a UCLA commit.

4. Ty Jones, WR – The toughest matchup among all the receivers, Jones has so much size and length, shows off a great catch radius and if the quarterback makes a great throw, he's never covered because of his ability to make acrobatic catches. He's a Washington commit.

5. Tate Martell, QB – It's hard to gel with your receivers on the first day of practice in an all-star setting but Martell looked like he'd been playing with these guys all year. He was crisp as a thrower, he was organized with his feet and mechanics and he spun the ball consistently all day. The Ohio State looks very comfortable operating Todd Dodge's offense.

6. Stephen Carr, RB – If you didn't know any better, you'd swear Carr is a wide receiver. He's that natural out of the slot and that's something that the West team has got a great chance to utilize. In a setting that isn’t built for running backs to flash, Carr found a way to do just that in the pass game. He's a USC pledge.

7. Brett Neilon, C – The biggest stain on most all-star games is consistent center play. I don't expect that to be an issue this week. Neilon snapped the ball consistently, he showed good feet and toughness in the middle and when he lost a rep he bounced right back with a good one. USC has Neilon's pledge.

8. Marlon Tuipulotu, DT – A heavy-handed, physical interior defender that can operate effectively on the edge as well. You know you're getting a solid rep and a high motor on every play out of the Washington commit.

9. Oliver Martin, WR – Don't sleep on Martin because the second he catches you snoozing he's past you for a deep touchdown. That's because Martin runs great routes, he's has outstanding athleticism and he catches everything. Michigan State, Iowa and Notre Dame are among the favorites.

10. Jeffrey Okudah, CB – Okudah is considered an Ohio State lean by many in the industry and if he lands in Columbus they'll be getting one of the most unique specimens at the corner position in this class. He showed physicality to win at the line of scrimmage and the speed to get on top of vertical routes and win the fade line. He does all of this at almost 6-foot-2.

Five others of note

Salvon Ahmed, DB – One of the fastest guys in attendance, Ahmed is expecting to play an offensive role at Washington similar to Chico McClatcher but at this event he's playing cornerback and he looked outstanding on Monday. The only problem was that he was often matched up with fellow Washington commit Ty Jones who beat great coverage on a few different occasions with acrobatic catches.

Austin Jackson, OT – Jackson is raw and he gets beat badly from time to time because of technique but he flashed five-star plays pretty regularly on Monday too. He's got natural power in his hips and he's very much a twitched up athlete. USC, Washington and Arizona State are the leaders.

Baron Browning, LB – Some of the linebackers were edge guys trying to play in the middle some were inside backers trying to play in space. Browning was the guy that could do it all. Linebackers don't typically flash on day one but Browning, an Ohio State commit, still looked unique.

Najee Harris, RB – Harris is the No. 1 player in the country by some in the industry and he certainly looked rare. On one play in particular, he shook a middle linebacker in one-on-ones, darted over the middle and one-handed a ball thrown behind him. That pass-catch skillet on top of a 6-2, 225-pound frame is what makes the Alabama commit rare.

Jayden Peevy, DL – This is only Peevy's second year playing football. You can tell. He plays high and he doesn't yet know how to use his hands. I wouldn't count on him playing as a freshman at Texas A&M but I do think he has first round upside long term. His frame is unreal and he's extremely athletic.

I have a serious question for you fellow Bama fans. How in the hell do you do it? I thought this place would be cool after following a link from another site so I joined and tested the waters. Well guys, I know Bama fatigue is real and I get that we have rivals but the LSU fans.....after seeing the absolute disrespect and downright hatred and venom tossed to every user with a script A next to their name I don't get why you stick around and bend over and take it. We all live in trailers, frick our sisters and instead of being bammers, we are a bunch of goddamned gumps. Not only that but it is all perfectly ok with site administrators and if you did make a stand then you would no longer be welcome here.

And fellas, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I graduated from the university in 1999 and I don't see myself as any better than any of you people here. Hell, maybe I am not even as good as the rest of you here but if my dad knew I hung around people that talked to me like these classless jerks do here and honestly and literally not only looked down on me because of where I was born but was provocatively vocal about it he would kick my arse.

