I just don't see him dragging us along and flipping that late. From the Akers angle, he would have really fricked us over if it does happen like that.

the Wade thing isn't completely over but could end in a similar fashion. He never had to stay committed to Bama through this entire thing but did. There's usually a reason for that

Don't you have to be uncommitted to announce at the all american games?

No. I think a kid did it last year.

MADISON, Ala. — Alabama defensive back commit Kyriq McDonald is officially done with the recruiting process.
McDonald, a 3-star prospect from James Clemens High School, signed his financial aid agreement during a ceremony at his school.
Those documents are non-binding. They protect the recruit by ensuring the school holds a scholarship for them, but the prospect is still free to choose any school. The benefit for the programs is that it allows for unlimited contact between the football staff and the recruit, even once the dead period went into effect at midnight on Sunday. He technically can sign as many financial aid agreements as he wants, but McDonald won’t be doing that.
He’ll be at Alabama next month starting his college career.
When McDonald gets to Alabama, he has one goal in mind.
“I am ring-chasing,” McDonald said. “That’s what hard work gets you — rings. Hard work pays off.”
All the 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect knows is hard work. After fantastic performances in camp this spring and summer, McDonald earned his offer from Alabama on June 18. Even before that date, he knew the Crimson Tide would eventually offer because McDonald knew the work he put in to get to that point.
“I grew up in a single-parent home and worked for everything I have,” McDonald said. “Everything I got, I worked for. I’m strong-minded. I had it in my mind that I was going to play football and be somebody. I wasn’t going to stay in Madison and stay home. I was going to make it.”
McDonald’s versatility is the main thing the Alabama staff loves about his game. He can play cornerback, star, nickelback and both safety positions in college. For James Clemens, he lined up at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, every defensive back position and kick/punt returner.
The nation’s No. 43 cornerback will either major in mechanical engineering or computer science at Alabama.

Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa was courted to Tuscaloosa from Ewa Beach, Hawaii with the help of offensive coordinator and new Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin, but the relationships the Hawaiian star established with other staff members won’t affect his commitment.
Tagovailoa, the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat quarterback, told SEC Country that he’s happy that Kiffin got what he wanted — a head coaching gig.
“I’m grateful that he’s got what he’s wanted,” Tagovailoa said. “He’s a head coach now, and you always want to be happy for people who aspire to be something and then they later achieve it.”
There have been several instances in Tagovailoa’s recruitment over the past month where it looked like he would entertain other schools, such as LSU and Oregon. The Tigers offered Tagovailoa shortly after Ed Orgeron became the permanent coach and new Ducks coach Willie Taggart flew to Hawaii last week with the hopes of getting Alabama’s quarterback commit.
Taggart spent over an hour with Tagovailoa but the quarterback prospect with the hopes of getting him on board, but it didn’t work.
“He just wanted me to know that he really wanted me,” Tagovailoa said. “He respected my commitment 100 percent. He was mainly there for (3-star defensive end and cousin of Tua’s) Myron (Tagovailoa).
Nothing is going to change his mind on Alabama. He’s set with his commitment, even after the news of Kiffin leaving the program.
“It’s always said to see a coach leave,” Tagovailoa said. “At the same time, you wish him the best and you’re correct. It doesn’t do anything with my commitment.”
The Army All-American’s father, Galu, said the family has established a strong relationship with Nick Saban and outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi since his commitment in May. He is closest with those two coaches.
While he did have a relationship with Kiffin, it wasn’t as strong as the ones he has with the aforementioned coaches at Alabama.
“Lane Kiffin is an awesome and smart guy,” Galu Tagovailoa said two weeks ago. “We have much respect for that guy. But at the same time, we have built strong relationships with (outside linebackers coach) Tosh Lupoi and Nick Saban. Those are the two guys we’ve built a huge relationship with — not so much Lane. If Lane decides to move on with his career somewhere else, we wish him the best. We support him with whatever he’s going to do.”
Tagovailoa will participate in the Army Bowl in early January then head straight to Tuscaloosa to begin his career for the Crimson Tide.

Watch him to have a career way better than his ranking would indicate.

Tua's father on our next OC:
quote:
“We’re not sure who exactly coach has in mind,” Galu Tagovailoa said of the next offensive coordinator. “But I know that coach has somebody good. He’s done it with many other offensive coordinators. Regardless of who the offensive coordinator is going to be, Tua is excited. We’re hoping it’s going to be (Steve) Sarkisian because we built a really good relationship with Sark at SC. We were really, really strongly looking at USC when Sark was there. When he left it was kind of like wow what’s going on? Then we’ve built a really good relationship with the head coach that’s there now, Clay Helton.”

As long as Tosh Lupoi is at Bama, so too will Najee. You guys are fine.

That sucks, but we have a ton of talent returning next year.
Thankfully the 2018 class is fricking loaded with DB talent as well.
We have to lock some of them down early.

Humphrey needs to return. If he returns with Minkah, Brown, Averett, Harrison, and Hootie we will be legit.

If Humphrey didn't then 1 of Minkah and Brown would have to play out slide unless mayden or Carter stepped up.

Let's not forget how good our DB haul was last year. Most of those guys could play either CB or S, so if we don't land a top CB, we can just keep an extra one of those guys at CB and maybe sign an extra safety if need be.

Carter, Mayden, Robinson, and Knott will step up and compete for spots next year.

I think mayden switches to safety. He appears too big and not that fast. I'm interested in Knott for sure.

I'm excited about Knott. He will,at least, be hell on special teams next year.