You do what you will with your spare time but I can't do it. I am better than that. You folks can be "gumps" if you want to. I think I would rather be a Bama fan. I didn't post this on the board because I am not looking for attention. Was really curious how you guys do it, that's all.

Roll Tide and best wishes. It's only gonna get worse after we beat the shite out of Clemson.

Stay away from the rant. You can't discuss football over there.

I read the political board and the movie board. The rant is full of basement dwelling shitheads. LSU fans are the absolute worst fan base in the SEC. It isn't even close.

90% of my posts are on this board, with a majority of those coming from this thread. This board is, in my experience at least, one of the best Alabama sites for information.

The rant is a shitshow. You just learn to troll with the best of them.

saw this gem on the LSUrb

quote:

He sees what's happening now that we have the right coach and the ship has been righted...this why he fight's LSU on every front..he knows LSU is his real threat to his supremacy...this is why he comes early and often to take the recruits out of Louisiana that could help CEO defeat him...and even out-of-staters(like safety Stevens)...he knows there's a new sheriff in town!

Thanks. Good advice. I never guessed that LSU fans were this bad. I admit that I don't have the temperament to deal with them. Auburn and Tennessee fans don't like that and it's mutual but we respect each other and work together. Wow, Saban has done a lot if damage to the manhood of Louisiana.

I love it here.

Yeah sometimes I get on a rampage where I mercilessly troll the frick out of LSU fans and I probably should have been banned way more than I have (thanks Flesh ), but I get a kick out of seeing them melt.

As for the rest of the site you can't beat the speed of access to information anywhere else on the internet. No bullshite. Things get posted here way faster than any other site I visit.

The Poli Board was amazing from June to Election Day.

The Movie Board is full of very knowledgeable posters when it comes to books, films and TV.

Food Board is great.

Gaming Board is great.

Outdoor Board is excellent.

If you really want to talk sports with members of other fan bases ask to join their board. You won't get access to all of them, notably Auburn's, but most of them are cool. I have access to 13 of them. Just don't be a dick and things will be cool.

I completely agree with you, there are some truly despicable people on these boards but I just ignore them for the most part. They feel like they can say whatever they want because they don't have to physically reap what they sow. They can hide behind a keyboard and just say whatever they want. It doesn't really bother me because there is literally nothing I can do about it, some of them are just trying to get a rise out of people and I couldn't care less what a faceless username says to or about me.

I honestly believe most of the posters are young kids. Nobody can be as ignorant as some of the stuff, especially conspiracy theories, they come up with at times.

If you just stay away from the rant or go over there knowing it's a shithole, then you'll love this site. All the other boards are really good for information or just reading funny stuff.

Agreed. Rant, Lsu rb, and Tiger Rant are awful. Most others are actually full of info and pretty helpful posters. Oh and poli board too! Lol

The poli board is excellent. They find all kinds of stuff that I would never see if they didn't bring it over there

I wonder if him "righting the ship as CEO" will include squandering all the talent like he did at Ole Miss at alarming rates and eventually going winless in the SEC

Aubrey Solomon measurables:

288.00 lbs
6 foot 3 and 1/4"
34 1/4" arms
9 1/6" hands

He's got tiny hands.

Wingspan and Hand *length* is more important for DL than hand *span*. Hand Span (like the combine measures when they say hand size) is more important for ball-handlers, esp QB.

I'd rather a DL have long fingers than a wide grip (and the two are often not correlated).

Aubrey Solomon is this years ed Oliver. Marvin Wilson is this year's dexter Lawrence. Watching rashan Gary this year, he kind of sucks for being so highly rated.

I hope we keep Najee and I know Saban and Co. have got this but this is a case where I wish they would take another look at things. If Najee was RB 1A in the country, Cam Akers was 1B and he was in your recruiting back yard. Now there are no guarantees in recruiting and we might be sweating an Akers flip just as much as a Harris flip, but I maintain that it would be easier to keep Akers in the fold than a kid from Cali who will be 2500 miles from home if he sticks. I want Bama to get the best of the best but if the top 2 targets are close and one is in a neighboring state and one is a thousand miles away, stack the odds more in our favor by going after the nearby guy. Just sayin...
